The point about typos etc was a joke as you classed yourself as a "writer". What's your profession these days BIG DAZZA? As for your point about me being obsessive and creepy and giving you attention who started this thread about me? Oh, the irony 1. I only post when I'm in the office. I work in sales so am generally in the office a couple of days a week for various meetings and other dull stuff. The rest of the time I'm seing customers or out training the sales team. Thinking I did a part time office job seems to mark you out as a rather provincial bumpkin with little experience of the modern world, something given weight by you referring to me being in high corporate finance - there are other kinds of work rather than high finance in office these days you know. 2. This crap about me disappearing when things get bad for Pompey can easily be proved or disproved. look at the dates I posted and compare them to how Pompey did at the time. Apart from recently being on holiday for three weeks, Pompey's form bears no relation to when I come on here. Nick Nack has already been made to look a complete chump by saying the most I posted was when Pompey were flying high last September only to have me point out that the dates he cited included consecutive defeats of 6- 0 and 4 - 0. Lastly, the Gareth thing, given that I'm in sales, is obviously wrong. If you want a better comparison my job's probably more like Neil the regional manager but for comedy value I'll go with me being Finchy. I guess that would make you Lee from the warehouse. An unskilled worker whose bird leaves him for someone else making him search the lonely hearts columns. A natural question to ask. My reply is that one of your own fans sent me the link asking me to post it on here as he thinks BIG DAZZA is too full of himself and thought it would be a laugh. If you don't believe that, ask yourself how I'd have recognised him on the website, given that I've never seen BIG DAZZA in my life and his name wasn't listed. That's the old new stadium. Since then we've had another new stadium plan which looks like it will be ditched in favour of the original old new stadium concept. Might change again though, who knows. Sounds like he's almost as bright as you Stuey Already commented in your own thread on the subject and shown your claim to be complete bull****. HTH

I know this has become a bit of an obsession with you Stuey but at least get your facts right and stop twisting the truth. The Everton game at the weekend isn't included in the cut price ticket offer. The games that offer cover are Wigan, Burnley, Birmingham, Sunderland, Stoke, Hull, Blackburn and Wolves. So the Everton and Tottenham games aren't included. Not only that, the £20 offer you mention only applies to the home section of the Milton (away) end and nowhere else in the ground. That lucky FA Cup win that included an away victory at Old Trafford you mean? Give it up. We got the luck of the draw playing a lot of Championship teams in our cup run just like you did last time you reached the final but no-one can say it was plane sailing when we had to play man U away. Glad someone has a sense of perspective on here. Our crowds are down this year because fahim has sold all our best players and replaced them with poor quality alternatives and we've been asked to pay top whack to watch them. How strange that people should vote with their feet. You had a bad year last season and your crowds dipped. Not exactly rocket science, is it? As some have already pointed out, some of these figures aren't correct. Not only that but the last few seasons stats (which are roughly correct according to the Euro Stats database - link attached) prove that, despite many on here claiming that we always thousands of empty seats every home game (and Crabby posting that attendances have dropped dramatically in the last couple of seasons) show that we average 96-97% sell out every home game across the season. So where are these thousands of empty seats you constantly tell me you saw at every home game last season? Or the season before? http://www.european-football-statistics.co.uk/england.htm Once again Stuey, get your facts right. As I've already pointed out, the £20 offer only applies to the home section of the Milton End and the £5 kids ticket only applies to that section if the kid is accompanied. For the Fratton (home) end, Adult tickets are £38 (73% more expensive than your comparable tickets) and kids are £20 (100% more expensive than yours.) Those prices also apply for the eight games I mentioned above apart from the upper North stand where for those 8 games Adults are £30 and kids £15. Nice attempt to twist the facts though Stuey but I wonder how many you'd get through the gates paying £38 a time to watch Bolton, Hull, Wigan etc.

