Every team the size of Saints would have a large number of people involved with a transfer. The management/Les Reed/coaches/European Scout team/Cortese etc etc would all be involved. I would be hugely surprised if Adkins didn't want De Ridder. He would have been proposed to Adkins by the scouting department after he told them to look for a winger, Adkins would then give his approval and the ultimate decision would be Cortese as he signs the cheques. By no means does that make it "not an Adkins signing".

The problem with Agustin Delgado wasn't his ability, he was clearly a very good player. For example he was the top goal scorer in the 2002 South American World Cup qualifying campaign. It was his attitude and injury problems that made his stay at Saints a nightmare.

He has been training with Saints since the start of July, went to Leicestershire and Switzerland with the team and played against St Gallen in a friendly on Saturday.

I didn't need to do any massaging Nick. You said he wasn't "prolific at League One level", I showed you he has a very good record. It looks even better when you factor in that he played for a poor Southend United team, had a hernia operation, hand injury, ankle injury, court case and kept being subbed by Saints around 60/70 minutes in games or coming on for the last 20/30 minutes only. His goal per minutes on pitch ratio is impressive. He is much more than just a hard worker.

38 League One goals in two seasons is prolific though isn't it? Especially when you factor in some of the injuries he had, reduced game time (being a sub/being subbed) and a court case hanging over him.

Really? He scored 24 League One goals in 2009/10. He scored 14 League One goals in 2010/11, in a season hampered by a hernia operation, an ankle injury and a court case. He was also often subbed or came on as a sub reducing game time to score goals.

Seven subs is only a relatively recent thing in the Football League in the last few years. The vast majority of teams named a sub keeper when it was five subs before the change. It should just return to how it was done before.

Forte is English to all extents and purposes. Born and raised in England and played all his football at English club. Just playing for Barbados because he has no chance with England and one or more of his parents/grandparents is a Barbadian. He has spent at least 3 years at an English (or Welsh in the English league system) club before the age of 21 coming through at Rotherham and Sheffield United's academy and thus qualifies as "home grown".
