  1. Although I've pretty much given the game away, I don't really want to say what college I'm going to be at. Too much of an exact location to put in a public place!
  2. I can imagine it would be pretty difficult to change career in this climate as well. It's not like people just have the money to drop out and do more training/education. I'm just glad I am in education the next few years. Hopefully everything will be better in a few years, but I fear it won't be.
  3. Of course. We shall be first amongst equals. I'll want a decent share, say a few counties.
  4. That would be my ultimate aim, but as I have discovered the last couple of years, not everything is going to just go your way. All I can do is do this degree. Work hard, hopefully get a 2:1 and that should stand me in good shape for the future.
  5. Not Brookes, Oxford Oxford. Not that there would be any shame in going to Brookes. It's an excellent uni these days. Top 50 I think.
  6. Human Sciences. It's a kind of mix between studying humans from a biological perspective and a sociological perspective. And the plan is post-graduate medicine after that, but post-graduate medicine is even harder to get into than undergraduate medicine, so we shall have to see.
  7. Yep. All set and ready to go to Oxford at the end of next month. This year has been very long, so I can't wait to go.
  8. Those are great results. Well done her.
  9. Mars is bright tonight.
  10. Science has actually come up with some good ideas related to unconscious responses to various situations and stimuli. The explanation of why this happens is very complex and I doubt anyone on here could actually explain it properly unless they are specialised in the field. But of course, it is much easier for people who don't understand how things work to simply say it must be paranormal. I really do hate these gotcha questions though. Picking out one little point that the person present can't explain on the spot and pretending that destroys or casts doubt on hundreds of years of evidence based, peer reviewed, experimentally tested advancements in science. Of course science doesn't know all the answers yet, but it's come a long way so far and has helped us all out at one point or another and it's working on what it doesn't understand. For those who think science does not have the highest levels of procedural integrity, look at how this years 'discovery' of neutrons travelling faster than light was dealt with.
  11. How can you ram atheism down someone's throats? It isn't a religion or a set of ideas. Atheism is not a religion and it isn't science either. What people perceive as 'militant atheism' is more often than not just frustrated atheists who happen to be scientists annoyed that their work is being being undermined or hindered by religious groups.
  12. The deal has been 'definitely' on or off at so many points now, I don't think I can take any developments seriously, especially those which come from twitter. Let's wait it out and see.
  13. Hold down the pound sign. Look - €€€ I'm on an iPhone.
  14. It is of course utter nonsense. Bad people come in all shapes, forms and sizes. Athiest and Christian. Hindu and Jew. And of course they are also plenty of decent people of all types too. Going off on a slight tangent here, but I would say that a religion shouldn't be forced upon a young child. They should be left unchristened or equivalent until such an age at which they can decide for themselves what they think about the world. Calling a child a Christian child or a Muslim child or a Sikh child is just wrong. They are the children of parents who hold those beliefs. It's just as ridiculous as calling a 6 year old a 'Marxist child'.
  15. What about all the players we have bought?
  16. It could still happen, maybe.
  17. There have been so many contrary reports...
  18. He said a lot. I bet there are a lot of people under the age of late twenties on this forum. 30's really... Because you'd be too young to remember otherwise.
  19. Don't have a season ticket this year because I'm at Uni most of the time, but managed to get a ticket for this game regardless... in the chapel as that was all I could afford, so it should be an interesting experience for me as I've never sat there before. On the game, I really feel like we can give Wigan a good chance of it. If we can push Man City, we can beat wigan... although I am too aware that it rarely works like that. Either way, this is a must win game if we want to be staying up. Wigan are our direct challengers if you like for 17th place so we have to be winning these games.
  20. No Jack Cork? That's quite serious... though it could have come at a worse time. It's not like we were ever going to beat Man City, Man U, Arsenal etc! For teams like Wigan however, we need him.
  21. Give him a week or two.
  22. I think Fitzhugh Fella would be good.
  23. I'm in the Illuminati - just don't tell anyone.
  24. I think they will want to send a message out on the first day of the season. Can't see there being a situation where they go 2 up and mercifully cruise. 5-0? 6... I'm not gonna pay too much attention to this result. The real questions will be asked at Wigan, who are our real competitors this year. We need to be beating teams like Wigan at home if we are to stay up.
  25. You need the Who to close an event like this! You can't just shove them in the middle!
