I was disappointed to read a post somewhere on here last week referring to the players throwing their shirts into the crowd at Liverpool last week and indulging in lots of man-love at the final whistle; the poster put it down to 'the spirit the MP has generated', I wasn't going to rain on his parade at the time and spoil my/his weekend, but this is utter horseshi7. 'Team spirit' started with AP and was carried on massively by NA, MP was lucky to inherit a team 'together as one' and TBF, if it's not broken, it hasn't needed fixing. The 'togetherness' thing is what sets us apart, we genuinely seem to be doing things 'the Southampton way' (Jeff Stelling's comments today) and if we can retain this focus we will become the Academy of choice for pretty much every talented player in our catchment area. Happy days.

About as meh as it gets, one for the SuperFans only.

Unbelievable, and anybody that 'holidays' here is complicit in this as well.

Don't really care, will probably go to a home game if they price it right. Would prob go away anywhere south of Brum. Don't even know who is in it?

Don't think there's any chance of this after last week, the players will be (should be!) on cloud 9 after last week, they will have loved the feeling of winning at L'pool and will have loved looking at the league table all week, and they will want more of it. There's competition for places too and they will all want to play when we are doing well. Same team, 2-0 Osvaldo and Lambert (pen).

Oh dear, can-of-worms? Not care about the shirt colour? Seriously? You'd have no objection if we turned out in Blue/Amber/Green/Claret next season? Extraordinary. Come on trolls: 'Would you rather we qualified for Europe playing in a blue home strip, or be relegated wearing a red and white one, innit'.

As it stands, do we have a better midfield than Utd?

Not sure you can play Carrick and Fellaini in the same team? Big panic buy but I reckon Moyes will get two full seasons before they even look at anybody else. -
V impressed, not been to Liverpool or Anfield before. Excellent day from start to finish, drove up to Crewe and trained in. Couple in the Ship and Mitre, then Arkles, then a walk round the ground. A proper football ground that oozes tradition and the memorial is very well done. Natives v friendly and very generous with their time and comments. Train back to Crewe in high spirits and chatting with a couple of top Saints fans I'd not before, really really good day out, our away support is top draw on days like this.

Of course he should, 12 yds out, wide of the goal. ball pinged at him and a defender on each shoulder. Receives it with his back to goal, one touch he sets it through his own legs, turns quickly and gets an early low shot off, on target and asking a lot of the keeper. Keeper gets down and makes an excellent block. Agree 'he should have scored',

Mods, I think this should be moved to the lounge.

OMG Just in, and that has to be up there in one of the best away days I've ever been to, awesome performance from the team and fans, A snip at 40 notes and with a free sauna thrown in.

TBF they are starting to get in a position to do a lot better, decent manager, decent new GK, they appear to have shed some deadwood and any team fielding Suarez, Sturridge + Coutinho shouldn't struggle for goals.

What's it like? They reckon a third of those that could have updated in the first 24hrs .. I didn't, I'm not really not that bothered, am I missing anything? -
I will bite oh Great One .... MP's team for Saturday: ............... Holy Goalie ................ Clyne ..... Lovren ..... Fonte .... Shaw ............... MS ...... VW ............... ................... JWP ..................... Osvaldo ......... SRL ............. AL Not quite sure how it shapes up on the pitch but that might be MP's players for the starting XI? If you are not interested in my team, look away now: usual suspects across the back, plus .............................VW ............................... ......................MS ......... JC ......................... .............................GR................................ ..............JRod .................Dani ................... Not quite sure how it all pans out but I'm picking three centre mids and recalling our talisman JC, hopefully to kick start MS into finding some form. I'm also recalling the Great White Hope and would tell him he's playing the next 6 games in his favoured no. 10 spot -it's down to him now - shape up or ship out at Xmas. I'd play Osvaldo who looked class on Sunday (horror miss not withstanding). I'd persist with JRod, he's a confidence player and with his pace on the counter he might find himself in wide-open spaces as L'pool are forced fd in the later stages while suffering a frustrating 0-0 score line. SRL to brood on the Anfield bench before a triumphant last 15 minutes where he does a Chelsea/Man City, 0-1 Saints, Lambert R 83 mins, I'd take that.

Always a good look if you want to get in cheap!

I thought Sun'lan away was 1-1? Stand to be corrected, I'd had a few.... -

What did you expect from MoPo v FatSam at 4-00 on a wet and windy Sunday afternoon? Not happy with what I saw on the box, but very happy that I dodged a £150 wasted day out today. I'm going to Liverpool next week (where 0-0 would be a great result!) We need to find some attractive/goal scoring/winning football before I pay SMS prices. Palace holds no appeal to me at all, it could be anything from 4-0(as if!) to 0-1, will probably be 0-0 or 1-1. We have gone massively backwards and we need to turn it round majorly before we start selling out again. Today's game? Compared to last season we are much stronger at the back, weaker in midfield, and equally as woeful up front. Time for 4-3-3? Our attacking full-backs appear a busted flush at the moment (2-2-6? it hasn't happened so far in four mid-table games) and even FatSam has got wise to our game plan. We have a decent back four, let's let them concentrate on keeping the goal against down to manageable proportions (they are doing OK so far). Midfield, where do you start? We have swapped one of Europe's leading stats men and his ultra reliable sidekick for a rabbit-in-the-headlights and a Sunday parks player. Morgan and Cork need to BOTH play henceforth, the third man can be VW or SD or JWP, all have different attributes and all three CDAJFU, the team can be picked around: home/away, form, oppo etc. Which leaves three players to stick it in the net! Osvaldo looks top draw and plays every game, my second pick (Turkish will love this) would be our fastest player, for me that's JRod and he 'starts' every game (where's the hate coming from? Is he the new Gully? No worse than anyone else today). The third attacker is fluid: Lambert as a 9? Lambert as a 10? Lallana, poor game today but decent in the first three games? Gaston? Nothing to say here, the question mark says it all really. What we are doing now isn't working in terms of scoring goals so something (?) has to change. The clappers will say the their GK was man of the match, but beyond Osvaldo's miss the rest of it was pretty routine, at no time after the first five minutes did I feel we could win that game, the last 2 minutes were played out around our box and MP's reaction at the final whistle said it all, take a point and move on. People that were bigging up the Sunderland result must be feeling a bit silly tonight. We played well at West Brom for large parts but it looks like they are going to be struggling, we failed to beat Sun'lan who most people knew were shi7, we lost at Norwich (a so so result), and we've been pretty poor at home to what resembled a Championship team, hardly the next level is it? -

And baring an unnerving similarity to a 1940's SRL? Looks like Bearsy missed this bit out in his recent Life of Rickie biog? -
Don't you just love living in a world where 11 year-olds sneer at an iphone?

England's new scoring and assists sensation on the bench ... we'll muller 'em. ................ Boruc ............. Clyne Fonte Lovren Shaw ......... MS Cork .......... J Rod Gaston AL ............ SRL ............... Should be enough to get things started; VW and Dani Os are available as and when required, heart says 2-0, will probably be 1-1.

You must be nearly quids in with your dodgy ITK transfer betting?

If I could post a picture of an elephant, where's Rooney going to play?
-
You've got to get in first, SRL has arguably only got in via injuries to Carroll/Defoe/Sturridge/Rooney etc, there's no guarantee that if you do it week in week out for one of the lesser lights you will ever get near.

Chuffed with that, I didn't do any maths beyond O Level in 1976, just know BIDMAS from a bit of primary school TA-ing 15 years ago, not that I particularly understand it.
