Don't pray for Jay then. I think the OP is asking not telling. Re people insisting on prayer and dismissing medicines,that's kinda my point. Were not immortal and perhaps some culture's acceptance of prevailing death yet asking for happiness in the afterlife is in a roundabout way asking for serenity. Many less 'developed' cultures appear far happier than our own, some might say. Their was an interesting thread about coping with bereavement the other week which wasvery much about those who are left behind and how nd why people 'cope'. I'd venture that those with faith cope very well as they are not tormented by eternally questioning 'Why?'

Maybe praying for inner strength to face lifes challenges is the way. Maybe (a) god is inside us just waiting to be called upon?
