This would be my guess. Rightly or wrongly Puncheon has a reputation for going off the boil when not playing for a new contract. Reading between the lines in his interviews this season I think he's matured in that respect but wouldn't surprise me if he's on a promise of a decent new contract if he helps the club stay in the premier league.

Slight tangential thought.... Maybe this is why Gazza has got the goalkeeping nod ahead of Davis and Boruc, so that Ramirez has someone who can act as a translator on the pitch. They normally start arriving about 2 hours before kick off (Car park next to chapel stand). I often get there around that time to watch the players arrive with my son. It's never very crowded at that time so easy to get aitographs and pictures etc. Have never hung around after the game so can't compare with that.

And there was me assuming they were laughing at Ball's ineptitude...
