"Fire up the furnaces"?
-
Some incredible passing moves interspersed with sloppy lapses in judgement still. Come on saints, time for a goal...
-
On replay think Macca should have caught that...sorry!
-
Vestergard definitely got the ball there ffs.
-
That was fantastic play, so unlucky from Armstrong.
-
I actually think we've played some excellent football so far, look really sharp.
-
Djenepo not taking people on as much today...told to be more conservative in fear of a Traore counter?
-
Stupid from Vestergard, no reason to dive in there.
-
Players screaming for handball?
-
Great run by Adams but absolutely infuriating that he stayed sat down and didn't immediately get back up to chase down the ball.
-
Nobody else runs direct like he does. It's what Redmond should be doing.
-
Are commentators self aware at all? He's saying "Southampton havent really pressed the centrebacks like they normally do" at the exact time Walcott and Adams force a pass back to the keeper from the centreback.
-
Every single player in the team is we good at it as everyone else. It's amazing.
-
Some very sloppy underhit passes so far.
-
Well done McCarthy. Never should have been a freekick.
-
Bednarek still very prone to a lazy mistake...Romeu got the ball there!
-
Adams still lacking quick reactions in those situations.
-
Can't believe the kneeling is still going on.
-
See he got subbed off today, guessing he didn't run the midfield for them?
-
Ironically a good example of why loans work so shortly after Crocker says we won't be using them, send him out to some dog shit league two side and let him know what life could be like if he doesn't sort himself out.

Chris Makin.

There's a few players that have sneakily become long time servants for us without it being obvious. Long has made 211 appearances, Bertrand 213, Redmond 167.

Their designs for every club is worse than the current version. They don't seem to realise how cheap they look, with rigid straight lines and bold font everywhere...Premier League clubs are a premium brand these days and want everything to look quality. Our badge btw is one of the best around, it's unique (there's an awful lot of just shields and circles out there) and incorporates many aspects of the local area. As someone said above, including 1885 somewhere on there would be good but otherwise, leave it alone.

I mean, this is something that happened years ago under Reed. He gave an interview where he said they didn't see the point in loaning players out because you're learning a different way etc etc, but about a year later that got discarded as they realised there's still huge value in a seasons first team experience, regardless of who it's with.

I think the concern last season about us being overly reliant on Ings- and particularly the attention paid to it by the media - is a bit of a misnomer. Looking at the image below it seems it's the norm for over 40% of a teams goals to be scored by one player. Edit - but I agree, it is nice to see the likes of Ward-Prowse and Adams chipping in, and with Armstrong and Walcott hopefully finishing with 5+ each and maybe Djenepo too we are looking a potent attacking unit.
