I appreciate this will attract the wrath of @Lord Duckhunter (if/when he/she/it decides to come out of hiding of course), and I know this can be filed under "yes, he would say that, wouldn't he".... but... Lampard seems to genuinely admire our football club. That said, here's hoping he's not all smiles at 5pm on Saturday!

How does hoping that the current manager ends up at a bigger club when his tenure ends here make us "seem like very small fry"? I hope Ralph ends up as successful as possible after he leaves Saints as it would signify, in part, that he's been successful here. Maybe I'm missing some logic here somewhere...?

That's what I would have thought... Hope they've got a plan B up their sleeve in that case!

Just a thought..... I wonder how and when the Everton team were planning on travelling down for Saturday's game....?

I'm with Bednarek on this, in principle. If Ralph goes on to manage one of the biggest/bigger teams in world football then it'll be due, in part, to him ending up doing a great job here. I'd rather that than him having done a poor job overall by the end of his tenure and thus not attracting the attention of said big clubs.

Indeed. Leicester were able to "Do a Leceister" not because they realistically thought they could win the league that season, but because they set themselves the target of a solid top half finish. One of the main factors in them winning the league was due to the traditional 'big 6' having a perfect storm below par season. Semmen's "solid top 10" strategy puts us in the best position to pinch a place in Europe, or a cup win, every now and then, ergo it's as ambitious as we can realistically expect to be.