I've never claimed to be ITK but I do know someone high up at Pompey who we see socially every couple of weeks or so. I don't get told everything but I do get various pieces of info dropped. Some of these don't happen because, shock horror, things change in football like they do in any business. I've no reason to doubt what I was told at the weekend. A million options? Blimey, that must make for a long season. There are any number of reasons why someone would want to buy a football club. My guess with Pompey and the Al Faraj's (and that's all it is) is that they see some way of making cash out of the deal. Whether that's by pumping ridiculous millions into the playing side of things then selling it on or they see an opportunity in building a new stadium (I know what you're thinking before you say anything) and the associated commercial side of things. Most of the championship clubs don't have the opportunity for commercial development that a new stadium for Pompey has along with the fact that you are our only geographical rivals. Most championship clubs are from areas where there are several other clubs which would limit their growth potential. Not so with Pompey. I understand most on here won't agree with that but that's my view.

Jeez BIG DAZZA, it's an impressive list to be sure. Sebastian Faulks probably can't sleep at night. I really liked the bit where you said you wrote for The Echo AND got paid for it - LOL. Still, on your profile on lonely hearts.com or whatever it was called you did list your profession as writer. Is it your profession or just a sideline. It was you claiming it was your main source of income after all. Let's hope (given the grammatical, syntax and spelling errors I've highlighted above) that you had a decent sub - editor at each publication. Looking at that lot in such a short paragraph I'm surprised your fanzine didn't come out as the Beutifool Sooth. Couple of other things 1. Why do you keep on about me working in an office? 2. Me wanting people on a Saints website to be impressed by me? LOL. That's going to happen isn't it. 3. Only ever post on here when things are going Pompey's way. ROTFPMSL. What, like now? Or the seasons when we looked nailed on to go down and you and others kept telling me I was always posting on here? 4. See me when Pompey finally register a point? I don't think even you could wait that long to hear from me again. We might be talking well into 2010. Anyway, I wouldn't want to get promoted to stationery (note the spelling. Stationary is Pompey's league status FYI), I'm not sure I'd wish redundancy on you.
-
Fahim has secured finance already Clapham but it's not as much as is being reported and he's paying a ridiculous rate of interest. However, for once I'm hoping you're right because I was told at the weekend that if we go into administration the Faraj Bros would still buy us and they have very heavy backing. IMHO we're already down - if you take out the seven games left against the "big 4" we have 25 games left to get 40 points to stay up. That means we're looking at averaging 1.6 points per game which just isn't going to happen. In that case the -9 points penalty for administration would make no difference and if it meant getting rid of Fahim (who still hasn't filed the paperwork to confirm ownership with the PL by the way). Crabby, you used to be quite a decent poster to banter with but these days you seem to have turned into a complete ****. 1. Another attendance thread - yay. FYI, I've posted a link to a website showing Pompey's average attendances and you can see that for the past three years we've averaged 96 - 97% sell out of capacity. Is that your "proof" that we don't fill the stadium? http://www.european-football-statistics.co.uk/england.htm Can we not bother debating this point any more and leave this link as a sticky for anyone who wants to start another such "argument" 2. Whether Prosinecki was better than Le Tissier is open to debate. I'm pretty sure that if you asked anyone on mainland Europe the majority would say Prosinecki was better. He played for Real Madrid and Barcelona after all. If you asked anyone in Southampton you'd obviously say Le Tissier. Pointless talking about him when he was at Pompey at the end of his career but at their respective peaks I can't see why you'd dispute that Prosinecki was a great player whether you think he's better than Le Nose or not. That's because it's the old stadium that was proposed two or three years ago. Keep up.
-
I certainly wouldn't bet against it. Just to cheer you up further, a rumour's going around that David O'Leary could be coming in either as Hart's assistant or his replacement. Do you think it's possible we could achieve 0 points by Xmas?
-
Oh BIG DAZZA, I'm touched. I didn't know you cared so much about my whereabouts. Your question has prompted me to ask Where's BIG DAZZA? http://uk.match.com/ Which one's your profile BIG DAZZA? I seem to remember that in your profile you listed your profession as "writer". Which also prompts me to ask Where's BIG DAZZA? http://www.themanbookerprize.com/ I can't believe a writer of your talent and standing didn't even make the longlist for this year's prize. Is there an example of your work you could send me. A friend of mine works in publishing, maybe she could help? One more thing. They always say you should write about what you know. Do you think a novel about baggage handling would make the Man Booker shortlist next year?
