Is it any different than what happened at Chelsea? Might be similar (but the reverse when considering age) with Valdes going to Liverpool.

I can't agree with this or your view that it was poorly chosen words by Koeman. He stated that he wanted to go, and Koeman said that that was fine and that if he was still here come deadline day, then things would be looked at again. Up until then, there was no point giving the reserve spot to someone who didn't plan to be here come 1st Sept. I can see nothing wrong with that. He wasn't excluded from the club, was training as per usual, just not considered for selection due to HIS stance. Now that he is still with us, unless he goes out before the loan window closes, it will be interesting to see whether he makes the bench over KD and PG. It should be remembered that he has a contract with the club, and the club have not broken that at all and it is Boruc who wanted to rip it up.

Southampton buck the trend and are the biggest transfer window earners!

Who is this "we"? You clearly aren't Saints. -

Great examples. We scraped a last minute draw at OT when we probably should have won (or at least could have) and we lost against Cardiff at home. -

Well to a certain extent, I can understand that there is little point trying to second guess what the opposition are doing, especially when you believe that you will be controlling the game and they will be singing to your tune. Possession means that you are calling the shots, even though (and a classic example was Villa at home) it doesn't mean that you will score and win the game. However, I would say that it is over confidence and somewhat foolhardy. This no Plan B - is that really the case? It is oft mentioned but how true is/was it? Certainly with us, the substitutions used were man for man, and no change in formation. It was still the relentless attack attack attack. WBA - 90 Sunderland - 89 Man Utd - 89 Swansea - 90 4 goals scored that got us either a draw or win in the last couple of minutes. Not saying that he didn't have an alternative plan, more that if he didn't, then on these occasions it wasn't needed. -
...but, would he expect to walk in and automatically be #1 replacing Dusan Kuciak between the sticks, or would he go as a #2 and work to see who was best?

Fair enough really. Especially if he is a supporter.

It depends. If the smaller teams sit very deep with a back 5 or more, then we always seemed to struggle to get behind them and score. -
Seem to recall a figure of £45k being bandied about
-
Rule is that you are allowed a max of 17 non home grown.
-
You forgot to add the 163k a month that Herr Cortese paid himself.
-
Net or gross? The devil is in the detail.

http://www.financialfairplay.co.uk/financial-fair-play-explained.php Weren't we around the £52m mark last season. It is an aspect that has not really been taken into account re the player sales. What were Lambert and Lallana on - £40k per week? Lovren couldn't have been far behind. Gaston and Osvaldo on £60k per week. So let's say that £12.5m a year and add Cortese into the mix and that's a third of the permitted wages gone. It might all be conjecture, as the wages aren't known nor are the details of their contracts. What it does do though, is reinforce the difference between them and us.

Fox Sport reckon we are losers in the transfer window

Another stunning piece of bullshït....http://www.soccersouls.com/2014/09/04/premier-league-transfers-manchster-united-hull-city-the-big-winners-arsenal-southampton-the-losers-of-transfer-deadline-day/....which easily out does Fox for being complete and utter bollyhocks. Seems that Saints supporters have left the feeling be known in the comments section. -
I have said before, that I am ok with the Club having told white lies. You aren't exactly going to say that all players are available are you? Do that, and you weaken your bargaining position and are unlikely to get as high a fee as possible.

Gaston Ramiez to Hull on Season Long Loan - Official

Sevilla or Hull?? I imagine Sevilla didn't offer anywhere near the same amount as Hull. I am fascinated to see how he does. -

Never said it was an issue. Just found it strange that he never played 4 full games in a row. Anything wrong with that? -

Haha. Missed that one. I presume in all the excitement he might have forgotten to use his sockpuppet when disagreeing with himself. So who is the sockpuppet?

I wouldn't take much notice. These "journalists" have preconceived ideas and go with it. It's trite and unimaginative and reinforced by the company that we are included with. Chelsea, United, Barcelona, Dortmund, Atletico, Monaco, Real, Juve and Milan. Fairly august company to be mingling with and they say there is no such thing as bad publicity!!!!! The same article says United were winners, starting off by saying that they have failed to strengthen in key areas but signed some classy players and that they were one CB short of a perfect summer. I am not sure you will find anyone in this country who would agree with that. What they also haven;t mentioned is that they signed only left sided players, so they are going to have a decent left side!! And also, Rojo, will be interesting to see if he ever gets a work permit!! -

It was me who brought it up. As for AL Last season.... games 7, 8, 9 & 10 he did 90 minutes (and game 6 he did 86 and game 11 he did 84) games 31, 32, 33, 34, 35 he did the full 90 with game 36 only managing 86. This was on the back of playing the full 90 in game 23, 24, 25, 26 (save for 2 minutes), 27, 28 and 29 In 2012/13, he suffered a knee injury and wasn't overly used after that. However, before hand, he played the full 90 in games 1-15 save for only 78 minutes in game 3. So absolutely no comparison to Gaston. (This is just for league games). -

Granted but I would class them the same if looking at from a financial angle. Maybe combined they would equal Gaston by himself but the principle is ultimately the same. However the signing in the first place wasn't. Maybe with Barnard and Forte, they were signed with the expectation that we wouldn't get back to back promotions. Sharp - that's the one which I have never really understood. We sign him to help get promotion, while we were looking like getting it, and when that comes to fruition, we never play him. I guess sometimes you have to take these hits to get to the promised land, and when you are there, you have to accept that you are going to have some/many players that are surplus to requirement. But Gaston, he was signed for different reasons. -

Would you have both Ben Arfa and Gaston on the pitch at the same time?? It's all well and good Bruce signing all these players, but fitting them in is somewhat harder. -
Our 25 man squad from last year (ie excluding U21) and Yes/No to being Homegrown. as submitted to PL http://www.premierleague.com/content/dam/premierleague/site-content/News/publications/squad-lists/Premier-League-Squad-Lists-January-2014.pdf The majority don't seem to have a full compliment of 25, and while we had the smallest, the next smallest with 19 was Liverpool and they did OK last season. 1 Boruc, Artur No 2 Clyne, Nathaniel Edwin Yes 3 Cork, Jack Frank Porteous Yes 4 Davis, Kelvin Geoffery Yes 5 Davis, Steven Yes 6 Do Prado Raymundo, Guilherme No 7 Fonte, Jose Miguel No 8 Fox, Daniel Yes 9 Hooiveld, Jos No 10 Lallana, Adam David Yes 11 Lambert, Rickie Lee Yes 12 Lovren, Dejan No 13 Ramirez Pereyra, Gaston Exequiel No 14 Rodriguez, Jay Enriqus Yes 15 Schneiderlin, Morgan Yes 16 Wanyama, Victor No 17 Yoshida, Maya No 18 Forte, Jonathan Ronald James Yes With incomers being Forster Bertrand Alderweireld Tadic Mané Long Pelle and Mayuka's loan ending. So from the 25 - we are the same number 18. The main difference seems to be the loss of two U21 in Shaw and Chambers. Shows last season how good the U21s were. This year those likely and/or possibles Gallagher Gazza Isgrove McQueen Reed Targett JWP There maybe others that have been "unfairly" left out I do agree with Saint IQ when he says "Rather have a smaller squad where every player is happy and can be relied upon rather than a larger one with liabilities as back up (Hooiveld, Fox etc.)" so long as the squad isn't too small.

Looking at some of their forums, most seem to have him starting on the bench.
