  1. definitely
  2. you are all wrong.... he is fully fit, he is kicking a ball. It now remains to get him fully contact fit. That will mean getting him to play several 6 a side games against ratboy Vardy. So expect the Saints to bid for Vardy this week. I'm just off down to the bookies to put my pension on Saints signing Vardy there.. that's SCOUSER type logic for you......
  3. This proposed deal (if true) seems to the best way forward, even though I would hate to lose Ryan Bertrand. http://www.hitc.com/en-gb/2017/07/16/bookies-southampton-65-favourites-for-arsenal-full-back-kieran-g/
  4. here is the link that mentions Thomas Vermaelen coming here https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/premiership/these-underrated-southampton-players-could-play-a-huge-part-next-season/
  5. lucky man IMO
  6. Pelligrino announced his backroom staff today..and Black remains "Meanwhile Eric Black – who was appointed alongside Claude Puel last summer – will remain at the club whilst taking on the role of Senior First Team Coach. Despite controversies during his maiden season on the south coast, it’s believed that Black was kept on due to his popularity with the players and staff. The Scot was linked with a bribing scandal late last year but claims have since simmered down, meaning the former Aston Villa assistant will remain a vital part of Southampton’s coaching team for the foreseeable future. http://saintsmarching.com/2017/07/15/southampton-officially-announce-new-coaching-staff/ https://southamptonfc.com/news/2017-07-15/mauricio-pellegrino-southampton-coaching-staff-confirmed
  7. As someone has already said Redmond and Tadic are considered wingers not midfielders.. Redmond in particular was described by our manager as the new Thiery!! We could argue this out for eons, it doesn't change the fact our midfield did not contribute enough goals..end of. It's not phisical enough, lacks pace and hieght, quile and definately lacks goals. That needs sorting
  8. Southampton...Thomas Vermaelen is 'reportedly' heading towards the south coast team...Mirror IMO would be a good signing if he has got over his injury problem even though it will only be for 1 year. And, if he is not a replacement for VvD.
  9. lol...I was beginning to wonder if he thought I meant individual goal tallys.
  10. big question is ...When are the scousers going to let it sink in and let us get on with our preseason preperations ?
  11. it depends on how many goals you expect a season. I would say 60 goals in a season is a reasonable target, that includes cup games. I would expect 3 strikers to get 30-35 of those. So, if your midfield can only manage to score 5-7 between them..How many do you expect the defenders and goalkeepers to score? We've just had a season where everyone will agree we struggled to score..we totalled 53 goals. And, that includes none in the FA Cup. So a total of 60 goals is about average. But we should be getting/expecting more than average, and that's why the midfield has to contribute.
  12. 12-15 goals from 4-5 midfield players is not unreasonable to expect in a whole season. And please keep your replies to me civilised. Starting off by saying "You are out of your mind"..thats not very polite
  13. We need at least 12-15 goals from our midfield, we are not getting half that. Lack of pace, physical presence and penetration. We are quite good at keeping the ball but our lack of playing 'telling balls' leaves us struggling to score. As for winning the ball back, only Romeu seems capable. At the moment the only creative play comes from an ageing Steven Davis. So in my opinion we need a rethink of personnel and shape. Maybe 2 in and 2 out of the door.
  14. SAD..I know but I spent/wasted an hour searching the web for information on this, so called ex-lawyer Daniel Vanderkamp. He is the one who started the twitter rumour that we have started negoiations with Liverpoool and the deal for VvD is close. I found a German footballer by that name. I found an electrician from Reading of that name. There is even a road called Dan Van Dr Kamp Ave in Liverpool. There are 5 Daniel Vanderkamps on FB. Whilst on Facebook I was directed to a Liverpool fans site that had this about Daniel Vanderkamp... "Daniel Vanderkamp, the lawyer who revealed the Van Dijk talks has been suspended from Twitter." ?????? is this ex lawyer for real ????????????? edit. found this "France-based lawyer Daniel Vanderkamp worked alongside ... The account has since been taken down, but the tweets come after ... Klopp said: "Am I allowed to talk about this? ." whilst doing a google search...but when clicked the link it just took me to the Liverpool Echo and Kloops statement yesterday.
  15. "Echo says we are NOT in talks, SSN understands we ARE in talks. Take your choice." we are truely in the silly season
  16. thinking about this.. and the answer is YES our own MICKY ADAMS He was appointed manager of Swansea with money to spend on a his squad. That promise of money proved false and he walked out after 7 days in charge
  17. SNAP... East Anglian draw
  18. No, I'm not saying we shouldn't have loaned Toby. We need to get our idea of a loan leading to a permanent signing the same as Atletico's. Because we sure got our fingers burnt then. We thought Toby was ours, Atletico and Spurs had other ideas. This time Atletico have said they want £5m upfront, that's a hell of a loan fee for one season without the guarantee of a permanent signing.
  19. as I understand it's not a signing as such...It's a 'Toby style' try before you buy loan, with the final transfer fee being sorted after a season's loan. And we all saw how that turned out. Atletico are as slippery as a bag of eels. Best avoided IMO, unless Les thinks he can trust them
  20. groin strains, back strain, both hard to detect. Unnecessary yellows, maybe a red card. Give away a penalty or two. Depends on how blatant you want to be. But I cannot imagine it getting to that too much, otherwise other clubs, including Liverpool will back off
  21. Tevez ? another one-time Liverpool target. We had a whole summer of ex pool players telling us he wanted leave Juve to be there, with Brenda. And that he was the ideal striker who would win them the league...and who did they end up signing ? INGS!
  22. 1 If VD leaves for Liverpool it would make the board look weak and wobbly with more U-Turns than Teresa May. 2 It would make LFC liars and cheats for reneging on their public promise not to pursue the player. 3 It would impact on our fans faith in the 'Southampton Way'. Questions would have to be asked, and answered honestly (no PR sham), about our ambition to bring CL football here. 4 The commercial value of the club would take a big hit if it was thought to be just a selling club with no interest in any trophies or European qualifcations. in short, our club would be a laughing stock
  23. exactly SuperSaint https://www.thesportsman.com/articles/it-s-time-liverpool-gave-up-on-virgil-van-dijk-and-signed-someone-else
  24. I am not saying it is Reed trying to sell the player. On the contrary, he is the one trying not to sell him after his statement that he is not for sale. However I do think Reed underestimated VvD's reaction, and determination though. It has now become a battle of wills between Reed(representing our club) and the player and his agent on behest of Liverpool FC.
  25. Would be even more convenient if someone other than Liverpool put in a serious bid for him. Someone like Barca or any other club thats qualified for the CL. That would really test Liverpool's claim he only wants to go there and will let Reed off the hook.
