That's good enough for me. They only had to say so when they signed him. They clearly have a huge amount of faith that he'll come good to spend a large chunk of last summer's transfer budget on someone who may not make a single appearance until next season.

If he's not happy with a 2 year deal and being first choice he definitely won't be happy about a two year deal on less wages and being back up. If he was available on a free he'd get a premier League club no problem.

Theo is absolutely worth signing on a 2 year deal at the end of this season with the option of a third. I can see him ending his career with us now and possibly moving into coaching here. He looks more energised than he has in about 4 or 5 years.

If the away end were down in the Kingsland/Chapel corner then the away coaches could all park up in the area with the industrial units off in that direction and you can block off access to the Kingsland side from there so station fans would have to go round Chapel Road.

Exactly. Ings would then be 30 years old, have a bad injury record and just come off the back of a sub par season. Tottenham and Arsenal, if they're in the market for strikers, will have already signed someone and he'll instead be looking at signing for the likes of West Ham, Leeds or Newcastle, at which point he may as well just stay with us anyway.

Ings agent team are expecting us to accept the same or less 🤦‍♂️ We'd honestly be better keeping him and letting him go for nothing, his goals for another season would be worth the loss (top half rather than bottom half, would we make most of it up in prize money anyway?) And it gives us another seasons worth of revenue/deadweight players off the wage bill to try and replace him properly rather than spending a paltry amount on a subpar replacement and struggling because of it.

With the release clause they want to set it almost guarantees he goes in the summer, barring a major injury. It's ridiculous and such an obvious "we want a load of extra money and still get the move".

Yep, if they're set on that release clause we should take the contract offer off the table and then refuse to accept anything in the summer that isn't at least £5million above the amount they wanted to set.

Exactly. Ings with a 5 year deal and no release clause would be worth £50million or more. Asking for a release clause less than £20million, less than what we paid for him, is just saying we want to leave this summer one way or the other.

Oh well. We've actually looked better at times this season with Walcott and Adams linking up, I've been saying for a while that Ings attitude has been disappointing, he never plays with a smile on his face anymore, just hangs around the left hand corner of the box demanding the ball and getting pissed off with teammates when they don't pass it to him.
