  1. Did I say every game? No Have some games already this season been sold out 1 to 2 weeks before matchday - yes - Man Utd and Spurs for example Have we played every home game yet? No Have Saints still got to play Arsenal, Chelsea, Man City, Liverpool at home? Yes The last game of the season will also sell quickly vs Stoke. As will others close to the end of the season if there is still someone signicant riding on them late in the season.
  2. Do you think Aston Villa need a 40k stadium? This season they have had any attendance similar to the lowest Saints attendance at 28k, but also when Man Utd strolled into town 40k turned up. If Villa Park was capped at 32,000 capacity this season then their average would be similar to Southampton's. Yet Villa when they were riding high in 6th place in recent years were averaging close to their 40k capacity.

  4. What was effectively a Championship title deciding game at Championship prices is obviously going to be more appealing than a Premier League relegation battle at Premier League prices. A stadium expansion wouldn't be based on the assumption we'll be battling it out at the bottom of the league every season. It is only worth doing if it coincides with investment at first team level to make the product appealing to a wider fanbase. As things stand, we aren't a great side, yet are still close to maxing out our ground, Turkish in particular always fails to grasp this.
  5. If we didn't sign Rodriguez, what would be our options to play in the 4-2-3-1 system in Lambert's role if he was injured or suspended? Plus, Rodriguez is 7 years younger than Lambert and can be moulded into his long term replacement over the coming years. For £6m (some of which will be in clauses/delayed payment) I still think he is a good buy.
  6. Depends on a lot of things (many of which we don't know), but Newcastle were able to keep a lot of good players when they went down.
  7. Okay, just Turkish. But Kraken, you and Turkish still are continuing to start pointless threads such as these and/or making posts going off on a tangent in other threads in order to bait me into slogging it out with you both again. With only 1,852 seats available in blocks 1 to 42 with 3 days of selling left, does Turkish's opening post to this thread make any sense?
  8. vs Reading with 3 more days of ticket sales to come, blocks 1 to 42 have only 1,852 available seats. At no point did I say games against weak teams with Saints in a relegation scrap would sell out long in advance of kickoff. But with 3 days of selling time to go, we will get close to capacity of a 32,000 stadium to watch a relatively poor Saints side in the relegation zone. For a team in a relegation fight that is very good, the demand would only go up if we were doing well this season. Kraken's and Turkish's arguments fall apart on this and they still don't get it. We are nearly maxing out the stadium watching a relegation scrap, if the team was any good the stadium would simply be too small.
  9. £15m isn't £6m more than £10.75m. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/19342136 Plus, Jarvis is 2 years older, not on as long a contract, not the team captain, was at a Championship club and imo not as good.
  10. Hard to see Nicola Cortese doing business with Alan Pardew at any price, let alone at £5m for our 24 year captain and one of our star players that still has years left on his contract.
  11. The first clip was from a Dutch news channel (it was widely reported globally) rather than a British comedy programme, both about the same subject. Neither of which warrant what Thedelldays said.
  12. What about bears? I've taken this thread somewhat off on a tangent. But then it is a nonsense thread entitled "Is Adkins job untenable" that has dragged on for four pages! ffs
  13. Only ESPN and ITV have live FA Cup rights in the UK.
  14. At least let the cat serve a purpose after its death...
  15. So what would you propose Saints do at left back? Shaw is clearly already good enough to start Premier League games, if you want to dip him in and out occasionally what senior left back will you get to join the club to do that? We already have Fox at the club and although he isn't great he can cover that role. If for example we signed Buttner in the summer and started him every game, where would that leave Shaw's development?
  16. Do you not think we need squad depth and options off the bench? Plus with Rodriguez being 7 years younger, he can be the long term Lambert replacement. You may be right, but I still think it is still too early to say that. This is irrelevant, Shaw has more than held his own and really doesn't look out of place at all. Bringing in another left back would hold back Shaw's progress. I agree. Puncheon couldn't get in the team in 2010/11 because Lallana and Oxlade-Chamberlain are better players. That is what led to him being loaned out, with Oxlade-Chamberlain gone, the wounds healed Puncheon is back in. Lets see your rebuttals...
  17. Or... he has gone back to Uruguay for a family bereavement?
  18. It is not live on ESPN or ITV... http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/fa-cup-games-televised-live-1472565 So will be on Saturday 5th January at 3pm.
  19. Of course I do, but I think Mayuka would have been useful in both games with 20 minutes to go in place of Puncheon. Perhaps Adkins doesn't think Mayuka defensively is as good as Puncheon at the moment and bringing him on might have cost us vs Norwich with the game poised at 1-1. But vs Liverpool bringing Mayuka on when we were losing and struggling for the ball at 1-0 might have been worth it.
  20. I don't know, I would have put Mayuka on vs Norwich and Liverpool.
  21. Nor did a lot of his teammates.
  22. Nigel has enough confidence to put him on the bench, but Puncheon is playing well at the moment. That is why Mayuka isn't playing, although I'd like him to be given more game time.
  23. I thought I was making quite a clear hint that they might think differently.
  24. When we last played a top team in the FA Cup as a League One side vs Man Utd in 2010 we used this... 24 Bialkowski 03 Harding 06 Fonte 12 Butterfield 19 Seaborne 04 Schneiderlin 11 Guly (N'Guessan 79) 26 Oxlade-Chamberlain 30 Chaplow (Gobern 84) 07 Lambert 09 Barnard (Dickson 73) Does't look like a "development squad" to me!
  25. Because Saints were denied a clear goal and the actions of the Man Utd player prevented them winning the game by cheating late on it the match with that handball. It matters not that you should score penalties, it shouldn't have come to that.
