  1. This isn't exactly true. Yes, the club banned Nick from having an ST last year, and that was a stupid and unneccessary decision. This season, even Nick himself doesn't know if he can have an ST or not. He hasn't tried to buy one, and apparently won't until the club come forward and let him know that he can officially have one. The club haven't done this, but nor have they said they won't let him have one. Until he actually tries to by a season ticket then no-one knows if there is indeed a continued ban.
  2. Until it actually impacts the club, and until it looks like we're struggling to buy players, I'll remain disinterested by talk of how much Cortese earns. £650K per year is peanuts compared to some players' salaries in this division. Even if he halved his salary, what is £300K going to get us in the transfer market? We've had a £3M+ bid accepted this summer, so I don't think money is a problem. Also, it's a good idea to check the facts before making an accusation that Cortese did this after Markus died, and without his consent. The accounts in question are up to the end of June 2010.
  3. You'd have thought they could have given Steve Williams and Peter Osgood the same shirts as everyone else.
  4. He could yet become the 21st century's Frankie Bennett, if he works hard enough.
  5. Playing against Birmingham, and the chorus of "Small town in Villa, you're just a small town in Villa" went up. I think that signalled the end of my Northam days. Apparently it was also repeated when playing against Man United with "Small town in City.....".
  6. "We're by far the greatest team the world has ever seen." We really aren't.
  7. And the cost of an envelope, of course. I want my 6p Cortese, damn you!
  8. It's freepost.
  9. That's your opinion, but ultimately completely irrelevant as it's what Chamberlain wants that is driving this. He has stated that he wants to emulate Walcott and Bale. Both of them moved to big clubs. Neither of them were loaned out at any stage. Both of them took a while to break through into the side to the first team. Both have made a significant impact since they did. That is EXACTLY what Chamberlain sees himself doing. His problem here is that he is not as in in-demand as Bale and Walcott were; tehre was a clamour to get their signatures so we could get a great deal for them. That's not happening right now, so Chamberlain is trying to invigorate interest himself. I think the price tag is putting a lot of clubs off, and there is a huge disparity between what he is worth to another club to buy him and the potential value he could be to us in a year or two. I think it would be best for Saints if he stayed for another year, but not necessarily for the player if he can engineer a move to a club of his choice.
  10. Has it been released what number he'll be given yet?
  11. Considering we had the Billy Sharp episode fall through I'm not sure Adkins would agree with you. Add a striker and I think that'll be it.
  12. If (big if) the Tunisian lad is about to be unveiled, then that's a massive hats off to the club. Both young, and very highly rated, as with Jack Cork. Add in a new striker and it would be a very good summer for transfers (even if AOC does go).
  13. That logo looks worse and worse the more I see it.
  14. Good work woody, sir.
  15. Yep, he's got a ridiculous shot alright. Odds on to take you out in Row Z 9 times out of 10.
  16. So there we have it; the system is much more open to abuse than last year. Brilliant work SFC. And now some poor bastard has to work through making 12,000 phone calls! Well done indeed.
  17. Someone has updated his wiki page to say he's signed for us. Yes, I know, it's Wikipedia. About as reliable as, well, something pretty unreliable.
  18. To the knuckle-dragging elite, I'm not sure which is considered worse; the fact that he's probably not gay, or that he used to play for a rival team. It's an absolutely senseless mindset that we can have players like Crouch and Chamberlain respected in one way, while Taylor, Fuller etc get derided for previously playing for the same team (they've got no other formal ties with the city either). So small minded.
  19. You may find it boring; I'd suggest Umbro are enjoying an enormous amount of revenues right now for basing their entire product range on previous (old) kits.
  20. Brilliant. So for all the hoop-jumping fans have been made to go through to avoid the possibility of abuse of the system, we're quite possibly in a worse position than last year? Hats off to SFC; you couldn't make it up.
  21. Oh, I knew there was a certain level of stupidity, absolutely. I just didn't think there were people whose knuckles dragged so low that they'd be prepared to give up £500 of hard spent cash and refuse to enjoy a pasttime they clearly enjoy just because the club have bought a very good footballer.
  22. Alan McLoughlin
  23. Dear God, I didn't think we had fans this thick.
  24. IMO you've just described two players who are completely inadequate as backup. Holmes has consistently proved that he is made of glass. Great on his day, but has been injured for more than half his career. Can't really be relied upon just yet. And Forte, well the jury is still out but from the times I've seen him play I just don't rate him as good enough, I think it was a rather strange signing. I'd love to have Taylor on board, he's a class player and would absolutely improve the side immeasurably. Him on the left and Lallana on the right would work well, assuming AOC does the offski.
  25. It's a well researched piece; we're interested in Boa Morte or Andy Roberts from Huddersfield. It takes 10 seconds to google it and find out his name is really Gary, lads.