-
So touching to see so many of you concerned for pFC, not to mention at least three threads started with my name in the title while I've been away. I never knew I meant so much to you. Thanks from the bottom of my heart. I plan to respond to BIG DAZZA's post personally but have cherry picked a couple of points from this thread below. I know you're dying to hear some responses from me so, without further ado, let's go. The thing about Storrie is that as an employee of the club he was just doing what he was told. If Redknapp came to him and Gaydamak and said "I want X player" then Gaydamak was the one saying whether he could provide the funds or not. Storrie's on a big wage but his responsibilities go far beyond what most chief execs at Prem clubs have to handle so no doubt he'd argue he deserves what he gets. Most Prem CEO's have a team of people to do what Storie does largely on his own so the wage isn't as ludicrous as most seem to believe. So a PR mate of Piers Morgan wrote the article about the aims of an alliance between various Pompey fan run websites did he? You total **** But he was rumoured to be trying to get the finance to buy the club himself, hence he would have had a bigger role than CEO. ****tard Stop it Nick Nack. It's dull. No club is going to stay in the Prem for long living within their means. Look what happened to you when Lowe had your salary cap. It's a rich man's game now. Whether Fahim is the answer to that for Pompey I doubt it. He did have backers but for whatever reason they wouldn't reveal their identities to the PL (I suspect we all have theories as to why that is) and the irony now is (and I'm sure you bastards are ****ing yourselves at this one) we have a couple of genuinely wealthy potential backers in the Al Faraj brothers who want to invest in the club while Dr Doolittle runs around desperately trying to get finance from somewhere. Now he's announced that he's found finance "in principle" just as he agreed a deal for the club "in principle". Just two things. Can you all stop laughing at the (as Torres might say) ****tard from the UAE. We're doing enough of it ourselves. Who'd have thought Pompey would see themselves on 0 points after 5 games and still have more points than you lot.
-
No, but the one at Fratton will pay for 70% of the expansion of the current ground and if (a very big if I grant you) the Horsea project ever gets under way (which depends on many things, including the FA winning the 2018 world cup bid) then a supermarket is apparently likely to be involved with some funding there too, along with the FA. Do you still dispute that we've reduced debts and that the wages we've saved are around the £20m mark Clapham? You've gone very quiet on the topic lately Well, they're certainly good times at the moment Nick Nack. Lots of players sold, played two and lost two, sitting in the bottom three and facing Arsenal away tomorrow. But I'll be sure to disappear when things start to go bad. Who believes that then? The transfer money has gone to reducing debts.
-
Only one of the saddest posters on here, not the saddest? Blimey BIG DAZZA, there will be a few posters now wondering shich ones you think are sadder than me. Bet there will be some soul searching going on. No BIG DAZZA, I didn't know "all along" that Storrie was putting a bid together, I found out last Friday when I made that post. And no, I'm not ITK at all, I just get told some pieces of info by a friend in a fairly senior position at PFC who's in a position to know what goes on. And seeing as how much your fans like to talk about Pompey on here I thought you'd all be interested. As for me disappearing for weeks, could you scumlettes make your minds up. Apparently I'm always on here or I'm always disappearing. Can we decide which one it is. For the last time BIG LOVELORN DAZZA I only post on here when I'm in the office. I'm only in the office 2 -3 days a week. I don't post on here at weekends or when I'm on holiday and I sometimes spend a week or so working in one of our foreign offices and don't post when I'm doing that either. For the record (especially for BIG DAZZA's lapdog Nick Nack) I'm on holiday for the next three weeks after today. That means I'm back on Mon 14th Sep if you'd like to put it in your diaries. I guess one of the reasons, despite Clapham's protestations, is that we have reduced our debts considerably since the accounts he keeps quoting. The players we've sold mean our wage bill has had at least £20m a year wiped off it, possibly quite a bit more. Most reports now seem to estimate debts at around £20m which must be one of the lowest in the Prem. Add in the fact that Gaydamak wants to get rid and we're a cheap way for someone to buy a Prem club. Yes we need a new stadium but (again despite what many on here say) a couple of supermarket chains and the FA are willing to contribute towards that cost. SKY money obviously is an attraction too.
