  1. Not at all sure NA will be 'happy' at Reading, Noddy club and he deserves better. A part of him will always be thinking what might have been and he will never get Reading to the level that we are now. Would have loved to have sen him go to a proper club; Leeds, wolves, Forest all have more potential and challenge than Reading.
  2. That's a young Mick Channon!
  3. Together as One
  4. Eric Dier? Slightly better than Fred Rank.
  5. LOL! Always read to the end of a thread before posting a reply.
  6. Agree totally but what I don't get is what is the linesman's jurisdiction in these cases? The lino on Newcastle's left back would have had a good view, and to a lesser extent the linesman on the opposite side would also have seen it? We had exactly the same situation on Saturday, Coutinho followed through with a sneaky nasty one on Clyne literally about three steps behind the refs back, the ref couldn't see it (you can argue about his position but on a point of fact he couldn't see it), the linesman on the Kingsland side had full view of it from about 30 metres away, again he didn't bring the ref's attention to it. Are these linesmen slacking on the job or do they not have power to intervene?
  7. Mick Channon testomonial, 32-33k in the Dell that night, including me, 1000's locked out including my dad.
  8. Agree, on a horses-for-courses basis. Lambert has been very effective when he's come off the bench v City and Chelsea away. Can we replicate this tactic at home? I don't know but we can hardly do worse than we did v QPR LOL. We have lots of good attacking options but are struggling for a blend, and for somebody to stick it in the net! Reckon Glenn Murray in the window could have done a job for us in front of any of our midfield three.
  9. Neil Young, Man City v Leicester, 1-0. Man City in red and black stripes, on a black and white TV.
  10. Nice one Steeleye, will let you know either way at 19-00.
  11. You still looking? I have one spare and will give you first shout ..... Block 38, £35, meet outside ground tomorrow. Can give you up to 7-00 tonight (tried to pm but you are not a pm person). If you don't come back by 7-00 does anybody else want it?
  12. Good grief. The opinions of 'Premier League top-flight managers' versus the collective wisdom of a mongboard? There can only be one winner here surely?
  13. TBF very few of Liverpool's players will have played at SMS before and this is something we must take full advantage of. I fully expect to see the Liverpool players nervously leaving their team bus to a white-hot reception and then seeing them on the pitch at 13-45 in white ice-cream seller suits, joshing each other with their programmes, nervously waving to their families and with plenty of camera-phones being held up. 2-0 Saints.
  14. It's the Southampton way, what price a new manager for pre-season next year?
  15. Oops, will have to go Mark Hughes/Kevin Phillips up front then (we've had some decent players through our doors over the years).
  16. Is that a definite 16-00 ? My phone (fixture box) has it down as 17-00 start (it is Easter Sunday if that affects anything, BH next day and all that).
  17. Shearer? In their prime Niemi Petrescue Deano Svenson Bridge Walcott Redknapp [Morgan] Bale Shearer Phillips Woods Dodd Ruddock MLT Oakley Pahars Beattie Would be top-2 side, CL here we come!
  18. Can see West Ham rolling over in this. If it's in our own hands we 'ought' to be able to beat Stoke, a win next week would be very timely.
  19. I'll stick with my prediction from November, it still looks as good as anything else.
  20. Decent battling point, 0-0 looked about right from what I saw. Ramirez looked good for 45 minutes (call me old-fashioned but I expect a marquee signing to be able to play 90 minutes). Clattenberg awful, got both penalties wrong (PMSL the lino gives nothing for the one that was given, ref goes over to discuss it and comes back with a penalty, how does that work?) Luke Shaw's running on empty? He's made mistakes in his last three games that he didn't make at all in his first 10. Shocking miss from AL, and JRod is struggling to convert very presentable chances, they mocked when I said we should buy a striker in the window. Would have cost a bit but a 10 goal man would have guaranteed our survival from where we were then. Who is going to score the goals to keep us up? COYRS! ps Well done Boruc! The most professional player in the team, always one step ahead of the game (loved Fonte's reaction to the penalty save).
  21. Was he right to go on the pitch tho? I don't think so, forget 'passion' and all that, made us look small time and desperate IMHO. If you disagree, what do you think of Holloway today? Totally lost it, I like Holloway but he looked a plum today (even tho he was completely in the right re Varney),
  22. This, he's been excellent and looks good for another 2-3 seasons i would think, how old is he, guessing 34-ish?
  23. Maybe when you next post, pause, read what you've just written, and ask yourself 'Why have I just written this crock?'
  24. Really good CB, mobile, excellent reader, very good 1v1 on the ground. Distribution a bit hit and miss. Needs to play next to a real brick outhouse, wins everything in the air, type of CB. Good signing, now let's get a big unit to play next to him.
