  1. Adkins said in his press conference yesterday that Ramirez would be returning to training today. Quite how fit/sharp he is after a few days off and a couple of trans-Atlantic flights; well, that's another matter.
  2. Simply the Bestest Tickets for Pompey’s trip to Tranmere on Saturday (3pm kick-off) will be available to buy at Prenton Park. Adult and junior tickets can be bought at the away turnstiles, but senior and young person seats are only available from the ticket office where there may be long queues. Tickets are priced £19 for adults, £11 for seniors (60+) and young persons (17-22) and £6 for juniors (under 17). Pompey have sold 360 tickets for the clash with the League One leaders and seats can still be bought from the Frogmore Road ticket office until 3pm this afternoon. Surely some mistake??!! This is the best fans in the world we're talking about; there must be a zero missing??
  3. From that thread...
  4. Its just Lawro and the BBC's anti-Saints bias shining through, as usual.
  5. Deep down in southern England by the docks and the quays Way down in a suburb known as St. Mary’s There stood a stadium made of metal and brick Where played a Barbadian named Jonno Quick Who never ever learned to pass or cross so well But he could score a great goal just like ringing a bell Go go Go Jonno go go Go Jonno go go Go Jonno go go go Jonno Quick
  6. I just hope that Jonno Quick gets the chance that he deserves to prove himself in the Premier League. He was cruelly denied that when the transfer committee shipped him out to Crawley against Nigel Adkins' wishes. Since Nigel's meeting with Cortese where he laid it on the line that he'll only do things his way, we've seen something of an upturn in form although we had to wait for the final piece of the jigsaw to fall into place with the expiration of JQ's loan spell at Crawley (quite naturally the Crawley management didn't want such a supreme talent to leave early when still under loan contract so the wait for that to end has been somewhat excrutiating). I think Gaston Ramirez going back to Uruguay this week is no coincidence; he's now seen what the boy Quick can do in training and he clearly knows what's coming. I think we'll see Ramirez on the bench tomorrow with JQ occupying that number 10 spot, using his searing pace and ability to wreak utter havoc against the Biscuitmen. COYR.
  7. As who?
  8.
  9. Imagine that. "Mr Cortese, your absolute best bit of PR to the SFC fans and stakeholders would be to align yourself with past legends of the club such as Matt Le Tissier." The P45 would be the quickest served ever.
  10. Not noticed it before, but Nigel=God Poyet=Sod is quite possibly the sh*ttest username I've ever seen before. That takes some doing.
  11. Its a cheap and easy stereotype, but its a bit naive too. Some of the best refs I've played with, and most importantly some of the best referees you'll see at the top level of the game, are those that don't need to express their authority on the game. They blend into the background as best as possible; hence the old adage "the best referee is the one you don't notice".
  12. Kudos to you. I never played football at a high level, Hampshire League was my pinnacle. But refereeing was never something I would ever aspire to, simply because of the grief I constantly saw the refs get. And it was worse the further up the pyramid you go; I found Sunday morning footy was probably the best it got! There needs to be a massive culture change in football; sadly its got much worse in the last 20 years rather than see an upturn. I've reffed a handful of games, none of them competitively, and absolutely hated every single minute of them due to the amount of abuse that you get (most of which isn't heartfelt but just a natural reaction that is a part of the game).
  13. Marcus Hall.
  14. That's the regulation, yes. Saints give up to 3,200; due to the configuration of St. Mary's.
  15. Yes. But eating cash in the bank isn't incurring debt, or going more "into the red" than is otherwise known. It is spending cash reserves, which is fine in terms of law and stitches the PDT up in the long term but, again, doesn't account for this "in the red" statement. I'll reserve judgement on this one for now, it just doesn't seem to stack up.
  16. I'm consistently humoured by the mongboard etiquette of denigrating newspapers and their journalists when the story doesn't sit well, and talking the article up to the hilt when it exudes positivity. Probably my anti-Saints agenda at work, I reckon.
  17. As has been said. Alan Nixon writes for the Daily Mirror; he was spot on with every transfer that Saints made this summer, ahead of time.
  18. I don't think you could say that Boruc is, by talent, a third choice keeper. Whether its his fitness or whatever that's keeping out its a bit strange; that's he so bad to have played 2 games then been binned out entirely is, well, odd.
  19. Simple one, that. We've scored all our league points when Gazza has been in goal. And his goals against ratio is comfortably the best of the three.
  20. How do you mean? The CVA has been agreed, so they know how much they have to pay back. So the only unknown can be debt that the administrators have racked up; and as sh*t as Tricky Trev has been for them, he's not allowed to incur debt.
  21. Bear; that's twice in the last hour you've enlightened me. I'd completely forgotten that the Ramirez deal was in two parts. You really are smarter than the average bear.
  22. Sorry; which South Americans are you talking about?
  23. I totes forgot about your investigative journalistic skills, Bear. I won't forget a second time, don't you worry about that.
  24. That explains it.
  25. True enough; but the whole management of that situation is bizarre in the extreme. If he isn't in contention as he isn't fit enough, then why on earth did he play 2 first team games in the first place? Did it really take those games to realise he wasn't fit? And then, why bin him out of the squad altogether (if it wasn't for disciplinary reasons, which it surely must have been). I doubt the full truth will ever come out, but it really is thoroughly odd what's happened there. And without Boruc as an option, Davis is no real competition for Gazza so we're a bit stuck really.
