  1. How long since anybody outside ManU ManC Ars Che Spurs finished top 4? Add in L'pool and Everton and in the last 10 seasons has anybody beyond these seven clubs finished top 4? It's a massive ask, we have to improve substantially while at the same time 4 of the biggest 7 teams in the country simultaneously regress. It's not 'impossible' in the infinite future, but in any short to medium term it is virtually impossible. As per the above - even if we did have £100m to spend we wouldn't be able to buy four 25m players, one they wouldn't come here, and two the wages would be impossible.
  2. After the season he's had I'd agree, in an ideal world (for LS not for SFC) he would play have played 10-12 games this season and gone on the international tour. That's why we'll never have a decent England first team; it's club, club, club, money, money, money, we don't do tournament play and we don't do international football (very well).
  3. Baines would be better but no there's comparison between Shaw and Buttner. Shaw is easily good enough to play in United's B team and CDAJ in their full first X1, the benefit of being at a big club is that you only have to play 20 plus games as season so they can manage a player's development much better. Shaw (understandably in my opinion) was over-played this year, if we had followed up the Reading result with one or two more wins he could have knocked off six weeks early which would have been to his long-term benefit. Hopefully no long-term damage done but (IMO) he's missing out on his all-round development and the 'next level' by missing the England u21 tour. I fully expect him to be here next year and 'if' we get the sort of investment we are all hoping for it would be nice to think he would stay long-term, but in reality if we get another 1 to 2 seasons we will have done well.
  4. So: 1 Is this one of the sporting highlights of your year? 2 Who's in the frame to win it? 3 Who's getting over there to see it? 4 What do we think of Wiggo missing out? 1, definitely, 2, hard to see past Froome v Contador 3, me! Ventoux on the Sunday and then the following three days; idiot second son has his graduation on the same day as the double Alpe D'Huez stage. Major boooozz. 4, he's been a great Olympian and he beat all the odds to become a TDF winner, maybe a comeback in the Veulta, or maybe not. Looked well off the pace in the Giro.
  5. Ipswich away. Just a perfect performance. Nipper took his gf to her first ever game, it was like watching MOD. We had a hard job explaining to her that not every game's like that.
  6. What the feck are you on about? An 'entitlement program'? I've stayed out of this till now but what do you know about disability and everything that goes with it? My adult son's 'disabled' (in terms that you'd understand he's a mentalist), his life is extremely difficult and problematic as is that of his carers (his parents!). Supporting Saints is one of the few constants in his very troubled existence, and something that brings a certain and welcome 'normality' to our relationship. The fact that Saints offer concessions to 'disabled' customers (many of whom don't work, can't work, and despite tabloid headlines live on very limited benefits) should be a cause of pride, of the club doing 'the right thing', to all fans. Anybody that thinks concessions for disabled fans are 'an entitlement program (sic)' is living in the dark ages.
  7. NA's a top bloke who did a top job for us, why can't people just move on? Silly to slag him now, makes us look cheap and small time. NA was the right appointment at the right time and was massively successful for us, let's (all) hope we can say the same about Poch a couple of years down the line?
  8. Man who has way too many football shirts probably only wears and washes each one a relatively few number of times. Man who buys one shirt a season probably wears and washes his pride and joy many times. My money is on man with many shirt's shirt being in better nick after a few months than shirt of one shirt man.
  9. You're Sally Bercow and I claim my substantial damages. PS These people are just taking the **** out of us everyday, if you tolerate this then your children will be next.
  10. Now you're talking Richards Greenidge Turner Sainsbury Jesty Parks Marshall Cowell Tremlett Roberts Not sure that's a real team but we really did under-achieve with that sort of team. (I seem to be missing a middle-order batsmen?)
  11. Are you sure your name isn't Biteman?
  12. Maybe Martinez said he wouldn't go there unless they changed the badge?
  13. RIP, good player, saw him at the Dell a couple of times.
  14. I've never seen it. What are the odds on me enjoying it?
  15. Any firm plans? We are hoping to do Ventoux on the Sunday and move over in the week to do Annecy and Alpe d'Huez.
  16. Thanks for clearing that up! I was half right, sort of. Like most people then I'm v. pleased with these prices, will defo be renewing.
  17. How much were disabled ST's last season, I have 2 STs and one disabled ST. I 'thought' the disabled one was free last year but I might be mistaken? 520 seems a lot for disabled supporters, many of whom will be living on benefits etc for obvious reasons.
  18. I'm pretty sure we signed him for a continuity/coaching/club-captain type role. I love him to bits but I would be seriously concerned if we had to rely on him in any sort of way next year. He just seems to have grown old very very quickly, luckily he didn't have very much to do yesterday but he managed to screw up a lot of fairly straightforward kicking jobs and was very indecisive in possession. I'd be surprised if he makes the PL again, surely the yank will be number two, and Gazza will go out to L1 to get a season's worth of playing time under his belt. I haven't entirely given up on Gazza, he will be remembered for his rabbit-in-the-headlights job at QPR and his complete omnishambles v Norwich, which is a little harsh; he had some decent games before that.
  19. Samuels is a complete and utter bellend who has always had an agenda with us. 'The fans don't sing her name', no but they do sing her dad's name long and proud every game, her name only came into the public domain 'officially' on Saturday. 'inevitable glass ceiling', 'Shaw to Chelsea', NC only here on a stepping stone 'to the next level'. blah, blah, blah.
  20. Decent read. Really struggling to get my head around us signing Victor Wanyama, surely the big boys will be all over him?
  21. How would you break down 'more than 50m'? 20-20-10? 25-15-5-5? 20-15-10-5? Seems an awful lot of money? Can we get 20+ players to Saints with no European football to offer? I said 30+, maybe something like 18-8-5-4 and maybe one or two 'frees' (who aren't really 'free' at all)... ?
  22. I would expect us to spend a fair bit, NC will be expecting to move up at least one level next season (8th-12th), he might even be considering a double jump up to 5th-8th. He will have seen we have a decent enough starting XI, very little depth or cover, and we very are short on the top top quality players, the players that will make a difference in the tight games. He has resolved his differences and appears to have got his 'ambitious' plans signed off, we have now secured the 'new' PL finances (which overall are likely to push transfer fees even higher), I could see us spending £30m-plus quite easily.
  23. http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2013/may/17/stoke-kenwyne-jones-pigs-head You've got a pig's head We've got a horse's head.
