I have watched the last 2 games abroad in Venezuela as i'm visiting my son who lives and works out here. It has been weird watching our game against Leeds at 7:30 am by the swimming pool and then watching an evening game against a dirty Stoke side at 3pm in the afternoon! I was totally depressed about Saints before I arrived but the last 2 results have been good for the soul. The team are starting to click and Martin is at last playing his strongest side. Last night (afternoon) was good to watch, the way the lads coped with a dirty Stoke side that really tried it on with the ref. We coped and we fought for one another. Praise where praise is due, i thought the defence did a great job really fighting for everything. There are some nice partnerships developing, THB and Bednarek are looking good together, Downes was excellent and Smallbone did his part in that midfield partnership. I have got to say i do like Shea Charles, he is very composed and is going to be very important for us. Great goal by Stu, so pleased for him, really like him as a player and another i think will be very important for us. Sully scares the crap out of defenders, he has electric pace. He will get better and better of that i have no doubt. Well done Saints, win on Saturday and i might just have to stay out here !

I think my last sentence spelled it out very clearly " Baz is not this seasons problem at all, it's our awful defence."
-
fans scapegoat 2022/23, 2023/24 never mind the piss awful defenders in front of him that are responsible for giving away these chances to the opposition. Baz is not this seasons problem at all, it's our awful defence.

i get it people are completely pissed off with season after season shit performances and today yet another giveaway goal BUT please stop being such a bunch of complete twats and getting on the keepers back, it's 100% Holgates fault. The power of the shot has beaten Baz, it is not his fault at all but so many of you love a scapegoat!!

This is a lineup with the intention of making it much tighter but still with threat going forward. We have been shockingly open up to now with some players just not tracking back. Those having a pop at Adam Armstrong should behave themselves, at least the bloke tracks back and puts in tackle.
-
i take it you didn't watch the shit show on Friday with the exact same side out all bar Aribo who he now expects to run around in midfield when the bloke cant run 10 yards. People have a right to be angry with this pathetic line up!

not feeling the positivity guys!

Sky reporter outside Arsenal training ground reporting he's not expecting any incomings today!
-
there is no confirmed departure of KWP or Bednobs. The TBH deal has not stalled, he's had his medical. Will be announced tomorrow. I trust we are getting another striker in to go with Stewart

I'm bloody gutted!!!!

Although i agree with you Hypo i am guessing if we want him gone then it's purely down to getting his wages off the books and nothing else. A motivated Sully would tear the Championship up. I really hope we keep him but am not confident.

I have to say i share your feelings. I said to several mates at the start of the season that i expected us to finish mid table this season. We basically announced at the start of the season that every player was available so long as we got our price. Not once have we said "XYZ will not be sold whatever the bid, we are building a promotion winning side with these players" I'm not impressed by these loan players and not impressed with the lack of a quality striker coming in when we will almost certainly lose Che before the window slams shut.
-
players bought in the January transfer window rarely work......there will always be the odd exception but generally speaking desperate clubs end up having to take a massive gamble and paying way too much money on the hope of that pot of gold at the end of the rainbow.

Tonights result hopefully makes every Saints fan stand up and realise that we really are not going to have everything our own way this season despite Friday's win. We will lose JWP, KWP and possibly Tella from that 11 on Friday and there is currently no one to replace them in tonights line-up. We have a massive squad of mainly dross and defensively we are dire. If we lose ABK and KWP we are deep trouble at the back. I'm pleased we are out of the Cup because only promotion is important BUT losing like this is just bloody embarrasing!

their chance was just shown on Sky Sports news

Sky Sports news are showing every goal as they go in in tonights games, several goals already!

whats the score with Lavia??? Have City got a sell on clause which means we won't get £50 million if Liverpool do eventually stump up?
-
i totally agree with you and have had a feeling since the end of last season that he would stay, but then like you i'm biased and think his legendary status with us is more important than Premier league football and European football. I hate to admit it but i think he is off.
-
I don't think you will ever get all Saints fans agreeing on Bazuna. Personally i think he is a very intelligent young goalkeeper who was thrown into the Lions den last season with a woeful backline in front of him. Yes he made mistakes but he also made some incredible saves. Some fans are all too quick to only remember the mistakes because the mistakes led to a goal and points lost. A goalkeeper probably has the hardest position on the pitch because the outfield players can often cock up several times a game and it not necessarily lead to a goal. A goalkeeper fucks up and it's a goal. I'm confident he will go on to be a top keeper.

i thought he was off to Reading subject to their transfer embargo. He's 34 so if he were to come here i doubt it is as first choice, more of a replacement for willy
-
Is anyone in doubt that JWP, Lavia, Tino, Che, Sully, KWP and ABK are all gone, it's just a question of when during the next three and a half weeks!
-
were those final stages where Saints said "stop pissing about it's still £40 million you bellends"?
-
Although i'm desperate for Saints to get the players in that will be the mainstay of our promotion push and not waste a month on wondering who we will lose or who we can hold onto before the transfer window shuts, I am delighted for the first time that i can remember that we are not bending over and then thanking the big boys for being so kind in buying our top talent for peanuts. If only the players had shown as much fight on the pitch last season!

those that keep saying we should not have let OR go are deluded. He wanted to leave, he had had enough of the Premier league very much like tadic. He had served this club very well and it was the right thing to do to let him go. I follow Barca and Spanish football in general and OR has stepped down to where he can still perform. La Liga is a slower tempo, players have much more time on the ball and are not continuously being marked tightly. He was a great servant to us but he knew his time had come and wanted to go home. Except it.
