Call Big Sam. It's his time now. 😛

Maybe the game will be declared null and void because of all the inflatable fishes.

I nearly went. Instead I met up with a mate and played a few games of snooker. Twas a better use of my time it seems.

Is this rock bottom or is it just the start?
-
Well fuck. Ignore that.
-
Theo fucking Walcott. Tell me he'd be our saviour at one point this season and I'd have told you to fuck off. Madness. Shows there is no substitute for experience though.
-
Redmond loves playing against a lower league tea... oh.

Come on Saints. That clock is ticking quickly....
-
They invented the 💩 emoji for this performance.

34 years supporting Saints and I've never seen us so incompetent and that's saying something.

Turned on ITV4. Penalty, goal. Turned it off.

Anybody fancy a go at being manager? Maybe rotate it week by week, a different fan taking the job each week. Couldn't be worse than what we're doing at the moment. Most of us seem to be able to see what the club can't.

Heart wants him to stay for the Promotion push, head says he’s gone, and for much less money than we’d have got last summer. He’s still a £40-50 million player to the right team, he’s fit, rarely misses a game, versatile, in his prime and is good for some goals. Newcastle would be perfect for him… …however he seems very much a local loving lad, and I doubt he’d want to uproot that far. Brighton? Probably couldn’t afford him, so really it’d be a London club. I hate to say it but Spurs seem a likely candidate. Keeping him would be huge though, especially in a season where we’d most likely lose Lavia too. I’d love to see him wind up some Championship bods.

I wish someone would put a video of these, besides his decent enough game against Chelsea a fortnight ago I really don’t remember any.

4231 GK - McCarthy/Willy RB - KWP CB - ABK CB - Salisu/DCC LB - Perraud CM - JWP CM - Lavia AML - Sulemana AMC - Alcaraz AMR - SArmstrong Str - Onuachu/Adams. Bar a few positions where you have a couple of players who are interchangeable that's what I think our strongest formation/first team could look like excluding long term injury Tino. I prefer Adams in a 2 up front so would stick with Paul really but otherwise, if we could get that team together in that shape, I think we could be talking. Baffling how many managers can't see it. They must see something in training that we don't to keep picking the likes of Lyanco, AMN, Diallo, AArmstrong (although at times has been ok), Bednarek, Moi etc.

Biggest disappointment for me has to be Aribo. Was expecting a lot, lot more than the lazy nothingness he has delivered. Bazunu is definitely on the list for worse signing of the season, and in fact in terms of impact for the club it's likely he'd win worst signing seeing as how his position is specialist and he's repeatedly been awful. Best signings have been ABK and Lavia but both have had injury issues. Alcaraz looks promising and Edozie may turn into a good player eventually. The rest I reserve judgement on, but DCC and Orsic's situations are baffling. We need a new manager in the summer to come in quick, decide who they want to keep and ship the rest out. We would need 100 per cent committed players not people sitting on their contracts whilst contributing zilch. The best chance of promotion is the season after relegation. Following seasons see it harder and harder to achieve.

Relegation - What two teams do we take with us
SNSUN replied to Lee On Solent Saint's topic in The Saints
I really, really want to see Everton come down with us and Bournemouth. I don’t care if they’re champions next season, it will hugely take the heat off us in the summer when a “massive” (in the media’s eyes) club gets relegated. Sadly, as I suspected we should have done before appointing Jones, they brought in Dyche and will probably just be ok. I still think Forest may drop with us and Bournemouth but Leeds Should be worried. -
Put all our goalkeeping eggs in a young Bazunu-shaped basket and were found out.

Point 1) it's not nothing. It's 6 points, almost 7 if you factor in goal difference. In 14 games. That's a hell of a run we'd need to go on. Even Leeds, that Leeds we lost to today, are 4 points clear of us with a much better goal difference. Huge at this stage of the season, especially with a team that can't remember how to string wins together. Point 2) Leeds in the first safety spot are, as I said, 4 clear with a way better goal difference AND a renewed confidence. And new manager. Yes A point would have kept us in this battle for a little while longer but it wouldn't have done us huge favours long term towards survival, more it would have kept Leeds close. More dragging them down with us. A win was imperative. Today's game was exactly the situation in which the phrase "6 pointer" was coined. Point 3) There's the rub. We've looked barely able to draw against teams all season let alone beat them. We lost to a 10 man Wolves when leading, we lost today to a team one place above us. We stank the place out against Forest. Shit we only scraped past Everton because of JWP and no new manager bounce for them. I appreciate we are not mathematically down but we need a comeback on the scale of Jesus Effing Christ coming back from the dead to stay up from here. Believe what you wish but IMO Don't do it to yourself. The sooner you accept relegation the more comfortable the rest of this season will become. I would love to have the faith of you guys that still believe but I feel you're letting yourselves in for crushing disappointment.

We are down. If we somehow manage to get back into this and get to the last day, playing Liverpool, half our fanbase will have heart attacks. It's not worth it. Plan for the Championship and save your sanity.
-
So relegation. All in agreement?
-
Weirdly I'm almost like Thank Fuck for that. I'm not sure I could've taken another 3 months of "can we survive" only to go down on the last day of the season or something. We've been relegation fodder for years. We've done a Sunderland.
-
Another point for them. If it's possible to pin relegation on one specific result, the capitulation vs Wolves may be it. Although you would then have to ignore the clusterfuck of the rest of the season. Still we could be on 21 points at the end of the day. Drags everyone back into it big time.
-
He's brave to take it on but he has my support. Leeds is a must win so he's already under immense pressure. I just hope that, survival or drop, we don't make the mistakes we've made before with Wigley and Gray that he'll be anything other than a short term stop gap. Get to the summer then reassess the situation. It did cross my mind that, while we probably couldn't afford him, if Selles respects Benitez most as manager then maybe bringing him in as DofF wouldn't be such a bad idea...

Draw not good enough. We’re simply running out of games and this is a six pointer and a must win. It’s Leeds, one of the weakest teams in the division. No more baby steps, we need to string wins together and not only does a win propel us right back into it, but it condemns an immediate rival to defeat AND will make our other relegation rivals, most who I’m sure had us as “Saints are down, two spots left” a few weeks ago, sit up and take notice. Can we do it? Yes, but our attack needs to start scoring goals from open play. Will we do it? Well it is Elland Road and we don’t have a great record there. Please put round pegs in round holes Ruben. Personally I think we’ll get a draw here, which won’t be enough come May. I hope I’m wrong.
