If fans were being honest with themselves i would not be surprised if 99% of Saints fans thought we were favourites to be relegated before a ball was kicked last season. I said it myself right at the start we were going down with such a weak team and a manager that had no game B plan. Every team buys players that are not at the quality they need immediately but hope they become those players within a season of buying them, we are no different. I said it the season we won promotion under Martin, i honestly don't think the club planned for automatic promotion that first season and thought season 2 would be more realistic. It didn't work out that way and we had too many Championship players on long contracts that we couldn't shift. Also add into the mix and this is the biggest mistake of the lot, we had a management team that was completely inept at running a tea fund let alone a professional football club! I really hope major lessons have been learnt. Unless players have something in their contracts that allow them to walk away for below market value (eg. Aaron Ramsdale) then we stay firm and either don't sell or hold out for big money. We don't have to sell either Dibling or Fernandez and our team should be built around these two. The bar has been set by the sale off the Bellingham brother who has NO Premiership experience and is nowhere near the qaulity of either Fernandez or Dibling. I accept Dibling fell away second half of the season but anyone can see this lad is absolute quality and could go on to be a brilliant player if managed correctly. I live in hope the new management team will not make the same awful mistakes their predecessors did!

As far as i'm concerned nothing has changed since i posted this in January. I would be very surprised if he left!

This is a good start, now we need to ship out the dross, keep hold of talented players and bring in more athletic and physical players. I want to see us have a side that bullies other teams for once!

Onuachu is off back to Turkey and it is just a matter of Saints squeezing out as much as they can for him. Anyone that thinks he would fit STILL's high press, high energy type of game is deluded.

I've been told no Ramsdale or Dibling? -
got pulled because Man City have breached the rules. Game should have been at the Etihad but the ground is not available due to current works

I have a horrible feeling we will give the tabloid press all the headlines they crave for Evertons last game at their horrible ground in an absolutely equally horrible area!

Mariela Nisotaki - New Head of Talent Acquisition
BARCELONASAINT replied to Matthew Le God's topic in The Saints
For those that are stuck in the ice age and see the appointment of a woman as woke or whatever you want to call it let me just point this out to you. My son is Chief scout for American side Phoenix Rising as well as being a football agent. He lives in Venezuela where he moved to almost 5 years ago because he saw potential in untapped markets there. Just over a year ago he spent a considerable time working with Caracas FC and Norwich City in hoping to create a partnership between the two clubs. My son speaks very highly of Mariela and is excited to see what she can bring to Southampton. As one door close another one opens were his words to me last night. -
The rebuilding starts now that we have eventually been confirmed as relegated. We need a complete reset and most of the players need to be sold or taken down to the nearest charity shop (bet they wouldn't accept them, even charity shops have standards)

You are correct, Gaol would be more preferable to watching Saints at the moment!

we should have conceded 7/8 goals on Saturday we were that bad and only Ramsdale prevented another one of those huge loses we have come to expect. Unfortunately tonight i think we will concede 6 or more goals with the ridiculous tactics and players playing out of position. Feel free to drag this back up after we win 1-0
-
it is painfully clear to everyone we need a complete reset at the end of this season. 60/70% of our squad need to go, our recruitment has been a complete shit show. Juric is not the answer anymore than RM was. I don't know what i watched yesterday but it looked like 11 players that had never met each other until 5 minutes before kick off. The only player that came out of yesterdays performance with head held high was Ramsdale.

was never enough for a penalty, absolute dive. We would have been furious if that had been given against us!

it's a farley decent appointment

Somerset in their ways i'm afraid

what an absolutely miserable season this is, i just want it over NOW!!

I am fully expecting TD to be with us next season unless something dramatically changes. From what i have heard from someone who knows the lad and his family he has had two offers on the table, both from German clubs and he is very open to playing in Germany where he feels his style of play is more suited. However he wants to stay for another season at least at Saints. Great news in my opinion if true.

I am finding it difficult to really assess if Juric is shit or not. Like most on here i agree he has walked into an utter shit show. The team morale was rock bottom (and still is) and the team was a mediocre Championship side at best. He has not been helped in the transfer market and add to that we have players that don't want to be here (Downes, ABK, Sully, AA, Archer to name but a few) The players are damaged, they are human and it must hurt that generally speaking they all know we are relegated and that they are Championship level players at best that will never likely play in the premiership again. Yes i agree they are paid shit loads, they are professionals, they should not be so weak mentally and bloody well knuckle down but unfortunately we lack any leaders on the pitch to drag the rest up. Given all of that i think its almost impossible to judge Juric. He has stepped into an impossible task. I honestly hope we have a complete reset in the summer and offload most players where ever we can get rid off.

Starting to find his absence worrying, something going on!

A friend of mine was with his son autograph hunting and met the Burnley players this afternoon. He messaged me to tell me Burnley have left behind a lot of 1st teamers

without going through every page on this particular topic i don,t know if this small snippet has been posted before! Saints have more in common with our sister club Valenciennes than some may realise or be old enough to remember. Roll the clock back to November 1996 and one of the biggest piss takes in Premiership history. I give you the infamous ALI DIA who managed to con Graeme Souness he was a professional footballer and cousin of George Weah who he alleged he had played with at PSG. On the back of this fabrication he got a 1 month contract with Saints and came on at home against Leeds when Matt Le Tiss had to come off with a calf injury. He somehow managed to stay on the pitch until the 85th minute before being hauled off and never playing again. Le Tiss described him as "bambi on ice" Well roll forward to 2010 and one SIMON DIA the son of ALI DIA signs as a youth for Valenciennes. He scored 15 goals in 45 appearances for Valenciennes B side. He is still applying his trade in BANGKOK!

Wow i guess you are really upset and not thinking logically about this!? Let me sell the club model to you, we attract young potential that maybe could sign for far better teams than us but we assure them that when another club comes knocking we wont stand in their way, providing there is profit in it for us...........now how many players do you think would still sign for us if they saw a club that says "no fuck off you are not moving you are contracted" Lets se how that would play out for a club like Saints!
-
lets be honest, none of us know the reason for this sale. The lad may have made it known he had no wish to play in the Championship and fancied a complete change of scenery. I don't know how much any of you think SAA is worth but i havent seen clubs queueing up to buy him from us. It's easy to have a pop at the club because everything has been shit this season but until we hear why this is happening i'm prepared to wait before i judge!

I thought the new lads did well, Wellington in particular. Both will good for us in the Championship next season if we keep them. Good to bloody win again and to beat those irritating bumpkins!
