Yeh, the name came to me in a dream last night. Scarey stuff, don't even go there. Not the worst loan player we've ever had.
-
That's the one, Mario Licka and the fatty from Liverpool came on second half (can't remember his name, plays for Barnsley last time I saw him?) We got a pen and we drew 1-1. Those were the days, we were glad of a battling point at Sc-nthorpe.

Anybody remember Sc=unthorpe away when we were under a lot of pressure first 10 minutes and we (JW) conceded a corner. Some random in the front row went nuts at Wright and he gave it right back to him, matey tried to get at him and Wright looked well up for it as well .... matey was seen off by the stewards and his mate and led from the ground .... long way to go for 10 minutes football even if you did nearly come to blows with the legend that was JW. LOL at those laughing at Chris Perry, really good player for us, his legs had gone but he came in and did a decent job, and absolutely gave his all for the club.

Is Lambert the only Saints legend since Le Tiss
sandwichsaint replied to ozzmeister's topic in The Saints
Just a left field selection from me. Obviously Morgan is a 'better' player but the OP asks about 'legends' which to me involves some degree of longevity/loyalty, and a consistent level of service and performance. 50 players more deserving than Oakley? Name them! Bet you can't get to 10 .....! I'll give you Lallana, Lambert, SuperKelvinDavis, who are the other 47? -

Matt Oakley? Played a lot of games, in an 'unseen' role. Maybe the fact he was unseen leads a lot of fans to under-rate him? Consistently scored a 7 and often an 8, one of our unsung heroes; a holding midfielder who was 10 years ahead of his time? -
What he should have said: We have no immediate plans to buy any specific players but like most clubs we are always interested in improving our squad, and if the right players become available and if they fit within our budget and they can add-to and improve our current squad, we would obviously be interested. Sub-text, we don't have to buy anybody in this window, we won't pay silly-money January prices, we do have funds available for good players that fit within our existing budgets.

Well the perception seems to be that big teams can get to influence who refs them, even before we consider how their games are referreed. Wouldn't it be fairer to introduce a jury-style challenge system? Before the season the PL circulates the names of this season's 20-ish PL refs. Clubs are allowed to object to two names .. all clubs big and small get to object. Match allocations are then decided accordingly. Any good? (bored with it now, if Clattenberg doesn't ref us for the next 2 or 3 years, job done; if he does then once again the small clubs are being treated differently to the big boys, i'd say it's 50-50 whether we get him again next seaon, I don't think we will have him again this season).

Have I missed the memo or something? When have either of these instances ever been considerations in relation to handball? Or to giving any other sort of Penalty kick/free kick (anywhere on the pitch). You are confusing issuing 'cards' with issuing Penalty kicks and Free kicks.

Looks OK, on a Sunday morning you could come in on M4/A4 and then across town. On a Saturday I would take the M25 round to the M23 J and then head up to Croydon on the A23, it's further in distance but would be quicker in time.

Haven't got a clue and not sure where you would find out? I'll go Blackburn. Shearer, Sutton, Le Saux and A.N.Other (Wilcox/Batty?)

Looks like Tamworth to me? Why do my links not work? I'm copy and pasting the URL in 'insert image' but the picture doesn't show up.

Cheers Winner, I'm in. Loving Strava, not used it before. Just what I needed, an app that ranks me 540+ out of 600 - ! Best get on Premium and start filtering by age and weight to find my proper rivals! Kudos to VFT with his 100k rides!

We can't compete with that, wasn't it said of Graham Taylor (Watford and Villa) that 'he bought his centre forwards by the yard'?
-
Osvaldo + Wanyama + Lovren (+ Forren?) = I'm a bit red wine at the moment but I think you'll find it's more than 20m? (good point though;)).

Winner, what's my max HR? Age 52 (I'm a bit overweight on BMI, I'm currently 13-7 but would like to be sub 13-0) so in simple terms my age 220-52, max HR 168. Not sure I ever do a 6 minute max? I'm 'Comfortable' (that's a relative term!) at 175 outdoors in hot weather, when I see 175 I ease off to high 160's. I spin twice a week, I work hard (but I'm usually tired / it's after work etc), the 'big' blocks aren't that long (2-3 mins) and if I'm working hard I can hit 168-170, my max indoors is about 171/172. Went to Mallorca at HT with a competitive mate (I'm ten years older than him), we'd been riding 2 hours on very mixed terrain, we're on a big climb (400m vertical), he's in front but I grind back to him, I'm 175+ but comfortable, if I don't beat him now I never will, I push on for a couple of minutes , I'm pumping 183/185 (!), no apparent problems and I ease back to 175. Job done, rinsed him, no after affects etc, So, my age is 168, when I'm spinning for an hour I can hit 169/170 max, I have a history of being comfortable at 175/177, I recently pulled up 183/185 with no ill effects. all very confusing, Have joined Strava, where are the 'groups'?

Excellent the last two games. He's obviously not a long term solution but I'm chuffed for him that he has come in and DAJFU, shudder to think what would have happened with PG in goal today!

Man U penalty today? Howard Webb again. Keeper leaves his goal and hurtles into no-mans land, Young has the ball under control, Llorris slides aggressively and with front leg off the ground (no control and doesn't get near playing the ball). Young clips the ball past him, the sliding Llorris is right on top of him and with no control, Young hurdles him (he has to, to avoid him), Lolloris appears to catch him / impede him, Young falls to ground and can't take part in subsequent play. Why is this not a penalty?

Thank goodness you cleared that up. I had visions of a flat, aimless, inverted Y formation all wandering in the same general direction.

Post Match Reaction: SAINTS 0-3 Chelsea
sandwichsaint replied to Saint-Armstrong's topic in The Saints
Cracking away day, loved the League 1 aways. -
In the last eleven days the first team have played Spurs H, Cardiff A, Everton A, Chelsea H - are the first team going to be playing again on Saturday? Very much doubt it. We will play a 'cup' X1. Hindsight being a wonderful thing we might as well have given the first team a week off and had them back rested-and-raring to duff up Burnley on Saturday and go again for the second half of the season.

Cropper will be in the schitter, that was cement to be a secret.

Spoil sport on Stafford Rangers, scrolling down and was just going to post (guess)that.

Not sure technology would have helped yesterday - he has reportedly seen it - and then 'decided' it's not handball. The referee will always have to make a subjective judgement beyond the mere 'fact' of the ball hitting the hand. I'm not sure about the criticisms of refs not keeping up with the game, the ref was well-placed for our incident and also the Chelsea one too and both were in the last few minutes of the game - possibly could be some mental fatigue involved? Do controversial incidents tend to happen late in games? Webb missed one in the first minute yesterday..... I don't think there will ever be a definitive answer as to how to improve refereeing standards; the game is so fast, the stakes so high, for many players and managers 'cheating' is the norm, and the coverage at the top level is unremitting - 20 cameras a game, super slo-mo, HD, graphics boards etc etc. Unsurprisingly some referees make some mistakes sometimes. I'm not sure that 'technology' would help much, most mistakes appear to be the result of an 'incorrect' interpretation rather than the ref completely missing something. I was gutted with yesterday's decision and would happily never have Clattenberg again ever, but don't kid yourself that we can just get rid of these refs and that there will be another 10-20 below who are ready to move up to that level. The top refs are there for a reason, they are the top refs available and they sit at the top of a pretty big pyramid, if there were better ones available they would be doing the job now.
