  1. Well that explains why the Townsend stories didn't really surface this window.
  2. Again, that's not what I said, but never mind. Probably best to move on.
  3. You seem to have ignored the pertinent question that I asked.
  4. Agree I doubt it.
  5. Yes, but we are supposed to be grateful that he is still with us and hasn't bunked off to another club
  6. Oh come on Batman, don't poo poo everything all the time.
  7. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-3224061/Former-Borussia-Dortmund-boss-Jurgen-Klopp-admits-job-football-not-absolute-club.html
  8. http://www.express.co.uk/sport/football/603225/Nathaniel-Clyne-Stockwell-Liverpool-England-stardom-Euro-2016-Premier-League Guess it's nice that we get a mention in passing.
  9. Although Charlton has played more minutes, both he and Rooney have 106 appearances in 12 years. But it is, as you say, different eras and as such, is impossible to compare. So actually who scored against who, is somewhat moot. The point really was, more that Rooney is often gets put down for all the friendlies etc, but it isn't quite so. Having said that, some of the qualifiers are no different in practice than friendlies.
  10. Out there but it might be a little wrong, as Friendly goals... 2 vs Portugal 1 vs Soviet Union 1 vs Italy 3 vs USA (which we won 8-1) 1 vs Sweden 3 vs Mexico (which we won 8-0) 1 vs Czech 1 vs East Germany 3 vs Switzerland (which we won 8-10 1 vs Portugal 1 vs USA (this time beating them 10-0) 1 vs Austria 1 vs Yugoslavia 1 vs Sweden 1 vs Colombia 22, but then if you include the Home Championship (excluding those in 1966/67 and 67/68 that counted as Euro Qualifiers) as these were friendlies.....there were 5 goals vs Scotland, 5 vs Northern Ireland and 3 vs Wales....so you might consider that he scored 35 goals in Friendlies. He scored 5 in the 1962 WC Qualification, all against the mighty Luxembourg In the World Cup Finals, he scored 1 vs Argentina in 1962, 1 vs Mexico in 1966 and 2 vs Portugal in 1966 He scored 4 in the 1968 Euro Qualifiers - 2 vs Wales and 1 vs Northern Ireland and 1 vs Spain In the 1968 Euro Finals, he scored 1 vs the Soviet Union. So that would be for Charlton Friendlies - 35 Qualifiers - 9 European - 1 World Cup - 4
  11. Looking at some facts.... Friendlies - Rooney 14 goals, Charlton 32 Qualifiers - Rooney 28 goals, Charlton 12 European - Rooney 6 goals, Charlton 1 World Cup - Rooney 1 goal, Charlton 4
  12. Well, I might tut, sigh, shake my head. Probably moan to my neighbours. I have never booed a Saints player and I am not going to start doing so now.
  13. Cos he doesn't use his right foot.
  14. I caught 5 minutes here and there, and it was so boring that I went back to the cricket even though I know we have no chance at all of winning it. Or rather, little chance of winning, but if we do, it will be damn exciting.
  15. I stand to be corrected, but this seems to be the problem. Undoubtedly there are many that should be treated as refugees but they are swamped by those that aren't and who masquerade as refugees but are just economic migrants. (and isn't anyone determined to get to the rich north/west European countries an economic migrant, having passed through the first county of safety (which isn't Turkey)?). Just because they are Syrian, it doesn't mean that they are refugees. And then all the others from other countries like Bangladesh and Burma. Half of Africa at Calais. We already have 8 million non UK born people. What British is, is changing very quickly into something I neither recognise nor really want.
  16. I'm more than happy to help out refugees if they return home when it is safe. But they become like any other migrant and become permanent. Migrants should go home as well after a set period of years. Give some others a chance. But I do find there is a huge amount of double standards going on. Where was the clamour to take in millions of Tutsis when the Hutus started butchering them. And butcher them they did, on a scale that has possibly never been seen before - about 1 million of them in less than 3 months. That they didn't turn up on our doorstep seems to be the main difference. One thing that I found interesting. The horrific lorry that had 71 people dead in the back - 59 were men.
  17. While I have to say that I have no sympathy for Lovren what so ever, there is no need for death threats, and no need to post **** on his wife's instagram after he closed his.
  18. What???? Surely managers of national teams don't go on club form. Doesn't the French manager know that Morgan plays for Man Utd, the biggest club in the world, and Cabaye for some (almost) provincial team?
  19. Ronald definitely better looking there than Irwin.
  20. Agree. And whilst Woy is still in charge, I don't have any intention to go out of my way to watch England play. Boring, and life's too short to watch boring footie being managed by a dinosaur.
  21. Danny Blind's first game - would be surprised if he gets the chop quite so soon after taking over.
  22. Forren puts Norway 1 up against Bulgaria
  23. Love the comment - "little club with with ideas above their station". Oh the irony. Ignoring the rather unattractive arrogance of it, Spurs find themselves in a strange position. They are one of the biggest clubs in Europe and in most leagues, their financial position would mean that they would/should have the resources to qualify for the CL every year. But unlike other leagues, there are 5 other clubs that are far bigger than them. So what is their station? 5th or more likely 6th. They refuse to accept that, and maybe their recent few finishes of 4th has exacerbated over inflated expectations. I know that they like to think that they are the equals to their neighbours, but really, they are closer in stature to West Ham than Arsenal. As for not them releasing, it would be good for us little clubs to actually come together and say what went on. I think it safe to say that both us and WBA are not on the best of terms with Spurs. It might be petty and undignified, but Spurs should be held to account if they have been playing dirty. Certainly they don't come out of this very well.
