I started watching that but I soon had to stop. Please don't twist the knife, it hurts.

That's the least we could hope for.

And the manager...

Does anyone still believe we will be competitive?
Whitey Grandad replied to Frank's cousin's topic in The Saints
We are 5 or 6 players short of a squad as it stands at the moment, and we are short of a manager. There won't be much of a pre-season either. Of course I'm worried. -
Hmm... not very inspiring. A lot of clubs and not much achieved, it would appear.

That's the reality. I have the feeling that his career is effectively over. He may not even get a game in the World Cup and I don't see him getting much playing time with Liverpool next season. I can understand him wanting to go there but I'm struggling to see the logic from Liverpool's point of view. There are a lot of big egos up there who may not take kindly to his arrival.

Losing players is not the end of the world providing they get replaced by equivalent or better.
-
Yes indeed. We've been short of players for over half the season. I cannot see this turning out well.

Booger. I was hoping for Palafrugell again.

Any towels would be better than no towels. They run out in 10 minutes.

"No Planes Hit The Twin Towers" claims ex-CIA agent

From what little I read a couple of days ago it appears that any calculations about aircraft impact did not take into account the effect of the fires caused by the fuel. In these buildings the fuel had an almost unimpeded path over several floors, partly due to the open design of the office spaces which were a characteristic of the building design. -

I started watching it but the commentary shows such a poor understanding of the physics involved that I gave up. -
No thanks, I read what happened to that other bloke.

The local elections are also seen as a protest vote.

How will you be voting on Thursday in the Euro and local elections?

too true for comfort. -

If they're that good these holograms must be all around us now. It would explain a lot. -
It's one of creation's great failures: no 'back' button. No 'pause' or 'fast-forward' either.

Just a couple of points today... The land speed record is over 760mph Planes can fly fast and low but they use more fuel. -

What I find more intriguing is that so many people want to believe in a conspiracy rather than accept the obvious explanation. -

Do you mean acceleration? That would be 9.81 m/s/s of course. What it did have was a lot of ' was 'potential energy' which was dissipated in the collapse and would be manifested as heat and noise. As the collapse progressed downwards the mass progressively increased floor by floor so the crushing forces increased linearly. Have a look at the link I gave earlier and reconsider the numbers. -

If you look at the collapse again you will see that the upper floors crush the lower ones. The upper mass is not 'dispersed mass' in the initial phases of the collapse. Which is heavier, a ton of feathers or a ton of bricks? -

The bottom floors were progressively crushed by the kinetic impact of all the upper floors falling on them. Most of this was not turned to dust until the actual impact. About 200,000 tons of steel were recovered from the debris pile and some of the concrete dust ended up spread across Manhattan. Some numbers to play with: http://www.uwgb.edu/dutchs/pseudosc/911NutPhysics1.HTM -

I'm quite happy (if that's the right word) with the explanation that the fuel from the aircraft started fires on several floors which then weakened the steel-framed structure which then allowed the weight of the floors above to collapse the whole building. The fuel itself would apparently have burned off within a few minutes but the fires continued for another hour or so. Later studies have indicated that a widespread fire extending over three or more floors would have been enough to bring the buildings down. The steel wasn't melted, just softened enough to distort and collapse. The concrete was pulverised during the descent and spread over the city. You won't find stories of paraffin fires causing similar collapses because there have been no comparable incidents.
