Hmmm, sounds delicious. I've just made some blackberry vodka using the same, slightly more simple, method as sloe gin; it should be ready in about 5-6 weeks. After the success of the raspberry and blueberry ones I did a while ago, I'm hoping this will be equally as good.

I've just booked tickets for me and my GF to go to Bestival on IOW in september. Normally I try and avoid the bigger festivals (too many people, long walk between carpark/campsite/arena, too much corporate sponsorship, overcharging for drinks/food etc..) but the lineup for Bestival this year is immense with lots of variety for everyone. Have a look for yourself.

Maybe I missed the thread, but I don't ever seem to recall anybody on this forum calling for any Tories to be executed Delldays. You just love those strawmen don't you. And I also want to echo what Viking Warrior said. Some really moronic comments on a thread about somebody who has lost his life prematurely and left a family behind. Some people have no shame.

Why does it seem odd? Maybe he just liked live music. I've been to a few festivals in my time and there are always people from all walks of life and of all ages. The fact that nobody is excluded is one of the great things about them. You just don't like the idea of a senior Tory in his 50s associating himself with thousands of liberal people.

I would immediately discount them as they are awarded by the industry and do not relate to actual public opinion, especially the Brit. I mean, this is the awards council that once gave best British dance act to the f***ing Sugababes for crying out loud. Awards like this mean absolutely nothing and only serve to inflate the egos of those receiving them. But you're right in that the beauty of music is that there is something for everyone. If we all had exactly the same tastes then imagine how bland and boring the world would be.

No, and I am not advocating that it would be. But if you read the rest of my post regarding the mindset that I would be in in that situation given the human instinct, it is not unreasonable to expect that somebody might lash out and become violent if you have broken into their house, and I am arguing that that person's actions should not be considered criminal in those circumstances.

The way I look at it... if you break into somebody's house with the intention of stealing their valuables, the second you cross that threshold you have declared yourself outside of the law IMO, therefore you waive all of your societal rights to be protected by that law which you so blatantly disregard. I had my mountain bike stolen once - came out from where I was working expecting to ride home only to find someone had somehow broken the lock and taken off with it. I was so angry that if I had caught the little c**t in the act I do not know what I would have done to him in all honesty. It is one of the only times in my life I have ever really felt pure rage, and it took me about an hour to calm down. If I caught someone in my house trying to swipe my stuff then I couldn't honestly say that I would remain calm and call the police - that would probably be the last thing on my mind. The human 'fight or flight' instinct would kick in and any injuries the burglar might receive would be down to my diminished responsibility for my actions. In this particular case, at least there is one less thieving scumbag on the streets of Salford now.

It was Gordon Bennett Brown who de-regulated the banking sector in the first place. Had that not happened there would surely have been much stricter controls in place to prevent the large investment banks from being so reckless. Not saying that the crash wouldn't have happened at all - clearly we would still have experienced some fallout from US banking sector - but removing any government regulation from the equation was a massive mistake IMO, and one that Mr Clown must take full responsibility for.

Cheers for all the advice guys. Like I said earlier on, this isn't about vanity and I'm not the slightest bit interested in having a six-pack. I just want to get properly fit so I can do the active things I want to do, and I recognise that I will never be truly fit while I'm carrying a spare tyre round my waist. Anyway, my girlfriend has gone travelling round America for 8 weeks which means I can actually discipline myself with my diet for a while (she's such a bad influence on me normally). I'll update on here with my progress.
