  1. Hmmm but when the first lady spends £43 a month on a mobile phone, you have to look at "needs" more closely. Surely costs for food should be covered before the latest iPhone? Fortunately I don't need to use food banks, but then again, my phone bill is a lot less than £43 a month.
  2. You want some?
  3. If you're passing through the woods on your way to the pope, can you check if bears really do **** in them?
  4. When people say we have had an easy start, it really irks me. We have made the most tackles, which suggests that we are hard working. It is the hard work and graft that has got us to where we are...
  5. It's the only trophy Spuds have won in 21 years, so got to be worth a go
  6. I did LOL when the spuds fans were singing "You're getting sacked in the morning". I couldn't work out if it was for Pardew or Poch
  7. Personally, I preferred "Lino, you're a ****, Lino, Lino, you're a ****"
  8. The Lamont/Clarke deficit was run during and after the early 1990's recession, which is to be expected. Clown ran a large deficit for 6 years before the financial crisis (during the boom years), when the "Prudent" one (PMSL) should have put some aside for a rainy day. But then he did think he invented "no more boom and bust". Unfortunately, the deluded one and his gullible followers fell for it.
  9. So we have to pay an extra £1.7 billion to the EU? Whilst France and Germany get a rebate? It's funny how the two main drivers of the single european currency (which was a financial disaster) get a rebate, whilst we are expected to pay more as we faired better by staying out?

  11. Sorry, stardust. Ticket has just gone.
  12. I have one available
  13. Another spare ticket for Tottenham available
  14. Fair comments about the table. Thanks St Chalet for correcting. I did the table because a few people have commented that although we've had a great start, it is only 6 games. I wondered how this year compared against last year. I was pleasantly surprised as it shows like-for-like that we are doing better under Koeman. An incredible achievement if you consider what happened in the summer....
  15. I am looking at the corresponding fixtures from last season, compared to this season to see how we fare...
  16. After 6 games, the like-for-like comparison, looks like this.... 17. This is what it's like to be pompey, This is what it's like to be poor, You sign whittingham We sign no one at all no one at all
  18. “When you have someone who is less experienced and hasn’t done so much, he can say stuff and you don’t really want to believe it but I know when he (Koeman) is going to say stuff to help us and give us advice that it’s going to be stuff that is going to mean a lot. It can help improve us because it’s come from such an experienced man who’s won so much in the game.” http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/news/article/04072014-jack-cork-steven-davis-kelvin-davis-praise-koeman-1716637.aspx
  19. Always the victims...
  20. There has been a lot of negative press recently about annuities. How many people actually never get their money back and the finance industry are creaming big profits off of hidden charges and/or excessive charges and ripping people off.
  21. International Law should be upheld, but we lost our right to lecture on it when our Labour government broke international law to invade Iraq. I was definitely pro-Ukraine a few weeks ago, but the more I read, I think the Russians may have a point. The legitimate pro-russian governent were removed illegitimately in what was essentially a revolution. How legitimate are the current Ukrainian government? Crimea was part of Russia at one point and the majority of people living there are Russian and clearly want to be part of Russia. So is this any different to Britain invading the Falklands? I don't profess to have the answers, but the situation is complex and therefore not easy to resolve. Military action, even if it was feasible, wouldn't solve these issues.
  22. If you read on further, the report goes on to discuss how things weren't much better in the 1990's. The NHS were never accountable then, with the selective way in which they dealt with complaints. It's only now, out of fear of litigation, that they are actually held accountable. The NHS can't be held up as a beacon to excellence in customer service (BTW I am not saying that front line staff don't do a sterling job). This is true for nearly every monopoly (both public and private) for one simple reason. They don't have to be.
  23. Rose tinted spectacles. If you tried to make a complaint 20 years ago, you would get absolutely nowhere. As the complaints handlers were employed by the NHS and often defended the organisation. So the NHS was not accountable to its end users. It was a monopoly service and there was nothing you could do. Page 45 kind of explains how complaints used to be handled: http://books.google.co.uk/books?id=F3UBcGPhXlgC&pg=PA45&dq=Complaints+to+the+NHS+in+the+1980&hl=en&sa=X&ei=lgImU-umFqaR5ASn5YHgCw&ved=0CEMQ6AEwAA#v=onepage&q=Complaints%20to%20the%20NHS%20in%20the%201980&f=false Like it or not, the compensation/claim industry has made the NHS accountable, as a mishap means large compensation payouts. This actually keeps both the NHS and private sector in check.
  24. Didn't agree with his politics, but was one of the old school politicians who had conviction and wasn't afraid to say what he thought.
