So sacking Jones now is even too late for that to happen. God knows who we bring in but I'd take anyone now. Caretaker until the season ends. We're going to have to beat some big teams if we want to stay up and we can't even beat the smaller ones. Not just "can't beat the smaller teams" but get royally bum loved by them. No idea, clueless. We're playing players that have previously been loaned out for being shit, a previously 4th choice CM in Diallo that has never showed much competence, a right back we got for pittance that was previously no good for Villa, a GK who has basically been shit all season, an attacker who should be in a two or not playing at all, and a young winger that has no end product. Is it any wonder we are going down. Pathetic. Jones out. But if not he needs to see our flaws. Get McCarthy or Caballero in. Never play Bednarek or Lyanco. Stop playing Diallo and Moi and have Edozie as an off the bench option. Oh, and stop trying to pretend JWP is an attacking genius. Stick him back in the two with Lavia. Our team should be something like: McCarthy/Cab KWP/Perraud 2 of ABK/DCC/Salisu JWP/Lavia Alcarez Suleman/Orsic Onuachu With others as squad filler. Do that and we may have a chance IMO.

Hasenhuttl truly was "better the devil you know". His time was up for sure (should have gone in the summer) but I still think he'd have done better than this clown. Shocking managerial appointment up there with Sturrock, another lower league manager that wasn't cut out for the big league.

We are going down, I can accept that, but even though we have a Championship manager already I do not want this bloke anywhere near my team next season. Sack him now or in the summer but he has to go before our Championship season begins. Give a new manager most of the summer to mold his own team out of what's left post-relegation a la Kompany and we have a chance of going back up. But for now we put up with Jones and his awful decision making.

I’m just trying to gauge the current feeling about this season (league not cup). I still believe that we’re heading down, it’s just a feeling I’ve had all season, and despite recent signings (which I think will give us half a chance) the lack of 3 weak teams this season could be our undoing and we’ve wasted a lot of points already. So a simple vote… how do you see it ending?

I’m inclined to agree, and baby steps aren’t enough now, but a strong Brentford side at home coupled with what we can only assume will be a rubbish Saints starting line up… I’d take a draw here to keep us in touching distance with those above us. Then PO and KS can bed in allowing us to hopefully start beating teams to come. (Wishful thinking perhaps!) A surprise win tomorrow though… that will be massive.

We’ve signed one of the fastest players in the world, one of the tallest players in the world, brought in experience, brought in another talented youngster in a CM position for which our options were limited and sourced cheap but reasonable right back cover. We also brought Bednarek back who, whilst iffy, does provide us with extra CB cover should the worst injury crisis occur. That’s a pretty good window for me, and SR have at least given us a chance. My worries are that we are still reliant on a young keeper that has yet to shine (whilst Forest brought in Navas as cover for Henderson for example), we didn’t sign a DM which could spell trouble if Lavia has another spell out, and… oh yeah… we still have Jones as manager. I just hope and pray the new lads settle in fast, our key players can stay fit, and that Jones can stop naming shit line ups and formations, stick with the best solution of 4231 (or possible 4141/41221) and that we can get a few league wins on the board before it is too late. Try and hit 30 points with 6 games or so left and we have a chance.

Up early for work so I hope to see good things in the morning with KS and PO. A late loan for a decent keeper would add the cherry. All that topped off with sprinkles of another DM and we’re into meat-beating territory.

We have 3 good CBs in DCC, ABK and Salisu and only then should we even contemplate 3 at the back, probably only against stronger opposition. But when 2 of the 3 CBs are Bednarek and Lyanco, and when we’ve been playing well with the 4231 formation, AND when we were 1 nil down from the first leg, it was a bloody shocking decision. That’s all on Jones. Stick to 4231, stop playing Bednarek, Lyanco, Diallo, AMN and anyone else useless and we have a shot at survival.

Sadly game was over a long time ago. We have the makings of a top first XI but there are some iffy squad players. Keep everyone fit that would be in the first XI, back to 4231 and we could do things. But not tonight.

I never thought I'd say it but I wish McCarthy a speeeeeedy recovery. I think he's back in training. I've seen nothing of Bazunu this season that makes me confident in him.

I’ll take him scoring terrible hattricks for the rest of the season. Just as I’d take us winning terrible games of football as long as it keeps us up.
