I guess the 'neutral observers' point of view is that the sequence of events, as they are described there, were somewhat foreseeable. As with any long running dispute (in this case 'Cortese vs Benali') the only way the deadlock can be broken is for one side to 'give in' in the interests of the greater good. It would seem that neither Cortese or Benali are prepared to 'concede' and as such the outcome here was sadly inevitable.

Also get the impression Steven Davis and not Jack Cork will deputise for Schneiderlin tomorrow and that Lambert will come back in.

Gazza Clyne - Fonte - Lovren - Shaw JWP - Wanyama Lambert - Lallana - Jrod Osvaldo Subs: Cropper, Chambers, Yoshida, Cork, Davis, Reed, Gallagher I'm thinking that it would perhaps be better to avoid as many changes to the starting 11 as possible, so I'd slip JWP back into a more defensive midfield role thus keeping Cork and Davis on the bench. This then opens the door for playing both Lambert and Osvaldo with Lambert slotting into JWP's attacking midfield role and Osvaldo up top.

Indeed. Obviously an 18 year old playing for the leanest defence week-in-week-out isn't as "sexy" as an 18 year old scoring a goal for Manchester Utd...
