The best way to spoil one's ballot paper..
revolution saint replied to 1976_Child's topic in The Lounge
Thing is the parties don't actually get to see your ballot paper so you won't get the benefit of sending that particular message. Last election I just wrote "No Choice" but that was more to do with the fact that any party I wanted to vote for didn't stand in my constituency - this year is different thankfully. -
The Official Summer Transfers and HCDAJFU Thread
revolution saint replied to supersonic's topic in The Saints
I don't know...will 10 million be enough? I thought we had an owner that thought big but turns out he's a miser that wants to do things on the cheap. BOO! -
Good. If we're going to play like a national team that plays in yellow and blue then we should look like them too.
-
I can't believe this hasn't been raised before. Within seconds of him coming on I said to my mate "Who is this central midfielder - he is so dominant". He totally bossed the midfield and did the simple things well. He did the complicated things complicated and I'm sure i caught him speaking Esperanto at the same time. Trust me, he's not just one for the future - he's one for Christmas too. Based on that performance he shouldn't just make the world cup squad - he should be picking it as well. Does that help?

So champions next season, play offs season after
revolution saint replied to NickG's topic in The Saints
Stop aiming low FFS! There's 138 points up for grabs and we shouldn't be dropping any of them! 100 goals is only a ratio of just over two a game but I'd agree a goal difference of 100 would be acceptable. -
I agree - the more decent teams in the division the better. I want teams who can challenge us, teams with stature and resources. For personal reasons I really want to thrash Charlton as well.

So champions next season, play offs season after
revolution saint replied to NickG's topic in The Saints
Here's what I want for next season: I want us to win every game by a minimum of three clear goals I want us to play like the Brazil 1970 side. I want the leading goalscorer table to be made up entirely of Saints players. I want cheap season tickets I want to get served quickly at half time. I want Walkers Crisps to introduce a Southampton range. I want to thrash Pompey at Fratton in the FA Cup. I want us to unearth a youth player who is the best player in the world and who never ever wants to leave. I want kids in Manchester wearing Saints kits and being called glory hunters. I want all of these things and more but what I really, really want is for the bloke who sits two rows behind me who moans, groans and inexplicably yells out inane comments like "Two's and Three's" to realise that he has no footballing knowledge whatsoever and that it would be better for society if he had his jaw wired shut. -
Who is the big celebrity the Socialists will unveil today?
revolution saint replied to dune's topic in The Lounge
To be perfectly honest the labour party so far has roped in Eddie Izzard and Sean Pertwee for their election broadcasts with David Tennant voiceovers so they're hardly in a position to complain about celebrity. -

Lambert easily. Thank god he's our player. When he signed it was the most exciting signing for years and for once we've got a player who has lived up to that expectation. I'd guess that every club in this division and most in the Championship would want him - they can't have him.
-
Conservatives celebrate the fact that they didn't **** up again? Thing is the Tories didn't do very well but they did OK. I doubt they won many swing voters but probably didn't lose many either. If that's success for the Tories then their supporters need a bit of expectation management. I can see a hung parliament and the price for that will be PR. I've got to hand it to Clegg - he's capitalised on the debates and could hold the key to making sure that every vote ( in subsequent elections) does actually count. Quite exciting really.

Probably the last World Cup I got totally into. Not that later ones might not have been good but life gets in the way. I was 18 in 1990 and could watch every game and although I attempted the same in 94 without England in it it wasn't the same. Watched the final in 90 in Majorca in a hotel dominated by Germans so naturally teamed up with some Irish lads and supported Argentina. Happy days.

I've only read the last few posts on this thread but I saw the debate. No one really stood out that much which is what Cameron more than any other needed to do. Compared to the first debate I thought it a bit boring and I'd imagine the non politic geeks will feel the same. Haven't really looked through all of this thread but I get the feeling it's a lot of right wingers banging on about immigration, am I right?

The lads who got nicked at P*mpey...
revolution saint replied to StuRomseySaint's topic in The Saints
I wouldn't defend them too much - the lad who pleaded guilty, AT, is a spurs fan. He's also a prat. I've no idea about the others though. -
There is of course another scenario - the fact that Liberal Democrat policy now that it's examined and given the same crediblity as the other two parties is actually what the public want. You shouldn't kid yourself that the British public want what you want.
-
Or spelling? But that's a cheap shot. I'd be interested to see what you consider amongst the liberal democrats policies that aren't sensible?

How "local" are your candidates?
revolution saint replied to View From The Top's topic in The Lounge
Ah, didn't realise that. It does explain quoting Churchill and in the very same post slagging off people who switch from the Tories to Liberal and vice versa ha ha! -

Then vote UKIP if you really must, you've already admitted you'd prefer to do so. After all at least you vote for what you believe in right? It's a matter of principle for you isn't it? Or is immigration ALL you're interested in. That must be quite sad. -

How many contradictions do you need? You've already admitted that the BNP is a socialist party (and you're a self confessed right wing tory boy) yet you're having a pop at people you consider as switching from left to right and call them fools? You say it's about compromise in one post and then say it's about principle in another? You say you vote for what you believe in yet choose a racist party over your preferred choice? Without wanting to be demeaning you really don't have much credibility. -

Actually a strong BNP vote would have the opposite effect to the one you want. Every political party and the media would decry the BNP as they did when Griffin appeared on question time. It would unite parties and it would also attract people (to other parties) who suddenly realise that if nothing else then their vote would cancel out a bone headed racist vote. The same thing happened in france when apathy saw Le Pen have an unexpectedly large proportion of the vote in the presidential election in 2002. -
I disagree with this almost totally. I'd hazard a guess that even if Saints get back into the premiership, win the league, win the FA Cup and the champions league I will never see a better player than Matty. Lambert, if he stays, could and probably will become a great player for us and maybe a legend if he's lucky - if he gets us two promotions then there's not many that could boast that. Matt though was as close as you could get to a one man team and without him we would have been relegated much much earlier.

Panini 2010 World Cup Sticker album
revolution saint replied to revolution saint's topic in The Lounge
Don't get me started....poor little fella already has the David Tennant Dr Who outfit but being a ginger looks more like Chris Evans. If I don't get him into football soon then he's a prime candidate for bullying........ Luckily the stickers seem to be working. -
Panini 2010 World Cup Sticker album
revolution saint replied to revolution saint's topic in The Lounge
Thanks for the tips everyone and you'll be pleased to know it worked a treat. I got three albums in the end one each for the nephew and neice and one for me (clearly they'll need someone to swap with). Best thing was when the 4 year old neice found a Paraguay player and said "red and white! Southampton!" bless her. Oh and not got any swaps so far........ -

Aren't they trading cards rather than the stickers?