-
You seem to be assuming that any new investment would come from the middle east. That's not the rumour at all.
-
Because I wasn't told the full details BIG DAZZA. Only that Storrie had put a consortium together and that there was some serious money behind it. I still don't know for sure who's backing him although, like most people, I've heard some whispers. It was certainly a big and lucky bluff if that's what it was, wouldn't you say? As for your last request, I know you live down at the end of lonely street at Heartbreak Hotel but that was a bit too much to ask, wouldn't you say?
-
Taking longer than I was told to expect but on it's way I believe. Hopefully you'll all be pleased for us
-
Talk about irony. You post this in the middle of a 30 odd page thread with 46,000 (!) views about Pompey. And look at the amount of your fans from just the last couple of pages trawling Pompey websites and papers for news of anything blue. When you looked like going down the dumper the posts on Pompey boards went to two or three pages. You're on page 32 and still going strong. Just who's besotted with who here? PMSL Funny you should ask that ESB. In addition to your own Steve Grant and Dull Days (who's a regular poster) look on any Pompey site and you'll find far more Saints fans than you find Pompey fans on here. Given that the blues on here amount to me, mack Rill, FMPR and PES, Saints on Pompey sites in the last couple of days include: 1teeminhants Vince Newman Home Grown Tijuana Tim (posts every single day) Grumpy Dell Days Saint Jack 21 Saint Mirac Jasper Saint Funny

Clapham, you're a fine one to be talking about slective acceptance. You posted that we were losing £2m a month but I proved that we've knocked over £20m off our wage bill over the past year in wages of players we've sold. I don't see how you can disagree with what I posted. Similarly, you said that it would be cheaper to buy Newcastle than Pompey. Again, you were selective as you used a potential buying price of £60m as "some reports have said they've received bids of this amount". No mention of the fact that Ashley has repeatedly said he wants £100m for the club and despite me posting a report from Deloitte proving that they have debts of £238m which you denied was the case. You ignored this and failed to mention it in any follow up. Finally, when did I say we were debt free and operating at a profit? I said I believed we'd reduced debts considerably, a fact backed up by the amount of players we've sold and reports in "quality" (for want of a better word) papers. Most media outlets now seem to agree that our debt is down to somewhere in the mid £20m's and possibly even lower. The accounts you were talking about are around 18 months out of date. You seem like an intelligent guy but also seem to be falling into the trap a lot of the dicks on here fall into - dismissing what I say without actually reading or understanding it. Re-read what I said again. I accept that there are ongoing costs and that Storrie has said he can't rule out more players sales but our debts and operating costs have been reduced significantly since the figures you keep quoting
-
1. Nick Nack, I agree I worded my question "when did I say we'd sell 16,000 ST's" badly but you've proved my point for me by posting the original quote. What I meant was "by when did I say we'd have sold the full 16,000". And the answer, as you've shown, was when the takeover was completed. Not trying to wriggle out of anything as I guess you assumed but my original statement is pretty clear, is it not? The takeover would generate a good feeling amongst fans who are pretty down and generate a demand for ST's - just as your takeover did for you. 2. Ref us "buying" the cup. If you'd like to look at the team sheet for that day I think you'll find that neither Defore nor Crouch played - Defoe was cup tied and Crouch didn't sign until the summer after we won the final. Which means you look a complete **** Nick Nack. As for how many of the others we could afford, Sol was a big drain on us eventually but initially Arsenal were paying 50% of his wages and as we signed him on a free that evened itself out. Likewise Distin & Kanu came on frees so even if we were paying them £50K a week it's no worse than paying £2.5m for a player and £30K a week. The amounts the same in the long run. James only cost £500K and Kranjcar may have cost us £3m but is only on £30K a week. Not to mention the fact that according to what you've said in the past we only beat lower league opposition to win it so didn't need to spend big on players anyway. So, how did we "buy it Nick Nack". Admit it, you've made yourself look a right **** on this one. I can't wait to see you try and wriggle your way out of this
