I went through every gambit of emotions yesterday, after a very tiring and expensive day. But mainly they were of frustration, anger, and disappointment. I am not even going to comment on the game, that's been done, and I agree with 99.9% of what's been posted. But Why were we dished up this platter by a team that was supposed to easily win this division ? I was surprised to see we weren't physically fit, after being told that the preseason was hard. I suggest anyone who looked like they did yesterday should go through a training session that WGS had planned. They looked unbalanced from the start, even considering the injured few. They looked unmotivated from the start, and even worse in the second half. Tactically they were reactive rather than proactive All a damning testament to manager and his coaching staffs preseason training plans. The recruitment of players in the close season was restricted to free agents. Some normal transfer targets were tried for, but those offers were just a cosmetic exercise being derisory and plain insulting to both the target player and his club. Whether the chairman is financial backing Pardew's promotion plans is open to question, but certainly the manager is making himself an easy target with yesterdays effort on the field. Anyhow.. It will be a long time, and more than that shown yesterday should be on offer, before I make this tiring expensive journey again. I felt I had been conned.

If you needed to hit the ground running, and we did, you need to get in players early. Pardew wanted that, yet it didn't happen. He had identified areas we needed to strengthen, including another striker in the mould of Lambert, another CM, as well as a right back. However our only signings have been a left back and two right backs, all out of contract, all looking to leave their respective clubs (good, but cheap) Bids for the other targets have all been described as either derisory or plain insulting, with little hope of tempting the selling clubs. As a result we were unable to get Jackson, Tyson, Stock, or Philips, nor re-sign Papa or Antonio. We are now in a catch up situation, as most of rivals for promotion settled on their squad early, got them in the team, and they are all fit and bedded in. This leads to the question... is Pardew getting full financial backing from the chairman? Yes, there will be opportunities for loan players in the next few weeks. Remembering of course NC's dislike of loaning in players. Will the chairman OK them, or is happy we have enough to get us promoted despite his managers obvious differing opinion.

You misunderstand, the information on the letter was incomplete in June, I used the word sanitized. Since then (at end of July to be precise. last week) a full copy has been available to all the other member clubs. Who are these magical signings anyhow, do you mean all the players who were out of contract with their clubs? Have we actually bought someone from a club that had a current contract in this window ?

The full letter arrived at the clubs mid July, along with the minutes of the FL Meeting held in June in Malta. Yes, the Echo did report on the letter in June but only the sanitized one sanctioned at the time in the press release. And that concentrated on parachute payments.

I respect your opinion, but honestly after the phone call, I checked with 3 other clubs to see if there was such a letter in circulation. I was not going take this sort of flak on here just on one persons say so. There is, and it's not pulling any punches, nor using any diplomatic language, everyone of the clubs know exactly how and what NC thinks of them. I am trying not to express an opinion about it.

I had a very long telephone call from someone I know to be trustworthy at the club. I will not divulge his/her name, there are a lot of very frightened people there ATM. I did ring 3 other clubs and each one confirmed they had had a letter from the Football League regarding SFC refusal to attend the meeting. Some of the comments were not very complimentary about our chairman and club. I am sure that someone from the press will take this up soon.

All the other chairman of the football league are meeting pre season. Our chairman is the only absentee. He sent a letter, refusing to meet with them, and criticizing their running of the FootballLeague. The Football League were so upset at his comments they sent copies to all the other 71 clubs he criticized. HOW TO WIN FRIENDS AND INFLUENCE PEOPLE.. Mr Cortese:facepalm:

Our overall strength as a squad has deteriorated since the end of last season IMO. Yes, we signed a good left back, but we already one, and we had cover in Mills. Signed two right backs, got shot of 3... Thomas, James, and Semi. If we sign Carter, our midfield options improve, but we also have to take into consideration that we have let Papa go without any obvious effort to keep him, the same goes for Antonio. No new signings up front, despite AP's stated intent on doing so. He also stated he wanted his squad in place early. Obviously that hasn't happened, unless this was the extent of recruitment. Last season we were very lucky with injuries and suspensions. As we have seen already that doesn't mean we will be as lucky again this season. We have only to scratch the surface of this squad to reveal Wooton, and more worryingly PULIS. God forbid a long term injury to Ricky, Spider, or Fonte. The question is why have we lagged behind our rivals in the transfer market, is it the manager failing to identify realistic targets? Doubt that, we know he has tried one or two options, albeit with derisory offers. Is it NC reluctant to back the manager he so obviously tried to get rid of earlier in the close season? As I have no season ticket, I will venture that as a suggestion. That Nicola is playing silly buggers, and risking us having a a slow start. NC now has to prove he backs AP and provide him with some real cash to get in some real players. 6 DAYS TO GO...
