  1. Never thought we would go down this season so never looked at the run-in. If we had been in that bottom 6 last three games of Everton/ManC/ManU would have been classic squeaky bum time.
  2. Either you're deliberately misleading people here or your even more gullible than you seem. If you had bought the first four games of the season on PAYG and all against the same customer number you would have been entitled to buy ONE Man U tkt when they went to open sale .... which would have been for you .... you would still not have been able to bring your beloved +1 under this scenario either. If you had bought 8 games under the same customer number you would still have been eligible for only ONE Man U tkt (not 2 x 4). If you had bought 8 tickets for one game under the same customer number you would still have been eligible for only ONE Man U tkt (not 2 x 4). To make your PAYG scheme realistic you have to decide how many tkts you want for a particular future glory game (say in your case it's yourself +2) and then build up relevant histories against three separate customer numbers, this could get a bit expensive if it's only you on your own for those less glamorous games though. I do agree with your broad point though; if you are going to definitely miss 3 or 4 games a season, and you're not over-fussed about seeing some of the lesser teams, and you really really want to see all the big games, then for a single person buying the first four games of the season on PAYG is definitely a viable option.... However let's not confuse this customer profile with having a ST which is a completely different beast .... paying up front for 19 games, at a discount (your choice how many games you attend), same seat every week, no tkt to sort/payment to make every time you want to go to a game, first dibs on cup ties including semis and finals etc. On a slight tangent: your suggestion that 4 PAYG games be increased to 10. I think people massively over-estimate the number of people that buy regular walk-up tkts. The figure of 4 would have been set by the box office based on the figures on their records and the number of tkts available, if '000s of fans had 6 or 8 or 10 games it would have been set much higher; when we got to the Cardiff cup final 'general sale' started at 8 home games (including the cup games), I know cos I got three tkts on 11/11/9 and was knocked back for a fourth tkt on 7 (total games attended 38, tkts required 4 x 8, 32, ticket office said no).
  3. I thought that one was one of the more allegedly 'reliable' rumours?
  4. So to summarise, we have about 6000 tkts available on a match-by-match basis and we generally sell between 4000 to 6000 of these every game, to a mixture of pay per game fans and ST holders. It would appear that a minority of ST holders think that for certain games (all games) they should have first dibs on the 6000 available tkts, regardless of how many extra tkts they've purchased for previous games in a season, or how many tkts non-ST holders may have bought. To the extent that for a popular fixture the ground could conceivably be full of ST holders and their (once a season) 'plus-ones', over non-STs who have been to four games-plus. Thankfully most people seem to think the current system is the fairest way to ensure we have as many Saints fans in the ground for any particular game and the fewest tkts going to away fans/neutrals as possible.

