  1. Where and when were you at school Bletchy?
  2. I do! didnt use to go there that much - Mados at the back of the Compton Arms was my main hang out but it was great summer pub. I had a Kawasaki Z650 which the previous owner had sprayed a skeleton with a diamond in its eye and tombstone onto the tank, allegedly it had been used for smuggling LSD. The bike always attracted the interest of the Hells Angels who impressed / scared the **** out me in equal measure.
  3. But surely the old post will rot and the spur will become loose? Personally I'd just dig it out, buy a bag of just add water ready mixed concrete and a post and be done with it. It wont take long.
  4. Would prefer to see it in slow mo, but whilst Blackstocks leg looks horrific, Im not sure the challenge is.
  5. I think they use the term 'madam' or 'maid' for those letting agents.
  6. Tbf to Bazza, even though this isnt what he meant - farm land and woodland prices have been going up relentlessly, localised natural disasters apart, .
  7. Thats quite hurtful to Spudders Bletch.
  8. Is this the Cluedo thread? I think Sarb made the big eyed children homeless, in the home counties, using cheap borrowed money.
  9. No more than personal experience tbh - but I dont see why that would be radically different to the general picture. I know probably 20 people who have gone abroad to work or have left intending to emigrate permanently. Only one has stayed. Edit: Tokes was more diligent than me.
  10. The same place you found 'I disagree with this'
  11. Not necessarily. Most people who emigrate end up going home. Relatively few people actually emigrate permanently.
  12. Correct. That is the host committee for the 'Birmingham the Friendly City' conference of the Birmingham Tourist board.
  13. Liverpool not Liverpool?
  14. Its alway odd when the deniers accept with no problem that a single volcano can cause major climate change but deny that 7 billion people driving 1 billion cars and cutting down millions of acres of rain forest will make any difference at all.
  15. Depends what story you're trying to tell. If all the foreigners went home and all the Brits came back we'd have an extra 1.2million people to deal with. Thats the point, and not the story UKIP / Telegraph / Mail would have you believe.
  16. Thats a fair summary, I don't have a problem with the numbers. I suspect that what we are saying isnt actually very different. British people have emigrated in consistent numbers for decades - hence 6 million UK passport holders living abroad. The number of foreign passport holders in the UK is less at around 4.8 million - however many of those have arrived in the last 10 years. Its reasonable to see that as too much immigration too quickly. Its also fair to point out that most of the immigrants are from the new EU accession countries and 45% only plan to stay 1 or two years. I think its an issue that will balance out in a couple of years - if there is reduction in non EU immigration. http://www.ons.gov.uk/ons/rel/census/2011-census/key-statistics-for-local-authorities-in-england-and-wales/rpt-international-migrants.html

    Sheds

Long story including long long wait despite 3 weeks delivery guarantee, failure to deliver to house (left on kerb 100m from house), erectors not turning up, roof blowing off after three days etc. Absolutely ****e customer service. Shame really as the shed is pretty good if you don't take the installation. Things to look out for imo. Make sure its tanalised wood (pressure treated with preservative not just painted on), the wood is at least 12mm thick and the frame is 50mm x 50mm or close.

    Sheds

Do not ever, ever, ever, ever - even if they kidnap your first born - use tigersheds.
  19. Go on then, post them up - don't try and hit and run without backing up the claim. .
  20. and a Saints fan messageboard.
  21. Trouble is Pap those photos are just as fake as the programme - the pictures have been so heavily photoshopped - changing colours, overlaying scenes, altering lighting. Thats not a criticism of Liverpool, just of the pics used.
  22. According to the BBC 2.6 million Brits live in the US, Canada and Australia, more than in Europe. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/shared/spl/hi/in_depth/brits_abroad/html/n_america.stm Thats almost 5million Brits in North America and the EU, let alone the rest of the world. Another 220,000 in South Africa and 200,000 in NZ. There are probably 6million Brits living abroad in total, far more than foreigners living in Britain.
  23. Agree. The problem is lack of house building leading to excessive prices.
  24. No, that would be you. Elderly people are expensive in terms of healthcare and social services. The majority of Brits in Spain have gone there for the warmer weather, lower heating bills and cheaper housing - Spain seems them as economic migrants.
