  1. Hard to understand why they keep referring to what previous clubs that came second in League One did once they were in the Championship. How is that relevant? You should take each team on its own merits, not look at completely different teams, with different budgets, resources, management and players.
  2. You talk of "ignorance" and "reading up", yet you can't spell "Waghorn", "Rodriguez" or "Gorkšs" correctly, despite claiming to be aware of them. Funny that...
  3. What makes you so sure Cortese "pulls the plug" if the press get wind of a transfer? It makes little sense to act like that, as it doesn't really matter and I have yet to see any evidence that is how Cortese acts.
  4. End of thread really...
  5. Rodriguez isn't eligible anymore, he is 22 years old.
  6. Lallana is 23 years old. He is no longer eligible for the under 21's! He was eligible for the UEFA under 21 Euro tournament in the summer because he was under 21 when the qualifying started. In any case, Lallana and Chamberlain both received international recognition at under 21 level whilst in League One with Southampton.
  7. Jay Rodriguez is no longer eligible for the under 21's.
  8. What makes you think Cortese has ever cancelled a deal because the press reported it before it was officially concluded? It makes no difference to the deal and is certainly not a reason to pull out.
  9. Signing Fox, Cork and De Ridder puts Saints quite high on the Championship spenders list for 2011/12. Plus, the squad didn't need that much added to it anyway as a lot of spending had already taken place. If Lallana, Connolly, Guly, Schneiderlin, Lambert and Fonte had signed for Saints this summer along with Fox, Cork and De Ridder, following through your own logic you'd be delighted? Just so happens the squad was already largely in place and didn't need much more than a tweak to be competitive at the top end of the Championship, as highlighted with four league wins out of four in the embryonic league campaign so far.
  10. "Doing the rounds" where?
  11. The data is meant to be for a game starting in early July 2011, based on what they did in 2010/11 and not what they do in August, September or October of the 2011/12 season. I'm sure Lallana and Fonte will be 130 CA players, but they have to prove it first. At the moment they will just have ratings reflecting they were exceptional players in League One (in any case that still makes them good Championship players, just not exceptional ones).
  12. Lallana and Fonte will need to have a good season in the Championship (or by the end of January before the data update) before they get near 130 CA. Cork was already at that level in FM11.
  13. It is true. (admittedly only marginally bigger and both games were on TV) West Ham vs Cardiff 25,680 http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/14356630.stm Southampton vs Leeds 25,960 http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/14351913.stm
  14. Forest vs Leicester 24k (big derby game) Derby vs Doncaster 23k Saints vs Millwall 23k Brighton Blackpool 19k Bristol City vs Pompey 12k Burnley vs Cardiff 13k Coventry vs Watford 13k Hull vs Palace 17k Peterborough vs Ipswich 7k Reading vs Barnsley 15k Saints relative to similar sized clubs are getting what you should expect in the conditions. Saints vs Leeds in week one had a higher attendance than West Ham vs Cardiff. August is holiday season and Millwall aren't exactly a family friendly opponent. To get 23k is a very good attendance in the Championship.
  15. You are disappointed to get 23k vs Millwall, in the Championship, in August? Have you seen the other attendances around the country?
  16. Why do you believe him?
  17. It is a sticky thread at the top of the page... http://www.saintsweb.co.uk/showthread.php?24915-Libel-Reminder-Use-of-Main-Board-Rules-Useful-Links
  18. I like to think so. And so (I hope) do my 248 followers.

  20. Hard to believe this is even a discussion point. The commentator is an idiot! It clearly hits the metal crossbar and rebounds back at force. Those poles holding up the nets are made out of bendy plastic, if the ball hit them you'd see them wobble all over the place and the ball would lose all its energy and certainly not come back out onto the pitch as it did.
  21. They mainly want rid of him because he is on £40k - £50k per week. Hence Hull have been looking for any excuse to end that deal asap. I bet if he was on £15k p/w they would overlook whatever he did (within reason) and wouldn't be trying to cancel his contract. In any case, where would he fit into the Saints squad? And at 32 years old with huge wage demands, he doesn't exactly fit the profile for Saints signings.
  22. Paul Jewell says otherwise.
  23. Care to tell us more?
  24. Lets play a game! Spot when Rupert Lowe left, the club went into administration and relegation to League One was (more or less) confirmed...? 2008/09 3rd Feb Sheff Utd 13,257 21st Feb Preston 14,790 28th Feb Cardiff 18,526 10th Mar Derby 17,567 14th Mar QPR 18,691 4th April Charlton 27,228 13th April Palace 23,220 23th April Burnley 23,927 Still think there was no protest Corporate Ho? When Pompey went into admin in the league above the crowds plummeted to 16k (or 14k home fans) at Fratton Park, whilst playing Premier League teams in a 20k stadium! After administration, Pompey in the Premier League...! vs Hull 16,513 vs Blackburn 16,207 vs Aston Villa 16,523 Even a game against Chelsea only saw roughly 16k Pompey fans in a crowd of 18,753! I don't know why you and other Pompey fans think Saints have had "it easy" and only a short period of trouble. From 2004 to 2009 the club was in a total mess. That is quite a long period!
