  1. Definitely for winning a medal. He’ll want to cement a place in the team though, he’s only started I believe 5 times in the league. Much better than going to Burnley though…..
  2. We are the second highest scorers in the league, we’re averaging almost exactly 2 goals per game which is pretty much identical to Ipswich who are top scorers by 4 but have played two games more. I don’t think scoring goals is any sort of undoing for us; it’s more the fact that we’ve conceded 54 goals, 8 other teams in the league have a better or equal goals against figure. Ipswich have similar stats to us but have made it work much better. Leicester and Leeds have run a much tighter ship, 38 and 34 goals conceded respectively. If we’re in this league next season then much work is to be done on fixing that leaky defence.
  3. Nicked this from the Ugly. A small number of fans attended a meeting before today's game. It was very informative with a few surprises. 1- 9000 safe standing places will installed The whole of the Northam will be safe standing, some of the Chapel and some in the away end 2- in the next couple of weeks, a special deal will be announced (Cheaper tickets?) for the Northam 3 Prices in other areas may rise 4-The club are looking to build a pub open 7 days a week They are tied into Kingfisher beer for 1 more season, but hope to get the beer prices down to £4/£4.50 a pint 5- Most of the parachute payment went on loan repayments (something to do with how the contracts were set up) 6- if we don't get promoted, many players have said they will leave (no names!!) 7-If the club can get the season tickets up to 24000 for a few seasons they would look at the possibility of expanding the ground 8-The players notice that the noise from home fans is not that good compared to the support they get from Saints fans away 9-There was more but can't remember!!! all signed off and approved by the police/authorities . The Industrial estate will become the parking for the away coaches. Still unclear if it will be closed off to home fans. There is a little bit of work to do to build barriers at the Chapel end. he said that club research had indicated that around 70% of Chapel fans said they would still go to the Chapel nest season
  4. Pretty sure the regs for safe standing are that one seated space = one standing space. Some Europeans do it differently but for English/British sides it’s the standing in front of a folded seat system.
  5. Fairly unsurprising news. Now, what about those blue shorts and socks…….
  6. Not many I’d have thought, I imagine Bondi ale houses are quite pricey.
  7. Maybe we can do a deal and just give him back? In reality….its striking that Swansea seem to be going after him and not SFC. We know that Saints delayed the deal to sign him so that we were not a Premier League club when he joined us, therefore reducing the compo paid. Now Swansea are bringing this action it seems to be against Martin himself and not the club. Interesting.
  8. I’ve said it before when hearing this but I’ll say it again. Call me old fashioned if you will, but shot stopping is the absolute number one priority of a keeper, and by miles. Claiming crosses is probably next up in importance. Being good with the feet is very useful in todays game but absolutely not the priority compared to the fundamentals of glovesmanship. Baz is excellent on the ball but sadly he’s risibly poor with his hands. Sticking with him is our downfall, I can only begin to imagine how bad Joe Lumley is tgat he can’t get a single league minute under his belt with this clown between the sticks.
  9. I remember someone trying to defend Baz on here a while ago, it might have been TWar and/or Gio, can’t recall. The statement was “his only real weakness is he’s not a good shot stopper”. I’ve always kind of thought it sums up everything about him, entirely style over substance. Looks great on the ball but, when it comes down to it, he’s got crisp packet wrists and barely makes any saves where you come away thinking “thank god for Baz, he bailed us out there”.
  10. Like a felled tree. He really cannot save anything low to his left (pretty shite centrally and to his right too, tbf). Such a glaring weakness in our squad that our reserve keepers can’t get a single league game ahead of, well, that.
  11. Mine is hopeless on my usually decent box, tried a few sources and all pretty unwatchable.
  12. “A total of 9500 safe standing seats”. Surely the northam has got much fewer than 9500 seats. Stadium has 32000 in total, pitch sides have more capacity than behind the goals, even if each stand were equal it would be 8k per stand. Intriguing.
