Season fizzling out with a predictable whimper, I only saw the second half but i thought we were 'OK'. We dominated the play and had a number of half chances and one or two that were better than that but predictably we have nobody sharp enough or savvy enough to craft a half chance into a goal. In the bit I saw, other than the goal, I can't remember West Ham having even one half-decent passage of play (more than 5-6 consecutive touches) in the whole 45 minutes. They did score three goals, one was offside, second one they bullied us much too easily in our own 6 yd box, third one we were chasing the game and our back 4 was all over the shop. Move on, I would rather watch our football every week and lose some games than watch their long balls and sharp elbows. Has anyone established yet whether VW was fit? We need to get SG some decent game time for the remainder of the season, he looked v lively against Arsenal and needs a bit of a run while there's not too much on it. Feel really bad for Clyne, one of our very best players over the last couple of seasons, can't see us keeping both of them happy next season?

Pochettino would "jump at the chance to manage PSG"

I'm sure there's plenty on here that would drive him there themselves..... -
Cool, I spotted 91% of correct words and incorrectly claimed 7% of the non-words were real words. Net score 84% 'the highest level' according to the testers but I would have thought 94% would have been even better!

Can't believe we've got him back so soon. He has clear history with us (Norwich H+A, Arsenal A, Everton A), ridiculous appointment.

This crossed my mind too, was this MoPo's 'Pardew-at-Swindon' moment? 'You expect me to play in the Europa League with this shower of shi7? Get real, I need another 5-6 first team players before we even think about Europe....'

Really? Where has anybody named a club of similar size/stature to us who has won so little? They haven't, because there isn't one, if you compile a list of the 20-30 'biggest' clubs in the country they have pretty much all won more than Saints (Norwich might be the only example but I wouldn't have them as currently as 'big' as us, or in a historical 'top 30').

So finishing above Man U is more important than silverware?

Good effort, feel your pain. Just feel numb that this is what football has become. Why did we back the team all the way down the leagues and all the way back up again if we then capitulate at the final hurdle? Really good away support at Swindon, Southend, Orient, Tranmere, Carlisle, Hartlepool, Gillingham etc etc etc, Don't those fans deserve to get something back? Fecking 12-45 kick off at the other end of the country and 800 people still got themselves up there. Poor effort today from the club, the manager and the players. -
Lallana is 1 presumably? I didn't see Cork, Lovren, Schneiderlin, Boruc, J Rod in the starting X1 ... who do you think is Saints second 'best' player? Guess you'll say Shaw ..... he's good, but he's not our second best / second most important player.

I was reading the new GCSE Maths specs on Tuesday morning: it will no longer be necessary to teach conversions and equivalents from metric to imperial measures. Switched to the local Kent Online newspaper/website to find that a sink hole had appeared in the central reservation of the M2 measuring '5 metres by 2 metres and approximately 15 feet deep'. Duh!

Looks like Stuart Hall got unlucky with his jury?

why league season isn't ordinary - Man U's rivals?

Thanks for the link, always good to read some decent football chat, though with all the names flying about on there you do wonder why the u21's aren't current world champions! -
ridiculously late cancellations midweek, anything in the NW could have been knocked on the head by 15-00 today.

This shows it well http://www.premierleague.com/en-gb/matchday/form-guide.html?tableView=homeAwayTotalComparison We've won 3 of our last 6 away games and only lost once We've won 1 in our last 6 at home (although that did include Man City, Arsenal, Chelsea and Spurs) Overall we are unbeaten in 6. Looks like if we could maintain our away form next season and win more home games we would be genuinely threatening 5/6 place? We can't win 'every game' but 3 points at home from Sunderland, West Ham, Villa and Stoke is a disappointing return in anyone's book, if we'd won any one of those 4 winnable games we would now be sitting at worst in equal 7th with Man U. Good stuff.

Don't think anyone is saying that he is better than Lovren/Fonte are they? He is third choice for a reason. What people are saying is that he has come in and done well, which he very much has. Perfectly good back up and as people have said CBs need a couple of games to get the partnership going. Not sure we will get a better third choice CB? We might sign a new starter to play with Lovren but I can't see Fonte wanting to drop to the bench at this stage of his career and after the form he's showed this season.

Commercialisation and the impact on Saints Fans

Think you might get more/better feedback face-to-face with 10 or 15 'interviews'? I had a look at the questionnaire but I didn't complete it, sorry. Lots of closed questions to which I had mainly open answers! What are you studying out of interest? -
Done, not sure what my answers tell you but you can only answer the questions put in front of you. Guess you need to find loads of 20-somethings who buy loads of tkts to sold-out events via social media? Interesting proposition though, please come back and post up your conclusions.

Not sure we could easily sign a CB that would displace Fonte or improve the team? We could certainly do with strengthening here squad-wise but not sure new man would be a guaranteed improvement or that the Lovren/Fonte combo has been a source of weakness this season? Much bigger priorities for me would be a top GK and a really consistent, pacey striker; if we had been able to field a top line GK every game this season, Yoshi had played instead of Hoiveld where needed (weird decision?) and Osvaldo had scored 20 goals we could have been top-6 this season.
-
This so needs to happen but not sure it will! We say this every World Cup and they still seem to cling on till the next one, Glenn Johnson is another one. Blank piece of paper .... Shaw, Cork and Lallana to start plus 8 others ... JRod and Clyne in the squad ... won't happen but it probably should.

Was going to say David Armstrong but Wiki has him down for 1 or 2 apps while with Saints. Would love to have seen Deano play for England, was top drawer in his time for us.

Where's the MOTD theme? Have we just watched history (or have I just been massively whooshed?)

Shane Long, occasional worldie scorer or half decent Prem striker?

Saints third goal class (first time I've seen it).

Where's the9 when we need him?