-
Cost of redeveloping Fratton has been reported as £22m which sounds about right to me. New stadium builds tend to cost around £2m per seat (ie a 30K stadium would cost around £60m) so an increase in capacity of 10,000 for £22m sounds right. Tesco have been reported as willing to pay around 70% of this cost. That would leave Pompey to find around £6.5. Given that an extra 10K seats a year would generate approx £6m in revenue (at an average cost of £30 a seat) we'd pay that back fairly quickly. Even allowing for the predicatable "you wouldn't fill it" nonsense it would allow us to offer better facilities, family section, corporate hosting etc etc so it seems a fair assumption. IF (big if) Horsea ever did get the go ahead then you're right, we'd probably get around £10m for the land Fratton stands on. Seems like a decent deal all round. Read the post again. Announcement to be made "possibly as early as Friday"
-
LOL. So it was a conspiracy was it Nick Nack? I thought it was because it was because it was absolutely transparent to everyone that the club and SLH were effectively one and the same thing. As for us "buying" the cup, which players did we spend big money on to buy it exactly. And will you now be moaning if Liebherr or however you spell it buys your way back into the Prem? Presumably you're listing this lot as football "legends". I'm sorry to break this to you but with the exception of Keegan, Ball and Shilton maybe Shearer who left you as soon as someone waved a chequebook at him) no other football fan would consider anyone on that list as a "legend". I know you love Le Tissier for his loyalty and fair play to him for it but he's not exactly a George Best or a Pele is he. I loved BIG DAZZA'a quote earlier about how when the going gets tough Saints fans are magnificent. Are those the same fans where 50% of them deserted the club in a couple of years after relegation? It may have escaped your notice Dazza but that meant that on many occasions your own ground was half empty. After just two or three years. How empty would it be if you'd spent as many years as Pompey fans did watching the club bled dry. Hypothetical question, impossible to answer but easy to guess at seeing as your crowds went down from 32,000 to 17,000 in a couple of years. As for The Dell averaging 95% capacity, we may get the odd **** crowd at Fratton like on Saturday (there's always the odd game where there's a low attendance for some reason - remind me which club holds the record for the lowest ever Prem attendance - whatever the reason may have been) but since we came back up Pompey have averaged crowds of 97% capacity. And I've worked that out at our current capacity of 20,600 which is about 400 or so higher than when we came up so the overall average is slightly higher. If you think I'm wrong and want to prove it, use this website. http://www.european-football-statistics.co.uk/england.htm When did I say we'd reach 16,000 sales Nick Nack? I'm not changing any goalposts here, post the original link to show what i said 1. What player related debt? All the big earners are off the wage bill. I posted another piece to show that we've shaved at least £20m a year and possibly as much as £30m off the wage bill. Clapham said he'd read we were losing £2m a month. That wage saving knocks that loss on the head. 2. Expansion of Fratton to 30,000 is covered by funding from Tesco to build a supermarket on land adjacent to the ground owned by PFC. Well documented. A new stadium would cost far more (if it ever happens) but it's also been widely reported that if we were to build a new stadium at Horsea then the FA would contribute towards the costs. Who knows if that will ever happen. 3. Costs for the training ground at Lee on Solent were reported as being £11 - £12m. Presumably this would be spread across a number of years and not paid in one lump sum anyway. 4/5. Anyone buying a Prem club isn't going to do it for profit, it's a toy. I'd imagine these costs would be factored in. Not to mention that a big chunk of transfer fees and wages are covered by the money from TV. Going on to your point about Newcastle, buy them for £60m? Thought Ashley wanted £100m. Even if I went with your figure, would the same "facts" you mentioned above re Pompey not still apply (ie player related debt, funding losses and player purchases) not to mentionthe fact that they are reportedly £280m in debt. Seems to make your £60m price tag a little optimistic, wouldn't you say?
