  1. 1999 called, it wants its joke back. And that's only one sign, not a multiple of signs which would make the "gag" correct.
  2. It not only kind of incorporated stripes but was also a nod to our formative years when Southampton St. Mary's used to wear red and white halves.
  3. Just wondering, how is our club any stronger (or weaker for that matter) depending on the style of shirt the team wears?
  4. Seen Omar Rowe play a couple of times and he was quite impressive; very lively and positive going forwards. Akin to a young Danny Wallace. He is (or was when I saw him last season) very short, but definitely looks like he's got ability. Whether he'll make the step up to PL football, time will tell.
  5. Rank Xerox favourite. Sash kit second. Cup final stripes next. I welcome us trying variations of the stripes from time to time; apart from when it looks sh*t, like this year and last year.
  6. Of course they'll calm down. Even the most ardent whinger on here recognises its only a flipping shirt. And while it would be much better if we wore something more in keeping with our history, we'll move on from it. That doesn't mean to say that the change will be truly accepted; fans will just grin and bear it, and we'll get used to the fact that we supporta side that wear a kit most fans think is sh*t. Predominantly for the fact that because a lot of people want to support the team in the latest home shirt, so there's f*ck all we can actually do about it.
  7. You're not the full shilling, are you MR08?
  8. Not quite what you were saying, but Aberdeen have the away template for their home kit.
  9. You need to know where you came from to know where you're going.
  10. There you have it; I don't think a boycott will actually have any effect other than showing how deep the feeling is towards stripes. This dictat of an entirely new style kit has by most accounts come right from the top. Strong rumours that the CEO rode roughshod over all common sense last year with the red and white kit idiocy; yet is seemingly still content to throw out a kit that the majority of fans don't want or like. Its far too easy to put out a kit that the fans do want, so this is clearly a show that fans' opinions will not be heard in this regard. So be it; I just won't go along with that by buying it, that's all I have really and I don't think anything else will make a difference other than not one single person buying it, which simply will not happen.
  11. They would be interesting, but I'd be amazed if they were ever released (other than the usual Pravda nonsense of "fastest selling" or what not). I've heard from a few people that the white away kit was one of the worst selling kits in Saints history, but we'll probably never know for sure.
  12. Don't particularly like the V effect. Not really bothered about colours of the away kit; yellow is traditional but its good to mix it about a bit. Not really a fan of this one, but then I'm not a big fan of black kits in general.
  13. When you end up buying the shirt anyway it all becomes a bit redundant, IMO. But there we go; different strokes for different folks. I'll boycott it by not buying it (and generally thinking it looks thoroughly sh*t), so we each have our own approach of "trying something".
  14. I'm perfectly calm, thanks chap. But we are being re-branded, aren't we? New style badge, new style kit. I don't particularly like it, but it'll happen nonetheless, no matter how many facebook campaigns get underway.
  15. Richard Chaplow and Jack Cork don't look too happy in their 2014/15 Saints kits.
  16. I'm just disappointed that the idea of red and white halved shirts never made it into your facebook protest.
  17. In the majority of 1 of believing that our club started life as St. Mary's YMA and evolved into SFC? No, I think its more.
  18. Yes, well done, you're getting it now. "The team that play in red and white today can trace their roots back to the club formed in 1885 by members of St. Mary's Church Young Men's association who played their football on the banks of the Itchen for 13 years before moving on."
  19. You asked when SFC was formed. It wasn't 1885. While sash, quarters and halves are synonymous with our history and represent the roots of the two sides that evolved to become SFC, technically they were not ever SFC kits.
  20. This should clear it for you James. http://www.historicalkits.co.uk/Southampton/Southampton.htm
  21. You start a campaign for whatever you like, Matthew. Please don't ask me to be part of it though, thanks.
  22. If you say so, Matthew.
  23. SFC started in red and white stripes. Blue shorts, blue socks.
