  1. West Ham look like they have just signed a new midfielder which might mean they have cooled their interest in Matty, fingers crossed!
  2. Tend to agree with you on the basis that we are a Championship club now that got relegated with the second worst season ever by a Premier league side. Attracting our no.1 targets are/were always going to be very hard. I think it is already clear we have missed out on our no.1 target which you could argue was unrealistic anyway because we were dealing with a Russian club. There is still something niggling with me about this one and i wonder if its all done!
  3. The only one i would question is Charlie Taylor given the injury to Wellington at the weekend. The rest i will be surprised if any of them are still here next Tuesday1
  4. I would expect to see all 6 of those leave by the end of the week
  5. Like it or not that is the hard truth of the situation!
  6. There has been an awful lot written in the last few pages about our disastrous recruitment in the last few seasons which has carried on into this season....or so some think! Now i don't disagree with anyone that our recruitment thus far has been nothing short of disastrous in the main but a line should now be drawn. Judge the new recruitment team on who they bring in from last week....that is when their first recruited player entered the building Mads Roerslev. The second is the third choice keeper from Norwich (which was exactly the profile they were asked to get, a third choice!) Damion Downes and Quarsie transfers had already been agreed prior to the new setup taking control and the new head a recruitment having anything to do with! Hopefully we will see some more solid incomings in the ilk of Mads Roerslev.
  7. There's not a chance in hell i'm going anywhere near her box!
  8. Big big week coming up. I can't help but feel we relied to heavily on our marquee signing being this Armenian guy and the club honestly believed they had it all tied up with club agreeing to the fee, the player wanting to come here and then only for his club to go all Russian like Putin. I think Saints have been massively played and as a consequence are having to very quickly get options 2, 3, and 4 going! Still needs backing and the squad badly needs freshening up. We have players that were good enough to get us promoted last time round but those players are nowhere near showing that form now, their hearts are not in it, they clearly would rather be elsewhere. It's all well and good fans saying our squad depth is ridiculous for this division and opposition managers in awe of what we have available but if those players are not committed then they may as well be invisible!
  9. We give the ball away far too cheaply and hand the initiative back to Stoke far too frequently. At the moment Saints are looking like one of several teams that will be there or there abouts but no runaway leader of this division.
  10. Its my firm belief we believed we had "our man" (the Armenian guy) he was stellar signing to make up for losing Dibling and Fernandez (obviously Fernandez might still be here come the close of the window). I think we have moved on to our 2nd, 3rd, 4th choice alternatives which unfortunately are unlikely to be of the same quality. It will be interesting to see if our stance on loan signings has changed if this is the case!
  11. Hugely disappointed TD looks set for Everton. Yes like some i personally believe he has been very poorly advised BUT as far as Saints go its a decent fee and the emergence of Robinson definately makes this transfer easier to swallow. Everton have buckled massively and this is a panic buy. I really wish him well but i very much fear he is making a huge mistake (finances aside)

  13. no name was ever mentioned but i'm guessing the player being referred to is the Armenian guy who IF we do end up signing would appear to be quite the coup.
  14. This signing has not just happened, it has been worked on for weeks. My source that said we were getting a new RB and we would be pleased about it has said things took longer than he thought because he understood this was initially being looked at as a loan with an option to buy. Something obviously changed which is not unusual.
  15. I have lost count of the amount of times i have had to say this. He is not coming back and he would not be able to do it in the Championship. I absolutely loved watching him in a Barca shirt and he had the odd decent game but he is definately not up to the Championship now and it was a very odd signing by Barca at the time. Love the man too bits but we need to move on!
  16. cannot wait for the transfer window to close, it gets more and more tedious every season. Sky News with their completely over the top reporting and players like Newcastles Isac and Brentfords Wissa behaving like complete twats just turn off the average football fan. I'm sure i'm not the only one disgusted by reporting of the Isak situation by Sky Sports who absolutely love the soap opera being played out and are themselves gently poking the bear by rolling out all these ex professionals with their take on the situation. I know no club can afford to do it but i would absolutely love Newcastle to stay strong and not sell Isak and let him rot. I bet every football club apart from Liverpool is hoping the same.
