  1. I would offer £500k as a first offer, maybe go up to £750k Would he come here.... yes he would buy into the 5 year plan, and be at his peak just as we reach the Premiership. Besides he would have me nagging in his ear about how good a career move it would be. It worked with one of our other keepers, albeit a loan move:) His mate, Richard Wright, has always said that the Saints fans and the facilities at the club are the best he has experienced, he would advise him. Re Kelvins value.. £250-350k.... but in all honesty he is worth more to us if he stays.
  2. Your just not listening... he will not be going to sit on the bench This time West Ham are wanting to replace Green, who desperately wants away... Last season West Ham wanted him just as cover .. THATS THE DIFFERENCE
  3. "I don't think Green will move from W.Ham either. He's a competent keeper and with a decent defence would be even better. " The wheels are already in motion
  4. sorry... it happens:cry::blush:
  5. I rate him as one the best young keepers in country.. Last season he was behind a very poor defence, there were changes in management and coaches he had to deal with. He knew both Man Utd and Arsenal were tracking him very closely. That's a lot of pressure for a young keeper. He came through it well, I thought. His basic goalkeeping skills did not suffer, nor has his confidence. Joe actually lives quite close to me, and I did coach him for about 4-5 years, until he left Norwich. So, you could say I am biased.. I have also coached several league keepers, 2 of which went on to play international football (Richard Wright & Rob Green) I can honestly say I have every confidence Joe will go on to represent his country for quite sometime.
  6. All I will say is that I haven't spoke to Kelvin for about 2 weeks., that's why I'm not sure how he will react. 2 of the others keepers mentioned I have spoken to only this last weekend. I will offer an opinion, and it is only a personal opinion as a Saints fan. I would be worried if we went into next seasons campaign without KD. I would do everything possible to keep KD, and it is more likely than not that he will stay. If he didn't, I would be happy to see us try to obtain a replacement, rather than go with what we have. No disrespect to Bart, who is a good keeper, but he is still not the full monty yet,and he is not immune to injury. And if someone asks me where to look for that replacement... I would direct them to Peterborough.. and hurry before someone else gets there. But lets hope a replacement is not necessary !
  7. Try to read the thread carefully.. here is the opener again "Some goal keeper news A series of moves concerning goalkeepers could well explain Barts willingness to stay at Southampton. Kelvin may get a chance for a Premiership swansong at either West Ham or at Fulham." It refers to a ( not mentioned in the media) merry go round in keepers, mainly London based... which could involve Kelvin Davis... Which in turn could explains Barts position. West Ham, Fulham, QPR, Crystal Palace, Arsenal, and Tottenham are currently VERY ACTIVE in studying their keeper situation. It's no secret that Robert Green has been very unhappy at West Ham and is seeking a move. ... if you doubt that, PM me and I will explain why I know this. Joe Hart wants first team football.. All I am saying is that our keeper is on the radar of at least two Premier clubs.. as first choice, not as a backup. I don't know how Kelvin will react to an offer, I only know he still hankers after playing in the Premier again before he hangs up his gloves.
  8. someone is picking up on this thread. http://www.goal.com/en-gb/news/2897/championship/2010/06/29/2000799/former-england-goalkeeper-richard-wright-to-snub-west-ham-united-
  9. me ! and some people I know
  10. He could do, and may well want to. But he has no real money to spend at WHU, and they won't deal in monopoly money like his previous club. Although James would be a free transfer, signing on fees, wages, and most likely, image rights would be very expensive. Then his injury problems, that surfaced last season.
  11. Green is leaving West HAM.... he is also very much in the minds of Fulham... Hence W.HAM interest in KD again.. and his interest in them Richard Wright will be talking to George Burley this morning..Wright’s arrival could pave the way for Julian Speroni’s departure to QPR or West Ham.

  13. your welcome young man:p
  14. it's supposed to be retro You should know that keepers pre 1978 were not allowed to wear yellow... Yellow goalkeepers jersey were only worn by England keepers in international games note Gordon Banks on England duty in 1970..
  15. No worries, Antony Pulis is still with us:rolleyes:
  16. this new transparency doesn't seem....ummm TRANSPARENT
  17. and fly England flags on their cars...
  18. RETRO GEAR
  19. don't you think it's taking secrecy a bit far by announcing in the middle of the night :p:p:p:p we don't want to get the reputation for being creatures of the night:D
  20. Norwich will not sign him.. they signed another midfield player today.. FACT further up the thread.. you will see my post.. I asked them... I'm not kidding Norwich pulled out as soon as Charlton told them the price.
  21. I asked someone local who would know if Norwich was interested in Bailey.. "Definately not, not at their asking price" "We got Fox from down the road instead" confirmation.. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/n/norwich/8722503.stm
  22. Bailey's best football buddy is Jason Puncheon. Charlton need to raise £500k in the next two weeks to stave off Admin and we are the only club interested with that sort of money on the hip Pardew and Bailey have a good relationship, not only did he sign for Charlton, he also made him skipper. Baileys family want to remain in the south.. Bailey recognises we are going on an upward direction THERE'S 5 REASONS HE COULD SIGN US...
  23. do you not think it will be one season too far for Jaidi? I think we need a replacement now.. Pat McCarthy, Fonte's former center back partner is available from Palace
  24. Another slant on the pay now, not later, policy I am aware of Marcus and Cortese principles of paying up front, and the way he is trying to run our football club with the same maxim. Afterall they paid up front for the club didn't they. So to ask us to front up for ST's, seems only reasonable, despite promising in the fans charter that the club would keep the installment plan. One of the very first things they changed was that everyone had to pay to get in, no more freeloaders, no matter how much they contributed in the past. Staff privileges and reductions went, ie free car parking. One or two instances of over staffing went quickly, without compassion. All good sound business practices, you may think. .or is it? Hold on Marcus and Nicola, your being Hypocrites here. Didn't you oversee this club having loan players last season? THATS NOT PAYING UP FRONT! Wasn't the Puncheon and Barnard signings held up over the amount of money up front, and subsequent installments? I remember Plymouth nearly pulling out of deal due to an unrealistic offer of installments. Southend weren't happy either but they had no choice considering their financial position. I have no idea how the other transfers were paid, but I do recall Coventry bemoaning the way we changed the goal posts after agreeing a deal for Eliott Ward. Now I not criticizing the pay up front principle that is being imposed on some of our supporters, just saying they should also extend those principles to themselves when buying players. They should also, under these principles, pay suppliers up front. JUST A THOUGHT.. Would other clubs have pay up front for our players?? If so, no wonder we can't sell anyone.:confused::confused::confused::confused:
  25. stinks of Poyet trying to hide it from us..:):)
