  1. How many Arsenal players would get in the Saints side? I was sat with some neutrals at the Chelsea away game and they said Clyne, Shaw and Morgan would all walk into their starting X1, reckon it could be more? ................... Boruc ........................ Clyne ..... Yoshi ...... ????? ....... Shaw ............ Morgan .... Wilshire ............... Walcott .... Carzola ......... Podolski ............... SRL ........................ Bench Arse GK One CB from Fonte/Forren/Vermarlonnon Arse's best FB (they haven't really got a good one) Cork Lallana / (Ox?) Ramirez Giroud Are they getting worse or are we getting better? (or a bit of both?)
  2. Chris Perry did a decent job for us. Legs had gone but he compensated with his experience and always gave his all. Remember the total capitulation at Hillsborough that pretty much sent us down from the Champ to Lge 1, him and KD played them on their own that day.
  3. Andorra is fantastic, reds and blacks are unpisted and skiing on 20-30cm powder, plus unlimited off piste and tree skiing if you like that sort of thing. It snowed all night last night, sunny and ridiculously warm today (must have been 0 to -2 and no wind), snowing hard again this evening, so same again tomorrow. Ridiculously busy today, snow and sun and weekend = carnage, hopefully quieter tomorrow.
  4. I am in Andorra next week (school trip, freebies can't be choosers), they are having an excellent season. Arcalis (which is an excellent 'unknown' resort) is currently skiing on 'fresh snow' with 20-30cm to come over the weekend, bring it on!
  5. Although he did interview Eddie Howe first and flirted with Phil Brown too before deciding on Adkins? Judging on what we now know you can bet that NC also had a wandering eye abroad, particularly to Italy, and it looks likely that with the budget he was operating on he could easily have afforded a bigger name (if he could get anyone to drop to Lge One). Not sure the appointment of NA was as one-dimensionally obvious as hindsight would make it appear.
  6. Speak for yourself. There were a few that knew who he was and who could see what potentially a good fit he was for us. I remember chucking my toys when NC started playing hard ball with Scunny over compo and it looked like it might all fall through. I never really wanted anyone else, Mowbray was my second choice at the time (not sure how that would have worked out?) and I would also have taken either one of those two SaintsWeb anti-christs Holloway or Warnock (reckon either of those two would have taken us through two leagues with the set-up we had). Clearly NA was an inspired appointment from NC, it's worked out almost perfectly for NC, less so for NA, but let's not think 'anyone' could have taken us through two leagues in two seasons. Anybody too 'big' might have found it hard to work with NC and his vision, and his hands-on transfer policy (his selection policy?), any body too small would have been blown away by the pressure of NC; NA was just perfect and played his part in the vision to perfection. Cortese, football genius, or lucky general?
  7. ... and for everything else, there's SaintsWeb.
  8. Loving this thread, the number of people on here that six months ago thought Cork wasn't up to it. Reckon 50% of posters on here were agitating for new or better players at the start of the season. 'Cork, one of those players that gets better and better the more he doesn't play', absolutely typical comment from the first month of the season and there were loads more where that came from.
  9. Agreed, bit extreme moving a whole river system.
  10. Was the kr.ap Schneiderlin song sung on Saturday?
  11. Maloney is decent, one of the best players I have seen at SMS this season. Scharner was excelent last time round. El Habsi has been very inconsistent of late.
  12. Removes derogatory comment to Leigh RMI. How many do Leigh Centurians get? Reminder to self; assumptions make an ass out of you and me. .
  13. this. pre-season friendly at Gillingham, cursory first half and rolled off at half time. Second half hevappeared down the front of the away fans terraces, saints kit on, sweat shirt round his shoulders, flip flops on and fag in hand.chatted with him for a good 10 minutes, top bloke and in his own way a decent player for us. He used to be a policeman too.
  14. Excellent news for them and massively deserved. Shows how well we are doing, we're starting to be competitive with the rest of the league and with other teams that have squads where most of the players are full internationals and a large number of those players have European or tournament experience. Two of our regular starters haven't played at u21 level yet, brilliant stuff. If anybody wants to look it up: how many Prem lge teams have fewer full internationals in their squads than we've got? Maybe Norwich or Reading? Sunderland? Villa? Who've we got? Boruc, Yoshida, Forren, Davis, Myuka, Ramirez ... that's 6, is there anymore?
  15. This! God-awful effort, it was a few rows behind us and it seemed it was getting on everybody else's tits after a couple of rounds. Other than that our support was pretty good last night.
  16. Typical Fergie mind games - he knows his team got lucky last night and it costs nothing for him to say some warm words for the plucky losers. He'll know more than anyone that Cithee have a tricky looking away at Saints coming up and anything he says to boost us and unsettle them can only be to his good. I'm sure he did admire our performance from the comfort of his 3 points but he looked pretty agitated for most of the second half, bet we wouldn't have got this comment if we'd drawn 2-2, or even won it! Beeb gave us a very good report driving home on 5 Live last night and we also had a very positive summary on the Today programme this morning at 6-30 and 7-30, bloody BBC and their anti-Saints agenda.
  17. Yep, he's gotta get it badly wrong somewhere ......
  18. Really, really poor player. A headband and an unusual fore name do not a right back make. Kept out Cranie and Baird but guess that was par for us at that time.
  19. whats it like getting out on the metro afters?
  20. Total ****take. Do people pay a lot of money to watch football to see a manager name 3 gks in a 17 man squad? He has clearly weakened his own team with this selection, how does this play out with every other team in the league if it does go on to influence the result? In this case it didn't but should he be playing club politics with every other team's future? PS Please feel free to ignore A Pardew away v Swindon!
  21. If 'arry ad bin a jockey he would have been warned off years ago. Seems to look on football as his own personal fiefdom / cash machine. Are there no longer 'any' rules about fielding your strongest side? This is a complete disrespect to the fans / other teams / the game. Wot a complete ****.
  22. More like 4-2-4 for a lot of it, our most 'wide open' display of the season? We had J Rod RW, RL high, Ramirez up near him, and AL on LM/LW, add in Richardson, Fox, JWP, Davis and Gazzinga (no MS or Cork or Punch or Shaw or Clyne) and 1-3 was probably one of our best results of the season! It's clear to see how far we've come since then.....
  23. I was married in Jan 88 so that must have been a belated wedding present for me. It was my 25th anniversary a couple of weeks ago and going up tomorrow with the nippers (22 and 23 now ye gods), missus will have to cook her own tea. Win tomorrow, what a lovely 25th anniversary present for Saints and for me, if Carling did wedding anniversaries .... .
  24. Hard to see that stat being beaten, whether it is 44k or 54k, Would have to be a massive club v a tiny one in a JPT final, the massive club to get a massive allocation and the tiny one not to want more than a tiny allocation .... not going to happen is it?