  13. In this specific case (ball touching arm of striker then immediately going into the goal) and according to the laws, it very clearly does. Maybe I’d suggest having another look at the law as the other day you posted about it and got it wrong.
  14. Not so. The video evidence of the incident shows without any doubt whatsoever that the ball struck Che Adams' arm then went into the goal (the photo below is quite clear but the video evidence is much clearer and leaves no room for doubt). The fact therefore is that it was handball. And, being so, the laws clearly state that the goal should be disallowed. The referee's opinion was that it hadn't struck the arm. He was wrong. Therefore his opinion and the actual facts are two different things.
  15. Good god. Just because the referee doesn’t see it doesn’t change the facts. It was handball. It wasn’t given as handball. Two entirely different things.
  16. Puma’s release said “summer”, I believe.
  17. Red and white halves with black shorts white socks definitely. Being as we’ve just had the sort of half and half though, it won’t be that for a long while. I know the stripe fetishists get a bit angry when we haven’t had stripes for a season, but for me I’m not at all bothered. I always say it, but if a club as massive as Barcelona can forego traditional stripes more than once in a while then I think we can get over ourselves and do the same. If we’re going back to stripes then I’d definitely love to see a return to blue shorts/socks. The Hummel 89/90 stripes kit was a masterpiece but I can’t think of too many stripey kits outside of that I’ve been a big fan of. Bringing back the blue would be a big differentiator and also a nod to classic tradition.
  18. 🤣
  19. You left out the rest of the IFAB comments. The bottom bullet point is the pertinent one. Crucially, it has ruled that “accidental handball that leads to a team-mate scoring a goal or having a goal-scoring opportunity will no longer be considered an offence”. IFAB has now clarified that it is a handball offence when a player: “Deliberately touches the ball with their hand/arm, for example moving the hand/arm towards the ball; Touches the ball with their hand/arm when it has made their body unnaturally bigger. A player is considered to have made their body unnaturally bigger when the position of their hand/arm is not a consequence of, or justifiable by, the player’s body movement for that specific situation. By having their hand/arm in such a position, the player takes a risk of their hand/arm being hit by the ball and being penalised; or Scores in the opponents’ goal: directly from their hand/arm, even if accidental, including by the goalkeeper; or immediately after the ball has touched their hand/arm, even if accidental.”
  20. Same. I know it was given as a double touch by the ref but I didn’t pick it up in the replays. Nobody seemed to argue with the decision though so maybe it was.
  21. It’s only a concept. Thank god.
  22. Leicester fans forum seems extremely similar to ours. From just their last page on Enzo (every line is a different poster). I'm probably alone here, and I find it hard to understand myself, but how can football under Enzo, despite being top of the table, be more unenjoyable and frustrating than anything served up by Rodgers who got us relegated. Get rid of the Pep wannabe. His fault we lost. No tqctics Likeable bloke but he's far too attached to one system which is a chore to watch and is easily out-witted by poor managers with poor squads. We're just so, so boring to watch - in fact, I don't want to watch us anymore. You know it'll be 90+ minutes of slow, tedious, sideward passes which does nothing at all to actually advance or progress the game. It's just pony and he seems unable to even contemplate trying to play a different way. It's shite. I’ve defended the style of football but I’m just so bored of it now. Slow ponderous and boring. He’s lost the team they just don’t want to play for him. New manager clear out the team get rid of those running the club I don’t think anyone thinks we’re going to sack him, it’s just what a lot of us are praying for I think we need to part ways in the summer regardless of what happens. Enzo has been soul destroying since day 1 Personally, bar a few games in December I've not enjoyed our style this season and wouldn't be sorry to see him go when the seasonsdone Anyone who seriously believes Enzo is a long term fit at this club must be watching something different, we’re where we are because the squad is better than 90% of the league.
  23. Mara is an absolute waste of a shirt tonight. At least he won’t need to wash his kit afterwards.
  24. Stephens getting absolutely rinsed there.
