What do you expect. They are the cash cows

I made a pilgrimage about a month ago. First time I’d been back since 2003. It’s a damn shame what they did with the Dell site. Was so underwhelmed

No, booing is perfectly acceptable when he is a s*** player.

Great post Bermuda. A little introspection is required by all. Racism is not born it is learned. I have had to challenge my own prejudice. I was brought up to hate Catholic’s and have done things I’m ashamed of. I have seen the big picture and try to walk in the other persons shoe. I often fail but I try. This is what was funny about Muckie calling me a Mick. I was brought up in a loyalist home with a father in the UDR and the RUC. My grandfather was in the B specials and other members of my family have fought in Wars for the United Kingdom. Muckie saw Irishman and equated Mick. There’s your prejudice. we forget though that the majority drowned out the boos in the stadium because those fans knew what the booing was about. The vast majority in this country are not racist but the boo boys who are need to be challenged and drowned out. -

Hi Turkish, I have visited Ephesus and Bodrum and Pammukele for that matter. We went to the Roman necropolis nearby too. We also stopped off at the Persian rug factory. We didn’t buy anything. I feel international travel let’s us see other cultures, empathise with their lives and ultimately let’s us see that other peoples are nothing to fear and that we can all live together equally without having to denigrate others to raise ourselves up. I guess what I’m saying is that travel broadens the mind and promotes equality. or is that too woke? and yes that is a rather original way to get a forum board name. -

I haven’t ignored it. You are saying people are booing the political baggage. I disagree. -
The place was great. I remember my first week in Southampton I walked into the Dell past the office and the doors 5o the west stand were open. I just walked in and sat in the stand and looked at the ground where George Best played. I was mesmerised at the size of the ground and thought it was totally normal to just sit in the stand on an non match day lol. That’s where my love affair began. St Mary’s always felt like the wife and the Dell my mistress. Lol

But what a string! When it works we can compete. I can see no other way a club of our size can compete. It’s certainly not through transfers and the academy isn’t pulling up strings.

It’s funny how the new buildings seem to look shabby much quicker. I never thought the dell looked shabby after 100 years but maybe that’s nostalgia.

I agree mate, watch the game, you get a much better idea of what’s actually happening with your own eyes and EARS as opposed to what others may actually want you to believe.

It is one of the arguments put up by the booing apologists and right wing press or am I incorrect that BLM are a left leaning Marxist group intent on the overthrow of the state. I forgot that it was BLM that was on the Wembley pitch. What do the England players who support BLM stand for if not for the overthrow of the white state? What is it that the England players are kneeling for? I thought it was about them supporting their teammates and racial equality. -

I agree with you. They are perfectly entitled to and I totally agree with the right to protest. where we disagree is the reason they are doing it. You choose to believe it is because of political baggage because we all know that football fans, of which I am one, are aware of the nuances of Marxist ideology and the overthrow of the state. I believe there was a more sinister reason which I perceive to be on the rise in this country. we will have to agree to disagree. After all isn’t that what a democracy is? -

Apologies Sue, mostly a lurker and mostly non confrontational but as a result of disagreements on this subject and admittedly my own childish behaviour seem to have engaged the gam.., sorry reactionary dinosaurs and I can’t let it go. This is one example of the stereotype Irish temper that is accurate. -

Are you even Turkish? Have you been to Ankara, Ephesus, Bodrum? You seem to be living in England and been following Saints for years. I thought you would have followed Fenerbace or Galatasaray -

Good God, I moved away from the troubles in 92 for a better life and settled in Southampton so decided to support my local team. I have since moved. I won’t rise to the casual stuff later in your post but again it’s just banter innit? -

Mental gymnastics again but you are right, if gammon refers to all white people and I have been a racist I apologise and also to myself because I am white. There are other terms I can use that refer to political beliefs I disagree with. Can you agree also that using the racist term “Mick” is not acceptable? -

I can’t agree Hypo. Express your dislike in other ways. Booing your own team Is rubbish. Can’t you see that because of the reaction. How must those England players have felt, Christ. Are you going to boo Saints players when you get a chance because of this? I will never boo my team. I might boo Redmond because he’s s*** but not because of his politics. -

I was on Saintsforever and the ugly before that as well. Was a member of Northern Saints for a while. Don’t shop in Tescos. More of a Waitrose man. Like my prawn sandwiches don’t I? (Only a little dig) I’ve been to the cup finals and love my club. I was on the boundary park terrace when Saints scored six, Huddersfield, Wednesday, Bolton, Burnley so I’ve been around the grounds, loved it but have also heard the racism from our own fans. I was a coward and never called it out because I believed it was only the most vocal minority. I am primarily a lurker but this booing has riled me. I don’t mind saying it. It was so open. So I can’t apologise for calling it out. -

Very many are, not closet, overt racists and if you are referring to people booing being seen as racists because of their booing don’t do it. That’s how it looks to the vast majority of the population. The team and Southgate have clearly articulated their intent. If the booing continues, to me it is quite clear what the intent of the booing is. -

No, not silencing, diagreeing and particularly booing your own team because of an anti racism gesture. As the team and Southgate have said quite clearly. I agree with the England team and their stance. I don’t not agree with Farage/Fox/O’Neil Etc on this as I believe the dinosaurs are a dying breed and their behaviour needs to be shamed. The ones who boo anti racism are on the wrong side of history. If you disagree with BLM protest at BLM rallies not at football matches. To me and many others it was reminiscent of bananas being thrown at Black players. -

Projecting mate, but you can say it all you want. I can take it. But silencing people because they disagree with you is classic G behaviour. Next you’ll be telling me to move to the EU if I love it so much.
