I've always thought it was the purchase of Schneiderlin that tipped us into administration. It was a lot of money that it turned out we couldn't afford.

I doubt we shall ever recover to those levels which were based on unsustainable borrowing. It was never real growth.

That's always been the situation and is one reason why I don't get enthusiastic when an 'exciting new prospect' is brought into the first team.

There's a difference between 'promised' and 'led to believe' and 'misunderstanding'.

It used to be that the player was entitled to a percentage (10%?) of his transfer fee if he hasn't asked for the transfer. If he hands in a formal request then he forgoes that. There are various lumps of money involved, golden goodbyes, golden hellos, payments to agents, former clubs... and so on. I'm not so sure about modern football.
