It's the hope that gets you. Prior to the tournament everyone was content to have no hope what so ever. We could just sit back and enjoy watching a feast of football. But the silly buggers went and avoided humiliation against France, then fluked two wins against the Ukrainians and Swedes. hence the media started to build them up.. hence the hope. Although our EPL is the strongest and most competitive league in the world, so we are told, our national team are no longer a world force, nor even in the top 5 in Europe. Why is that ?? Possibly because every other nations players, save Germany, have prospered by our Premier league, and our clubs facilities at the expense of our own prospects.. Time we drew up the drawbridge and put much stronger rules in place that prevented some of our English clubs working against the national interests by employing more foreign imports..
