  1. Brendan O'Neill once again proving what a provocative and ignorant bellend he is. His opening statement about what BLM is is chock full of the same false claims used by many other people to deride and dismiss the movement.
  2. I think that's a stretch. He certainly has ability and technically is not as bad as many on here have made out, but in reality he's no better than Jack Stephens.
  3. It's been rumoured that he is planning to stage a rally where he will announce his plans to stand again in 2024, instead of attending the inauguration.
  4. Disagree. Plenty of them would have turned out spoiling for a fight regardless. The video footage from the day clearly shows that. When it transpired that the people who they had ostensibly gathered to protect the monuments from had decided not to come, instead of just going home they started fighting with the police instead. Classy. I'm not condoning some of the vandalism that went on. Like I said, there was a minority of idiots ruining things for the majority as there always is. And I'm sure many of the patriots like your veteran friend were genuinely there to peacefully counter protest and were appalled at the behaviour of some of their own 'side'. You are trying to make out that the BLM demonstrators were all there to cause trouble and that the football lads were all virtuous, diligent protectors of the peace. This is blatantly untrue.
  5. Completely wrong. The public BLM movement has existed for a long time. The political organisation currently calling themselves BLM has simply coopted the name and the support it has to boost their profile.
  6. And how did he feel about some of the lads from his own 'side' throwing Nazi salutes at the Cenotaph and one of them pissing on the memorial to PC Keith Palmer? Again, you're rewriting history. You're making it sound like the entire BLM 'mob' were marauding around the streets of London for weeks, defacing every statue and monument they came across, while the police did absolutely nothing, and were only stopped when the brave football lads turned out in force. This narrative is complete horseshit.
  7. This is an astoundingly ignorant rewriting of history. The solidarity protests in London attacted a very small handful of idiots (unfortunately, there are always some whatever the cause) but were overwhelmingly peaceful. The EDL lads or whatever it is they are calling themselves these days organised a counter-protest. Fair enough, that's their right. But when the planned BLM march for that day was cancelled due to fears of violence, they still turned up, mostly just for a day out on the piss and to have a scrap with whoever would fight them. Whatever your beliefs about BLM, Let's not pretend that these knuckle-dragging morons were the good guys.
  8. There was some discussion about it on the Saints v Man U matchday thread. What a horrific incident, and what a lucky escape. Here he explains why it took him so long to get out of the car.
  9. When you send your drunk auntie to represent you, and even Rudy Giuliani tries to get her to tone it down...
  10. Senior Tories all trotting out the "we've only been able to do this because we've left the EU" line today. Unfortunately, and somewhat predictably, it's completely untrue...
  11. I hoped they might try and take the focus off her a bit this season and give more screen time to some other characters, but they've gone the opposite way and made it even more about her. And none of the other characters are much cop anyway. The only slightly interesting one is Giorgiou, but the writers don't even have a clue what to do with her and it's a shameful waste of Michelle Yeoh's talents. The rest of the Discovery crew are just glorified extras. Oh well, S5 of The Expanse starts in a couple of weeks. I recently binge-watched all of Series 1-4 again while I was off work for a bit and everything about it is better than any of the current ST series.
  12. Well it seems my optimism was very much misplaced. What a load of utter shit this season has turned out to be.
  13. So predictable. Even at 2-0 up we never looked comfortable. The HT scoreline flattered us somewhat. Mostly a poor performance all round. Armstrong looked knackered by 70 mins so why did Ralph wait til 89 to replace him? Baffling. The real big difference today was that Utd had someone with the quality of Cavani on the bench, while our 'game-changing' sub was Shane blood Long, who hasn't done anything remotely useful since scoring against Liverpool in the EFL cup semi 4 years ago. It's almost painful watching him these days. Reminds me of Austin's last few months with us where he was so obviously past it and unable to compete.
  14. Should have made that sub sooner and given Diallo a chance to do something. Armstrong ran out of steam some time ago.
  15. Ooh that was a decent effort from Adams.
  16. What was he thinking? He just stood there playing them all onside.
  17. Yes and we've stepped up a gear again since conceding, which is positive to see considering 2-3 years ago we would have just crumbled and probably gone on to lose 4-2.
  18. Yeah and just jogging back afterwards instead of busting a gut to get back and defend. Didn't cover himself in glory there.
  19. Didn't get anywhere near tight enough to Fernandes there. Asking for trouble giving him that kind of space.
  20. Good save Macca.
  21. And was sat in it for quite some time as well.
  22. Djenepo has been very good. Looks threatening every time he gest near their box. I'd love for him to get a good injury-free run and cement his place in the team. He offers so much more than Redmond ever has.
  23. Very few players have ever beaten De Gea at the near post from a FK like that. We're all over them now. What a turnaround from the first 10 minutes.
  24. Outstanding. Take a bow son.