  6. Dreadful! Don't know viva voce but we'll move on; 80,000 words in 6 months. 13.500 words a month, 3000 words a week, 75 words an hour. And they say nurses have it tough....
  7. Obviously most of us would prefer to still be struggling in the Championship with Lowe/Wilde/the Dutch masters etc. but relegation didn't work out too bad for us in the long run did it?
  8. Upper or lower? We were in the lower and it was dismal. Bits and pieces in the first half and literally I can't remember one chant in the second half. Good to see they've re-introduced standing at Spuds though. I used to go there a lot but gave up going there when we were previously in the Prem as at that time they had some of the most officious and aggressive stewards I've ever seen anywhere. That's all changed now though, 100% standing in the lower tier and all the way across their fans behind the goal. I didn't see any attempt to get any one to sit all game, you have to wonder who makes up and who enforces these rules?
  9. So we've got to 1-0 19 times out of 31 and to 0-1 11 times out of 31, so far, very good. I would have thought being turned over from 1-0 up (or better) to losing the game 4 times out of 19 is a pretty high %ge? As witnessed by the fact that we haven't been able to do it once to anybody else despite having 11 chances to do so .
  10. Would love to see somebody complete this table: P31 Scored first and won __ (number of games) Scored first and drew __ Scored first and lost ___ Oppo score first and we win ___ Oppo score first and we draw ___ Oppo score first and we lose ___ 0-0 draws ____ (zero?) Feel free to add home/away/previous seasons/other teams etc. My perception would be we are quite good at scoring first but the not so good at converting that first blood into 3 points, I was wondering if the facts bear that out? Damn those dangerous 2 goal leads.
  11. Funny game to call, entertaining but not of a particularly high standard from either team. First half fairly level, Saints played very well when we had the ball and scored two good goals, we weren't as good as usual when we didn't have the ball and we looked wide open at times with Fonte and Lovren both regularly having to go on emergency manoeuvres to bail us out. First goal was a sickener and if we had got to HT at 2-0 we may well have turned the crowd and got something out of the game. Completely asleep at the start of the second half and never matched Spurs bright start (which was always going to happen, we should have been ready for a massive 10 minutes and we weren't, and that ultimately cost us the game). Despite Spurs turning the heat up second half we restricted them to very few chances and made occasional progress ourselves, Spurs always looked like they might have a winner in them but it was annoyingly late when it did come. Lambert surprisingly good for the first 30 minutes, he's definitely not finished (he did very little second half but was feeding on scraps), reckon he would make an excellent impact sub/squad player next season, the sort of game-changer we don't currently have on the bench. Strong performance from JRod (was he injured for the sub?). Flashes from GR but he didn't really have the impact we were looking for. What's happened to Clyne, his confidence looks shot. I love Shaw and I'd love him to stay but if we receive silly money I'm sure we can replace with a half competent LB, we seem to concede quite a few goals from that side of the pitch. Bit of a mixed away day, first time I've been to WHL for a number of years and it was better than I remember it. Good bants in the pub(s) pre-match and Spurs fans who came over as quite realistic about their current position etc. Stewards v fan friendly, decent views but where oh where were the Saints fans? Don't know what the upper was like but we were in the lower and it was shocking, we gave it a bit of a go in the first half but the fans, rather like the team forgot to turn up in the second half. It really was one of the quietest away days I have ever been on.... ho hum. Season definitely over now with the other results at the weekend. We will try for Swansea tkts but I really can't see us selling many more tkts home or away between now and the end of the season, shame considering the buzz up till Xmas time.
  12. We've finished top 8 in three of the last four seasons, didn't anyone tell you? 8th is the new 17th, get behind the team FFS!

    Cortese?

  14. Watford away, one love, one Saints. I'm not spending the next 6 months playing will-he-won't-he. Que sera sera.
  15. #over-thinking things,
  16. yep, been very consistent this season.
  17. Saw Bendtner playing at SMS for Birmingham in the 4-4 (?) orange boots, he looked like the next Bergkamp that night, he had everything: pace, touch, strength, movement. Weird how one career goes one way and one goes another.
  18. We're already everybody's favourite second team aren't we? The Newcastle of the South if you will. The challenge is to convert those floating voters into bums-on-seats/on-line purchases at the club shop. (I haven't read the link but let me know if I've got this hopelessly wrong).
  19. That'll be why we didn't push for the Europa Lge then, there's more money and profile to be had in 2 or 3 mid-week friendly jaunts to the winter sun than toiling around Europe's far-flung lesser spots on a Thursday night. Possibly.
  20. I reckon the nipper Lineker at Leicester would do well in our side.
  21. Fair play to BJ. RIP.
  22. I'll raise you Sheff Utd and we get to play in stripes again.
  23. Dyson air blades?
  24. Just about to post the same, glad I scrolled right down. You can see how much we have improved/moved on .... no nominations above for MS/RL/NC, last couple of seasons those three would have been right in the frame. I don't really have a stand out individual - the main enjoyment of our play this season has been the all-for-one team ethic and the togetherness of the whole squad (pretty much!), and the technical and tactical improvements MP has added to just about all the individual players - I'd be equally happy if they gave it to any of Lovren/Lallana/Fonte/Cork/S Davis.
