  1. Fair play for doing it, but any explanation as to why he opted to sit with the fans?
  2. Had a feeling we'd win it, and delighted that we did. A tricky place to go, and with results elsewhere going against us, we almost had to win to keep pace with the teams at the top. Full credit to the players though, a good response following Tuesday's disappointment. Another win against Yeovil and then things will be looking very good heading into the Bournemouth match.
  3. I know a group of players used to share a log-in that they used to view and post on the forum, but whether that still happens I don't know. Wouldn't surprise me if a few of the current squad had a look from time to time. I'd certainly be tempted if I were in their shoes! I doubt too many of them would have logged in after Tuesday mind . . .
  4. Right, I'm going to stick my neck on the line here and predict we'll win 2-1. We'll go 2-0 up, concede half way through the second period and be forced to hang on at the end. However, we'll just about hold on to claim what will prove to be a crucial three points. It won't be pretty, it certainly won't be enjoyable, but I've got a sneaky feeling we'll win.
  5. Always was a good player, even when he was at Saints. Was captain of our U18's, reserves and capped at England U19 level. Was highly regarded during his time here and predicted to have a bright future. Problem was, he was thrown in too early under the Poortvliet era, and it knocked him back a few steps in terms of development. Hopefully he'll settle at Walsall and prove that he's got what it takes to make a decent career for himself. Always find some of the criticism thrown at him by sections of our support as slightly unjust and a little unfair.
  6. After last night's disappointment, Colchester is a big, big game. Win it, and follow it up with another three points against Yeovil, and things will be looking a lot better. However, lose on Saturday and automatic promotion will be a big ask. Would be typical of Saints to lose against a relegation threatened side and then beat a playoff chasing team.
  7. A very disappointing result, especially when the majority of the teams around us picked up points. Sounds as though Walsall's goal lived a charmed life, how we didn't score is beyond me. Still, if you don't take your chances then you set yourself up for a defeat. Credit to the hosts, they took their chance and defended for their lives, fully deserve to haul themselves out the drop zone after some fine form in recent weeks. As for us, I'm extremely concerned, but I refuse to panic just yet. If, and it's a big if, we beat Colchester and Yeovil, we'll be right back on track as we go into the Bournemouth game. All is not lost, but this is a major setback, and we can't afford too many more, that's f'sure. One more worrying thing, is that our squad is looking a little depleted. With Guly, Forte, Schneiderlin, Seaborne, Chamberlain and Connolly all struggling with injuries, it'll be interesting to see how we line up on Saturday!
  8. Harding is my preferred choice at left-back but Dickson provides healthy competition for places. People seem to forget that he was highly sought after in the summer and a few Championship clubs were in for him. Brentford were very disappointed to lose him, and he was in the League One Team of the Year last season if I remember rightly? Could be wrong however. My point is, he's a very capable player, more than good enough for us and will do a job should we get promoted too.
  9. So, any ideas on the current injury situation at Saints? Did I read somewhere that Forte and Seaborne have both been nursing knocks, hence their absence from the last two matchday squads? Not looking good for Bialkowski either, I'm sure people will join me in wishing him a speedy recovery, as it looks as though it could be a serious one.
  10. Difference is quite simply down to home form. We've lost 3 at St. Mary's, whilst Brighton are undefeated at home. Our away records are pretty similar. In terms of squads, on paper, I believe ours is better, but with Poyet at the helm, Brighton have had a fantastic season and fully deserve to be top.
  11. I would suggest it's Mandaric looking to sign these players as opposed to Megson.
  12. Worth bumping this. Lambert's doing well, keep voting!
  13. Cheers MLG, much appreciated!
  14. Rickie Lambert is an early front-runner to be nominated for the ESPN Fan's Player of the Month Award for February. See article below . . . http://www.givemefootball.com/league-one/lambert-and-murray-shoot-into-awards-contention Worth getting behind him and voting? Takes two seconds to register and vote, and it'd be good to see another Saint win this award! Be even better if we stop a Brighton player from winning! http://fansaward.givemefootball.com/
  15. I know it's not strictly Saints related, but was wondering if people could help me out. At the start of the season, someone posted a link to a website which had a list of all the fans forums for every team in the Football League. Would anyone be able to point me in the right direction as to where this website is? I can't find it for the life of me! Cheers in advance.
  16. Bailey

    Adam or Alex ?

Lallana every time for me. Chamberlain is a top, top talent, but he's replaceable. Maybe not in terms of quality, but we could sign a powerful, speedy replacement who is more than capable at this level. Lallana is head and shoulders above any other player in this division. His technique, movement and passing are first-class, and we're lucky to have him.
  17. I don't think Sir Alex would say something like this in the press if his target was a League One player. If he's saying this to the media, I expect it's a bigger name than AOC. Wouldn't surprise me if he was a target for United in the summer however.
  18. He made a positive impact on the side when he joined. He was at best a lower-league Championship defender, but he stood out in what was a poor Saints team that deservedly got relegated. And what a goal he scored at Watford! To those that can't remember, enjoy . . .
  19. Wish him all the very best at Yeovil. A good pro, can't fault his effort, but ultimately he's not good enough for us anymore.
  20. I think Chamberlain will start on the bench Saturday anyway. Expect us to make a few changes, with a line-up not too dissimilar to that of the Blackpool game. Exeter on Tuesday is the most important game out of the two.
  21. As good as. Obviously can't state who as would get them in a spot of bother. Apologies for the 'look at me' style post. As it stands, Mackail-Smith isn't aware of any interest from Saints, but it doesn't mean Solent are wrong. We may well be interested in him, but no approach has been made as of yet.
  22. No contact from Saints as of yet. Mackail-Smith wants to leave, but Posh won't settle for anything less than £2m. Leicester have been mentioned as a potential destination. Doesn't mean to say that Solent are wrong however. Saints MAY want to sign Mackail-Smith before the window shuts, but as of yet, no formal offer has been made.
  23. Bad day at the office but put the razor blades away! We're bound to slip up over the course of the season, but results elsewhere mean it's not the end of the world. Win our game in hand and we're back in the automatic promotion places. Simples. Make no mistake about it though, today was a bad performance against a side we should be beating. Full credit to Tranmere though. From the sounds of it, they fully deserved the win. Fair play.
  24. He'll be heading to Palace.
  25. Surprised how negative people are on here. As Adkins has said, don't get too elated when we win, and don't be too disheartened when we lose (or draw). County came with a game plan and exectued it perfectly. They hassled us and gave us no time on the ball, and it worked to great effect. They were happy with a point, and why wouldn't they be? As for us, a frustrating day all round really. Lallana is definitely the missing link. When he doesn't play, we don't tick. If he's out for 6-8 weeks as is being speculated, then we need to bring another body 'into the building' IMO. Someone with a creative spark. Still, I'd have taken a point at Oldham and a win today, so lets not be too downbeat after today's result. A very long way to go, so keep the faith.
