My original post was a little sloppy TBH. It was supposed to be tongue-in-cheek but, looking back, it probably didn't come across 'jovial' enough. I guess if there was a semi-serious undertone to where I was coming from is that I tend not to pass any comment or judgement on a new player until they've been around for a while. That's not to say initial impressions aren't valid, it's just not something I tend to post. What gives me "pleasure" is seeing players who go on to blossum after a perceived indifferent or 'not setting the world alight' start. Ergo, my flippant tendancies aside, the pleasure I allude to is not directed at anyone in particular, it's just a nice thing to see happen in general. In the same way its not nice to see a new player set the world alight in his first few games then drift away thereafter.

Hmm, not quite the same picture that the nice glossy brochure paints! The silver package includes a "sumptuous buffet" but for an extra £35 quid I'm not convinced! cheers for the feedback though - appreciated. Maybe Boxing Day was a bit different to usual given it was the Christmas period and all that (i.e. maybe not as much staff on duty etc)?

My son's 12th birthday coincides with the last game of the season and I'm thinking of having a bit of a family/friends do in hospitality. For those that have done something similar before, is hospitality conducive to celebrating a 12 year old's birthday or it is more of a 'blokes in suits' environment? I'm not talking a 'balloon and cake' event here but just somewhere different for him to enjoy his birthday with a few friends and family. Cheers for any feedback. Also, do you think it's worth paying extra for the silver packager over bronze? (i.e. £75+VAT vs £40+VAT) (p.s. I have already contacted the hospitality dept at the club and it sounds OK but just wanted to tap into any experience people have had on here with this age group)

For example, if say 20,000 years ago, a caveman had a child born with a serious disability, would they have cared for that child even if it put the larger family / social group at a disadvantage, or would they have done what a 'less compassionate' species would have done and leave the child to die in the interest of the greater good of the group as a whole? Which action is more 'socially' aware? That of the human race (as it has evolved today) or that of the wild pack or herd?
