  1. I don't know. My guess is, falling out with the WHU management aside, he wouldn't just walk out of West Ham without an inclination that he'll get something as good or better elsewhere. And, 32 years old and in the England squad, his stock is fairly high. As stated before, I don't think there are any top 6 clubs that would come in for him as first choice keeper. Spurs maybe, but only if Friedel is deemed as too old. Top 10; maybe, maybe not, I certainly think Reina and Howard are better options. Bottom line, I have no idea what sort of wages Saints are offering, so I have no benchmark on whether we could get Green or not. The only things I do know are that I would very much like to sign him, and that if he does come he would rightly be a first choice keeper.
  2. No, your statement was that he only wanted out of West Ham for 3 reasons: I pointed out that (from what I and seemingly others have heard) that you were incorrect, he wanted out of West Ham for different reasons. As a consequence, your question of "why would he choose Southampton over West Ham"was redundant. Happy to clear that up.
  3. I'm beginning to wonder if you've actually read anything I've written. Or indeed anything you have. I didn't say Rob Green would come here over other clubs. I didn't say he'd only go to "a Liverpool or a Tottenham". You did. I didn't say Southampton are bigger than Fulham or Sunderland. I didn't actually say anything about our prospects of signing Rob Green, one way or the other. So what exactly are you trying to prove me wrong about? My only opinion was that he was better than our current keeper. I'm really struggling to wonder how you've tried to twist it to this new way of thinking.
  4. My Sunday league side had been playing football together for around 15 years before we hung up our boots a few years ago. How far do you think we'd have got? Maybe the finals?
  5. What? Where have I suggested that? In fact, what are you going on about? I just said he wanted out of West Ham. I never said he'd definitely come to us. I certainly never said he'd only go to "a Liverpool or a Tottenham". I've no idea where you're going with this now.
  6. Good one. Don't like the answer so revert to sarcasm. Sorry it flies in the face of your otherwise stoneclad argument, but there we go.
  7. As others have said before me, but I've heard the same. He had a bit of a bust up with the club management and wants out. If true (and plenty seem to think it is) it makes the reasons you list a bit redundant.
  8. Really? I'd never heard that before. Ever.
  9. Well, most importantly you're definitely missing something: he wants out of West Ham, come what may. So that's not an option. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/teams/west-ham/9308831/Goalkeeper-Robert-Green-leaving-West-Ham-this-summer.html Your other opinions are subjective but I disagree with all of them, aside from Friedel and even then only on a basis of age. You yourself said he would go to a "Liverpool or Tottenham"; I don't quite classify Fulham or Sunderland in that bracket, do you really?
  10. You'd have to ask who, though. Liverpool: Reina Spurs: Friedel Villa: Given Everton: Howard Newcastle: Krul I can't think of any of those clubs who would look to get rid of their keeper in favour of Rob Green. Who am I missing?
  11. Why not? What is our budget on weekly wages for players, now we are in the Premier League and (supposedly) with intentions of qualifying for Europe?
  12. Ask which award the players most want to win. Its the PFA award, because it comes from their peers. It may not be hugely scientific but it comes from a source who actually play games against the people they are voting for, and therefore it has an entirely unique aspect to it.
  13. I think he was just again being an argumentative nerd, just for the sake of it. Once again by blundering into a conversation without actually fully understanding what it was about.
  14. Please don't go all MLG. Mine was a response to a direct question of "what does Green have that Davis doesn't". As an answer to that, its irrefutably correct. It wasn't intended as a complete overview of both players' careers or abilities; just a very quick reference point as to why its more likely I'd choose Green ahead of Davis right now.
  15. Yet again you miss the point in a continuous effort to appear contrary. Question: What has Rob Green got that Kelvin Davis hasn't? Me: Several England caps and several years of Premier Leagu experience including being voted in the PFA PL team of the year. You: No, no, no, that doesn't make any sense! KD won the Championship PFA team of the year last year. Your argument has some merit. Just not to the particular question asked. Which was, I repeat, "what does Rob Green have that Kelvin Davis doesn't". Give an opinion for once, I just asked this of Greenridge. If we had neither Rob green nor Kelvin Davis on our books and could only sign one, who would you sign? Can you answer that one?
  16. For one year, KD attracted more votes for keeper of the year than RG. Do you know how many by? I don't. If it was a fairly close vote, then you could almost say they had about an even season, perhaps slightly skewed towards Kelvin. But we don't know that. In any case; KD's previous history at top level is thoroughly dismal. Relegation with Sunderland for the 1 year he was there, and according to club and fans he had a shocker. That's all the experience he has at this level. Rob Green has a few more seasons in the top league, and has done enough to play for his national team for a number of years. He is also some 4 years or so younger. Are you saying, if we had neither keeper on our books and could only sign one, that you would sign Davis over Green?
  17. We would lose every game and probably not score a goal.
  18. Do you ever add anything to anything but contradiction? And yet you never seem to offer an opinion of your own. I provided an example of Rob Green being recognised by his peers at the highest league level. It was in response to a question of "what does Rob Green offer than Kelvin Davis doesn't". Was what I provided factually incorrect?
  19. Several years of Premier League experience, including being voted in the PFA Premier League team of the year. Appearing for his country 12 times. If Green isn't a step above what we already have then I can dread to think what the expectation level is amongst some of our fans.
  20. I think you (and others on this thread) have brought up some very valid issues which, quite frankly, wouldn't normally be brought to the attention of most supporters. I'll happily say that my opinion has been reversed since initially reading through (and posting on) this thread. At first glance it seemed the club weren't doing too much wrong. And, to be fair, I still don't think they are doing THAT much wrong. But, once again, the club have completely let themselves down by a lack of dialogue and some poor PR. As you rightly say, if there were major changes to be made then its only right that those changes could and should have been made public well in advance. From comments heard on here; its obviously a disgrace if headsets and radios are provided that consistently don't work. So hopefully that is something that will be addressed. The issues of pricing etc, well that is very subjective but after seeing the prices other PL clubs I'm concerned that ours are very much in the highest bracket. But then we don't know the full facts with that table (with respect to enabler tickets etc) so its unfair to comment on that. In any case, its a little sad that a lack of dialogue has let SFC down; will they ever learn the art of customer service?! I somehow doubt they don't know and don't care too much, unfortunately. And if what you say is right; that they attached the name of the Saints Disabled Association without real full input, then that's plainly not right.
  21. Rob Green is a better keeper than Kelvin Davis.
  22. Er, no. Read the last line:
  23. Well perhaps that's good marketing strategy if they shift a majority of away shirts in the UK and their foray into the Asian market sells a majority of red home shirts. And I mentioned red to point out that its not the same as a Saints fan being expected to buy a blue home shirt; what with connotations with local rivals.
