Wouldn't argue with that; he was pretty much unplayable for about a month. He's clearly got talent; no doubt about that. Just nowhere near consistent enough IMO. **** it; 2-0.

We were always that under Strachan.

What is that, though? I think he got picked tonight from the Saints system being so good. We've got some really good players, but we've also got others who typically stay relatively under the radar but fit in so well to the system that they are invaluable to the Saints system. A bit like Marsden was with the Bridge effect. JRod has fitted in for us very well, but there was no great clamour for him to get into this England squad before it was announced, and rightly so IMO. Its harsh to say but I hope his position is one that we strengthen upon come January.

Tell me the things he did ok? OK means that he showed he should play again. Which parts were those? I'm interested to hear.

Think you might have your Saints specs on there. He randomly shovelled it straight out of play when trying to pass, and had a "shot" from 25 yards that barely made the goal. Lallana has got better after a nervy start but hasn't yet done himself any justice whatsoever. A decent benchmark for when others slag off the likes of Welbeck, Strurridge etc.

This Scottish keeper isn't up to much IMO.And Glasgow is correct; Chile look like Saints, England look pedestrian in comparison.

That's a decent shout. Although with Rose having been out injured Naughton has featured a fair bit (although he didn't make their squad today).

I don't disagree about Fonte, he has definitely stepped up. But its extremely unlikely that he and Lovren will play in every game, injury and/or suspension could well mean that we have to rely on our backup, and I just don't see that we're anywhere near as good defensively with Hooiveld or Yoshida. If we did buy "another Lovren" then Fonte would make way and become the first reserve. For now though you're entirely right, Fonte has done a brilliant job. As for reserve GK, I reckon there's plenty of keepers who would move despite being sat on the bench most weeks. Can't say I'd say the same for a left back though. I reckon we'd perhaps be better trying to find a left footed Ivanovic, someone who is equally comfortable at left back as at centre back. They don't just grow on trees though...

A centre back, a much better backup keeper and a replacement for Ramirez (to offer a decent option to Lallana and JRod) would be my choice. Don't think we'll get all that though, maybe only 1 or at most 2 through the door (if indeed any at all).

Quite frankly, no! I don't mind admitting that I never thought I'd see my team play like this. Never. Such a treat.

It's so, so much fun watching the Saints right now. I missed out on the early 80s amazing side; but goodness me, this is light years ahead of anything I've seen in a Saints shirt. I've been critical of minor things in the past but, goodness me, I consider myself lucky to be a Saints fan right now.
