They need a facade of power, we want primacy for parliament. This is the win win compromise.

It's ceremonial, the first time she uses it she's toast. Worry about real things.

So Vardy went into this to defend a reputation and has ended up trashing it. Let that be a warning to the stupid rich.

It's ceremonial power, nothing to get worked up about, unless you're desperate to have things paper correct to reflect reality.

That's Boris's take, but he won't be able to not fuck between now and 2025 and it will all add up with either the back benches or the electorate. -

I don't get why he will be seen as a hypocrite if he's fined, he wants Johnson to face the consequences of his actions. By resigning he will be doing exactly that himself. -

He's taken control of the narrative, he stalls the constant questioning with Johnson's line of wait until the investigation concludes, but it doesn't make him look like a spineless sleazebag because he's backed it up with substance. He can legitimately claim he honestly thought no rules were broken, otherwise he wouldn't have put his neck on the line. He's putting honour back into the honour system and acting with integrity and highlighting everything that Johnson isn't. If he's not fined he can keep digging away at Boris without a sniff of hypocrisy. If he's fined then Labour can claim they've done the right thing and they can keep digging away at the Tories. There's an integrity deficit with this government enabled up by the idea that they are all the same, this provides Starmer with clear water between Labour and the Tories. Durham Police have sucked the energy out of Starmers position, his call today has given him the power back. It's an insane decision, if this decision was a Saints signing it would be Livramento. -

Ducks stock pony reply. It doesn't matter anyway, Johnson and the cabinet are now rightly regarded as the worst PM and government ever and they are in their way out. -

I never said that lying started then. Not reading properly again Batman. I said lying AND stretching a honour system. I put the politicising of that letter in the later group and the possible start of this tory aggressive governing style. -

I don't care about cake and beer. I care about lying to parliment and care about a system that operates on honour being stretched by dishonourable tories, a system that is powerless to sanction them. This started when Camerons team politicised that treasury letter tradition and Johnson's lot have taken it to another level. This tory rabble constantly lie in parliment about achievements, statistics, whatever, because they know with the right wing press and tory shackled BBC it doesn't get challenged. People like you claim on one hand that there is a sanction a general election and then smirk and claim on the other hand that this shit doesn't cut through or translate at the ballot box. I also care about this talentless cabinet of sycophants promoted for loyality, brexit position and inadequacy so Johnson isn't challenged. Of power seeping unchallenged from parliment to the executive. Of a tory executive that rewards brexit areas and doesn't govern for the country as a whole. Tories rewarding their mates and wideboy MP's on the take. Well the cut through has happened and if it takes cake to land then so be it. Large swathes of the population have had enough, sick of the lack of consequences and want this lot out. Johnson who has maneuvered for years to get to be PM has fucked it up in double quick time. I couldn't despise the man more and I'm enjoy watching his downfall. -

Exactly, there is no Tory moral high ground (or sunny uplands) here, as much as they scrabble around looking for one. People are now seeing Johnson and his cabinet for what they are and it's a great thing to watch. -

Worthing can in part be explained by people moving along the coast from the more left Brighton. I wonder if this is the thing in West Oxfordshire? Labour still needs to reconnect with the red wall voters, or maybe this is the start of a political flip in the country. -

I grew up in Worthing, it was a political dessert, blue as far as the eye could see, with the Lib Dems as the only hope. Today they have 23 Labour councillors and have won overall control for the first time ever. I never thought I would see that happen. -

Let's see if Durham Police reopen the case into Cummings as well, or have they just caved into to political pressure, as I suspect. -

This is my problem with this government, it is full of talentless nomarks. First you want the government of your choice failing that you want a competent government and I could maybe handle Johnson if he was surrounded by a decent cabinet. But this shower of shit are awful, it's a bunch of aggressive opposition distrupters that find themselves in charge and they can't do it. Likewise, we have a couple of decent Tories around here; Tom Tugendhat, Tracy Crouch and Greg Clarke who are liked by people I know who haved worked with them. But they have either voted against Johnson or resigned in protest, so they are out in the cold. There is something about Andy Burnham, I think he could do a good job and the Mayor roles are becoming decent proving grounds for political leaders. There is chatter about David Milliband coming back, although I think that ship has sailed. We are still in a difficult time for Labour, the GE is still 3 years away, so whilst they need to start standing for something, they can't reveal their hand too soon. My fear is that Steve Baker and the wideboys gun for Johnson on anti net zero issues as Johnson is too green for them and we get someone competent but more right wing. -
You have manage to take a frivolous line of mine and string a couple of days of posts out of it. You would argue over anything, that's why you are a clueless cretin, but I like you.

A prominent tory asked for better talent to be brought into the cabinet. This might be the end for some of the useless sycophants. Johnson will definitely throw them under the bus if he has to and hopefully this results in a few disgruntled lackey briefing against the blond buffoon. -
The kids know you're a clueless cretin from Weston.

100% did, strange thing to make up. Brexit is becoming a term like Poundshop or Lidl or BTEC, used in that context. Spend a short time kicking the ball in the garden with my boy and you'll hear the term. A Brexit penalty is lower on the pecking order than a Sean Dyche, a Sean Dyche is ordinary but effective, a brexit is ordinary and shit.
-
But Brexit is the vision of a group of middle aged guys living in the past, trying to recreate a false memory of some golden era that never existed. Brexit is the political version of removing satellite tv, streaming services and dvds and going back back to 3 channels and very expensive top loader video players. People wouldn't be able to move on from that. I'm glad people are still fighting this political fuck up griffted by elite tory wide boys. Brexit is so shit it's now an insult amoung the kids, my sons 11 year old football team were practicing penalties and one kid did the rubbish toe poke down the middle, the other kids laughed and called it a brexit penalty, I asked what that meant and they all shouted 'rubbish...shit...beyond ordinary'. The kids know.