-
Whilst I'd love to answer all your points raised over the last day or so (just how many of you were there on here last night discussing the Pompey Forum on Solent - LOL) I don't have time, although I hope to sometime later today. Just to say keep your ears open as there may be an official announcement from PFC regarding Fahim's takeover as early as this afternoon. Initially you'll laugh at the contents and say you knew that would happen. But what happens after that may surprise you
-
The broadsheets are reporting that our debts in May 2008 were £44m and have been reduced considerably since then. Been widely quoted as having to pay £27m loan back to Standard Bank SA by the end of September - hence the sale of Crouch, Johnson etc not just to reduce the wage bill but pay back the monies owed. Happy to review if you can post the accounts you speak of. But these are the "facts" as are being reported.
-
Sorry Clapham but I think you're wrong in quite a few areas here. The media are reporting lots of stuff but they're sensationalising so much of it that it's worth quoting a few facts to reply to your post: I think we'll struggle this year but if things stay as they are, with the couple of additions I mention above, I think we'd stay up. Things could change until the transfer window closes but as it stands, I reckjon we'll survive.
-
You "suspect I was trying to make out it was with influential people or backers."? That would be why I corrected your misunderstanding in the next post I suppose. You really are dim sometimes. As for not speaking out to my employers - LOL. I've made a career out of it. I've only ever worked for one UK company and the reason I've done well at the others I'ce worked for (American, Swiss, Korean and Scandinavian) is because I always speak back to them and always say what I think. They all hate the British mentality of saying what you think people want to hear. As for ST's, not sure who your "mate" (a **** like you has mates? :smt103) but maybe you could tell me where he got his info from. Mine came from an employee in the commercial department at PFC. By the way, what's happening at Super Family Club Everyone Loves Us FC? I know your new billionaire chairman must have brought in loads of new players to fund your promotion push and not sold any of your higher wage earners like John and Euell but I must have missed all the reports in the papers. What's the exciting news on your transfer front?
-
Do you really think some of your fans wouldn't have ruined a minutes silence in the same circumstances? Does anyone on here really believe that? As for you saying we "should never have won that game" against Man U, the trouble for you is, we did. You just sound bitter. We beat them and we won the cup. get over it. I'm sorry, you seem to have read a different post. When did things are tough for Pompey come to mean that everything's fine? You misunderstood Nick Nack. The people he brought over were family and friends. As for sacking Storrie, perhaps he will. I know you live in a halcyon, 1950's like world so I guess you still tug your forelock to toffs and never speak out of turn to superiors. You know your place, don't you Nick Nack. No update on ST's. 12,000 so far I was told which seems broadly in line with what other posters on Pompey boards are saying. Of course, if the informations readily available post the stat from where you got it. The final number will depend on if the takeover goes through and the players brought in I guess.
-
PMSL. So we're now up to 20 pages and 30,000+ views about a club everyone keeps telling me you don't care about. Love Chuckle's post. Pompey aren't hated nationally, no more than you are. People don't care that we "bought" the cup. In fact, according to you lot on here we didn't need to buy it because we only faced lower league opposition all the way through (Man Utd who went on to win the PL and Champions League that year apparently now count as "lower league opposition".) It's tough at Pompey at the moment, no doubt about it but I wouldn't count your chickens just yet. Al Fahim is in the UK all week trying to force the deal through. He was at Fratton yesterday with some people he brought over which doesn't sound like the actions of a man who's pulling out. The sticking point seems to be the SA bank we have a loan with dragging their feet over providing a letter of agreement for Al fahim to take over the loan from Gaydamak to the FA/ PL. Once that's done he can formally take over. The bank are making interest on the loan every day they don't sign the agreement so how surprising they're in no rush to sign it off. PS: As for the Ted Bates thing, it was bad that a few morons did it but if the show was on the other foot and it had been a minutes silence for someone from Pompey do you really think a few of your morons from the "Yoof" wouldn't have spoiled it? Just get over it. It was a tiny minority
-
I wish Pompey would. Mine cost me £660.00 and that was at the "early bird" price. Prices now are £710.00. Don't you just love the Premiership?
