I'm the first to laugh at how organisations hide behind ridiculous heatlh and safety legislation but just because its ridiculous and an "excuse" doesn't mean they are quite possibly correct (technically).

Indeed, this smacks of journos throwing their toys out of the pram because a club stands up to their sh*t stirring for once...

MLG - fancy doing some research into whether other clubs have similar health and safety restrictions? (regardless of whether they adhere to them or not)? Cheers

Hmmm.... with the next court date looming, I assume the timing of this 'shot across the bows' from the Football League is significant respect of the court case.....with my conspiracy hat on, maybe even Birch himself urged the FL to release a statement so that he can play the sympathy card in front of the judge next week? "Look m'lud....the FL have issued an ultimatum.....only you can save the club now by agreeing to the lowest valuation of Fratton Park...."

Even if he does end up there (which I very much suspect he will) its been entertaining watching the squirming and the "he's ours - he's great" / "he's theirs - he's not all that" to-ing and fro-ing from LFC fans on Twitter

This is the salient observation for me. Even whether you agree or disagree with MLT coming out with these 'digs' in public, the fact of the matter is that he doesn't actually say anything that further enlightens his audience. So, I don't think the problem is the fact he says stuff per se, it's the 'nudge nudge wink wink' delivery that probably winds people up most.
