  1. What's Ulloa's record in September?
  2. Everton's defence is poor this year. While I do think their squad is better than ours, I still don't think they're quite at the level they were last season. Which opens the door for us. As for Utd, they're still an unbalanced mish mash of assorted transfers and inexperienced youth. Their right side is prime for attacking, I'd love to see Mané have at it. Peculiarly though, I do think they're stronger offensively than last year, and will finish above us. As will Chelsea, City, Arsenal, Spurs and I hate to say it, Liverpool. 7th to 10th is achievable though, unless a side above us implode. (Liverpool, I'm looking at you.) Still a long way to go though.
  3. Saints vs Brizzle was an evening game, so I'm assuming that picture was from a previous match.
  4. I too was unusually downbeat about this signing, despite me touting him in previous HCDAJFU threads, but it was more to do with it being a loan than a full transfer, especially with the money we'd accrued over the summer. That, plus there were hardly raving reviews from Villa fans, who from memory considered Bertrand bang average. We're seeing the best of Bertrand, and the deal now appears to be working for us. He's experienced, decent going forward as well as defending, and perhaps most importantly gets on with Corky! (Must keep Cork!) He's also won something most of our players never will. The loan is good because either Targett is ready next summer and we can let Bertrand go back to Chelsea, or sign him up for a decent fee and have a very strong left back situation. In all this turned out to be a very clever transfer by the management.

Anyone else think Steve Coppell looks a bit like Ralph Krueger? No? Just me then.

    Best goal?

Jagielka's was important as it rescued a point in an important game, and initially I thought it was the better goal (than Pelle's), but after seeing Pelle's on telly (as oppose to seeing it live) I think his was the better strike. Better than Clyne's too IMO. I did rate Osvaldo's goal last season though, a touch of class that we saw all too little of from him.
  7. I have you know I was captain of my high school 4th XI dontchaknow! (Which was made up of choirboys, people that had never played football before, overweight people, people that had no interest in football, a goalkeeper that had no gloves and an American annoyed that he couldn't use his hands. We lost 10-1 in our one and only match, although the coach of the opposition came up to me afterwards and said I was our best player. )

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/eng_div_2/8270971.stm There was a big walk up so it took ages to get in. I see Trotman who played for us that day is now at Bristol Rovers.
  9. Praise indeed from an ex-Skate, if the rumours are true.
  10. He'd be useless in there TBF! £1.2 million though for being as good at football as I am. Lucky man.
  11. Liverpool will beat WBA IMO and I'm predicting a draw at best against Spurs but of course it's nice to dream. Being second is great but as long as we can remain in the top 6 for a while it'll be good for morale whilst giving us a decent platform to build on.
  12. What was Tommy's wage with us? I just wonder whether the lucky blighter need ever work again had he saved wisely...

My first SMS game ever. Chris Lines I think got the winner.

They should never have sold their best player... ...says no Saints fan ever.
  15. SOunds good, if I were there I'd happily whip my snake out.
  16. Next 3 games are Spurs, Sunderland and Stoke. 7-9 points would maintain our excellent start to the season, 5/6 would be good, 4 or fewer would be poor. As much as I hate saying it I'd take defeat at Spurs if it meant beating both Sunderland and Stoke but I hope we're good enough to get 7 points.
  17. And we drew 0-0 with WBA not 1-1. Unless I'm reading it wrong...
  18. If it happens, I will divorce my wife and marry one of them.
  19. I WAS joking...
  20. I think even Burnley fans can see that sadly. Not enough quality.
  21. Am I reading that right? Apparently we used to have Joe Allen on the books and Clyne is on loan to us. :-)
  22. For the team. team, team, team. It's the word I've noticed him say a lot.

    MOTD

I was actually surprised we were on before the North London derby.

    Bertrand

Loved how he ran over to Cork after scoring yesterday. Definitely need to keep both.