  17. Sorry to avoid any confusion this is not Saints i am talking about but another club i have first hand knowledge off due to someone in the position i was referring too. I used this scenario because these sort of incidents are very typical at a lot of clubs and the person i am referring to DOES have contacts within SFC. Believe me our board has not been sitting on its arse for the last 4/5 months when relegation was all but a certainty by the end of January. They have been working so hard for months.
  18. As football fans it is understandable that there are many out there feeling very frustrated about our transfer dealings so far and feel the board are useless, holding players to ransom, not being realistic etc etc. The truth is it is many fans not being realistic. We are a Championship side way down the pecking order now that have to shop in either our own division or the equivalent/lower leagues abroad and hope that our scouts can unearth a gem that no other clubs are aware off. The reality is that virtually every other club out there knows what players are out there and available. Scouting has changed so much, yes scouts still go and watch games in person but so much of it is now done using databases. All clubs have access to these. I have seen this last season 3 players a manager wanted signed by the board that were very much against the chief scouts advice (the Chief Scout went as far as saying do not touch these players with a barge pole but the board choose to go with the managers recommendations) All 3 players turned out to be disastrous, and the hierarchy will now only implement bringing players in the Chief scout recommends. Even when those players have been identified and the player has been acceptable to the move the selling club has not wanted to let the player go until they have a replacement and the same then is said for the next club and so on. Unfortunately most transfers do not happens over night and despite a purchasing club meeting the selling price and the players wage demands etc transfers still break down (and generally from what i have seen it is bad advice from greedy agents) To make it clear the club i'm talking about is NOT Southampton but i use the scenario i know has unfolded at another club i have very good knowledge about. The person i talk about has good contacts within SFC and has told me we have been planning and working very hard since January to identify players for this season and beyond. They certainly havent been sitting on their arses but things are not always as easy as playing Football Manager!
  19. you are boring and must be gutted another player is slipping through your fingers. Congratulations on last nights result by the way. It was a penalty everyday of the week!
  20. Why do Everton fans find a need to join another clubs fans forum and post such utter shit. You really are clueless at this like the majority of your lot!
  21. I applaud those amongst us that are going into tomorrows game confident we will get a win, I just wish i could feel so confident. With 2 weeks of the transfer window still open, and WS still unable to play the side he would really like to be his starting 11, and not knowing if he is going to keep our 2 most most talented players does not fill me with confidence. In another 2 weeks hopefully we have at least 3/4 new bodies through the doors that are creative and some of the dross has gone. I don't think anyone can say we have looked really good in our first 2 competitive games of the season. We had some good spells last Saturday against Wrexham but overall we were so flat. Things just got worse in the Cup game, we were absolutely appalling. We have been very very lucky to walk away from both of those games with 2 victories! 2 losses and no one could complain. I honestly believe Ipswich will be very up for it tomorrow and unless we are 110% the same they will beat us.
  22. Well if for some reason he wasn't with his team watching Sunderland make them look like relegation candidates and he was in Southampton negotiating for Fernandez then his team just made his job all the more difficult today with that performance. West Ham will be even more desperate to make signings before the transfer window shuts so if they want Matty pay up or shut up!
  23. I think both teams have started the season poorly as far as performances are concerned. We were awful against Wrexham for large parts and looked incapable of creating chances until the changes in the second half. We were absolute garbage against a Northampton side we should have easily beaten. I would normally say i don't fancy our chances of getting anything there based on our 2 opening games but Ipswich have been just as bad performance wise and continue to lose players. We should be taking advantage of their current situation, we certainly have the players on paper to get a positive result.
  24. unfortunately not. The source is in the club and yes they would know about any transfer dealings going on. Said person thought that once the player in question is announced that i would be excited about it! For very obvious reasons no more questions were asked.
