  1. Just because he may be eligible to apply for residency, doesn't mean that he has to nor wants to. I may go work abroad but it doesn't mean I have any wish or intention of becoming a resident of that country. He is probably, given the fact that he has played for his country on many, many occasions, a very patriotic guy and taking residency in a foreign country maybe seen by him as unpatriotic.
  2. NO overseas player has a work permit if he changes club or is out of contract. He can only renew it once he is offered an extension of his current contract or offered a contract by another club. The terms by which he was originally given his work permit may well of changed in that period. The rules in which they are handed out have also been tightened in the last 18 months.
  3. With Thomas "fit", we do actually have a proven CH in that position instead of a boy, who probably will never make it. We also have two proper full-backs, instead of make-shift midfielders filling those roles. I actually think our starting 11 is as strong, if not stronger than last season.
  4. They could revoke his residence visa and deport him!
  5. This was one of the questions on the predictions thread: http://saintsweb.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?t=15640 Said Lallana!
  6. Lallana 1 4 6th 4th Round
  7. I have to say that with AP, you actually believe what you are being told, as opposed to the spin, rhetoric and bullshoot of the last few years.
  8. That's usually a beige or ecru type colour with flecks of green, yellow and orange in it, IIRC.
  9. Was that 83% of Full Members or just Registered Users?
  10. Good interview but why can't you find links to this and the match preview on the front page? Don't like this new OS at all!!
  11. 5'9" According to the OS! Hardly a giant.
  12. It has to be love. If it was just a fling, you would have dumped them years ago, the way they've treated you!!
  13. But they wouldn't get the funding/loans in the first place. The reason so many are struggling now is because the banks have tightened the purse strings and if they did away with the points deduction rules, the banks/lenders would be forced to tighten even more, which would in turn, force clubs to live within their means.
  14. Mmmm! Think they're mixing him up with his brother "played centre half." "dominance in the air." I do think he'll have a decent season though and hopefully improve like Gillett and James did last term.
  15. At least we're not Livingston, who have been relegated SL3.
  16. We have also sponsored Simon Gillett and Graeme Murty BTW.
  17. It could be that when they got all of the documentary evidence together, it was apparent that all of the criteria would not be met to get a work permit and instead of applying and awaiting to be turned down, they are looking into going straight to the 'Panel' stage? This would presumably be quicker in the long run.
  18. I'm hoping he lasts at least until the transfer window has closed and we have signed 2 or 3 alternatives. Not holding my breath though.
  19. We had him on a Student visa and when that expired he went back to Ukraine. Ironically he is now a Latvian citizen, which if he had have been then, we would have been able to keep him under EU rules.
  20. http://www.dailyecho.co.uk/sport/4532832.Jaidi_refused_work_permit/ I posted this on the other thread. It seems we haven't actually applied because we know it will be turned down under the present criteria.
  21. Confirmed here: http://www.dailyecho.co.uk/sport/4532832.Jaidi_refused_work_permit/ Also says Thomas is fit for Saturday!!
  22. If it's 16.5K now, probably another 2K between now and KO and 2K away fans, so looking at about 21,000 I reckon.
  23. Finland are in the EU!
  24. He did, but his age and the fact that his country were only a new FIFA nation, at the time of his appeal, went for him. The rules have been tightened considerably in the last couple of years though.
  25. I'd be interested in the terms of Stern John's work permit. Surely he was in a similar boat (metaphorically of course) as RJ?
