Hard to know with Burnley whether it was a financial or football decision. You’d expect Kompany to know whether he’s good enough for this level though. I think he’ll be a top CB but he needs to adjust to the speed of the PL quickly.

This isn’t 2012 with a squad full of very obvious talent but a few players letting them down along with a manager that wasn’t quite ready and possibly feeling the effects of a chairman that wanted him out. That was an easy fix. This is a clusterfuck of a squad devoid of the talent required to compete at this level, a manager that’s out of his depth and suicidal tactics to boot.

Bednarek, Stephens, Smallbone, Aribo, Arma and BBD are nothing other than Championship players. Downes and THB I think can do a job in this league but they’re not quite there yet. THB needs to adjust to the speed of this league quickly. Downes was excellent at Newcastle but he’s struggled since. And still some unknowns with some of the other new signings. The only established Premier League talent this squad has got is Ramsdale who’s been here less than a week and KWP who isn’t playing in his preferred position.

I think the performances and tactics have been woeful but you’d struggle to find a manager in world football that would keep this squad up. It’s a championship squad with no goal threat.

Smallbone is the only one telling him he’s got safe options out on the right. Maybe those on the left hand side weren’t expecting him to ping it straight to a Newcastle player but one of them should be telling him to play it out to the right. They all know as much as we do how shit he is with the ball at his feet, make it easier for him.

People are talking like we just played 10 men of City or Arsenal. It was fucking Newcastle, they finished 7th last season and haven’t really strengthened at all. They’ll be 7th or lower again this season. To not get at least a point was a massive fail.
